Yes I’m pleased I caught it. They announced a nearby road closure from 8am til noon with blowdown from 9am. So no specific time, so I waited ready with the drone until I heard the sirens, then got airborne quickly 🙂.
I agree with the comments on here, I worked for a while at both sites and they should never have been allowed to close. Send the demolition costs to the Tories and the Chinese.
Cheers Tony 👍🏻. I believe they had to use about 1.6 tons of explosives to drop the 60,000 ton structure. One of the largest blowdown’s in the UK for some time.
@@AMDronephotography I live near Didcot Oxfordshire and I can still remember them taking the chimney’s down there unfortunately back then no drone 😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cheers Steve, I didn’t have a fixed time, just 09:00 onwards. I waited until I heard the siren then raced to get the drone up. That was the loudest explosion yet.
I used to visit this site as a contract engineer in the late 70's early 80's. There was a rumour that there was an IBM 1800 process control computer in a bricked up room having served it's purpose but deemed too costly to remove. It would be great to know if the story was true and what happened to it.
I think if it was there it’s been found or flattened. They’ve been pretty efficient at levelling things, processing the scrap and preparing the ground for redevelopment.
This is why I'm on UA-cam! Absolutely super cool, Andy! Glad you got it! Wow!

Great video. We live in Guisborough and were startled by the explosions.
Thanks 👍🏻 it was bloody loud 😂
Spent 16 years in that place as a cleaner loved every minute of it met some great people there and now it's gone 😢😢
Talked to quiet a few people yesterday morning waiting for the demolition who had worked in there. Some understandable mixed emotions.
@@AMDronephotography it's a shame I was at work I couldn't make it loved of gone tho 😪

Awesome! Saw this on the news and thought to myself, that would of been good to catch with a drone. And you did it! Bravo.
Thank you, yes it was definitely worth the wait. Next big one is the blast furnace.
Totally forget about this today, great footage
Thanks John 👍🏻
Great video Andy and good to meet you today.
Likewise, always good to put a face to the channel 👍🏻 The wind and those power lines had me nervous I’m not going to lie. 😂
@@AMDronephotography Yeah I always go above 200 ft to get over the lines then drop.
Great use of the photos to start wow now I didn’t expect that Big Bang 😲👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@@DroneShowLive I remember that. They’re supposed to be dropping the cooling towers at Fiddlers Ferry power station near Warrington soon.
Top man catching it just before it's dropped 👏👏👍

Worked as a timekeeper for Redpath Dorman Long when they were building that in 1969.
It’s been such a dominant building on the skyline for the last 50 odd years. Be you thought it wouldn’t come down in your lifetime when it was built.

miss looking at it allready from my window hope all the plans come true for the kids 🙏😥
Skyline certainly looks different without it.
Super Kewl - Liked and Subbed !!
Thank you, and thanks for the sub 👍🏻
That is faboulous!
Thank you 👍🏻🙂
*Boom! Did you feel the blast from where you were standing?*
Yes, they used a fair amount of explosives to bring it down, you could certainly feel it in your chest.
