Thanks Andy, very professional. I worked at this plant and it was some place when it was all buzzing!, noise, smells, steam and activity-like Dante’s inferno!. RIP and many thanks.
Thanks Paul, yes it’s sad to see it now when it only seems like yesterday the place was alive with noise and activity. Dante’s inferno it most certainly was.
What is sad that Mark my words we will be wishing we had kept this in working order along with all its support mechanisms. Do we need steel? Yes? Can we depend on foreign steel imports in the future? No.....That tells you all you need to know!
I used to work in one of the Uk`s biggest automated iron foundries. Moved to Germany in 2006. It was a foundry for over 200 years. We made 16 motor shells every 32 seconds 24/7 for the Iraqi war.
No worries, the way the British government is handling things all those labour-intensive industries will come back, as soon as your salary levels have dropped below those of China and Brazil.
Fascinating to see and have a documented record of the furnace before it gets pulled. The scene at 2:04 is a bit magical, as you navigate the furnace and the wind turbines in the background wave goodbye in unison to yet another piece of UK manufacturing. The music just works perfectly. Great video Andy
Thanks again, yes it disappearing bit by bit. They seem to be very efficient at clearing the site. I should think there will be quite a crowd gathered when the blast furnace goes. The skyline will seem strange not dominated by the steelworks anymore.
This is so cool, Andy. You'd think a movie studio would film something here. It would make a great set. It would look great in a lightning storm too. Excellent work, Andy, and the perfect music.
Thanks Christian, it would make a good movie set. Believe it or not they want that site cleared by the end of the year. The large white building is the pulverised coal injection plant, that’s scheduled for explosive demolition on Wednesday morning at 9am. Bit miffed as I might not be finished work in time to capture that one. The music is by a artist called Phaeleh, the song is called ‘Icarus’ he does some good electronic music.
Awesome aerial shots of this most interesting blast furnace. I love such places. A pity that it is not working anymore. Great flight moves and nice video production, Andy.🤘👍
I believe there was a time when it was actually planned to have two furnaces operating side by side. In fact I recall the second furnace was lying in a compound waiting to be erected. Great video BTW
There was originally planned 3 blast furnaces with a plate mill out to sea. The second furnace was made and left near the old 'bears' from the old Warrenby steelworks site, which were there before the blast furnace which has just been knocked down. The plans were quickly scaled back after demand reduced and we were left with only one blast furnace. Bears are the solid iron clump left in the hearths of the blast furnaces after they were blown out and went cold. I worked at south teesside works in several different locations from 1975 to 2010, it was the only job I ever had. My brother worked there for 44 years also. The 'bears' from warrenby site were there for years to the left ( west) of the present main road into the site as you drive in.

Great video. I’m interested to know how they plan to demolish the main part of the furnace, bring it down piece by piece or dynamite the entire thing and bring it to the ground.
Thank you. Not sure about the scrapping, I know Thomson’s of Prudoe are doing some of the demolition as well as another company who blew the Sinter plant.
@@AMDronephotography yeah they are doing the demo but i think J.Denham is getting the scrap from it, remember them putting a post on facebook announcing it
It looked better churning out steel. 170 years of steel making on Teesside coming to a sad end. The blast furnace will be getting blown down in the coming weeks. The site is currently Europes largest development area.
@@DroneShowLive yes the skyline is going to be strange without this. It was ( not sure if it still is) Europe’s largest blast furnace 365 feet tall, same height as St Paul’s cathedral.
@@AMDronephotography i believe the Schwelgern in germany is the largest but redcar blast furnace would of held that title since it was built till the Schwelgern was built 22 years ago
I was talking to a couple of blokes when they blew down the BOS plant and they said end of October. Can’t see it myself, there’s still quite a lot of it left at the moment. But who knows, Teesworks normally put a tweet out when they plan a blowdown.
Hi Andy have you got an email I could contact you on im shooting a documentary about the steelworks for one of my university assignment and would love to include some drone footage
Ty for preserving this . Plants are like a Living Creature .. Once started they do not ever shut down . I have pics of me on the tower...

I agree, I believe steel making, like ship building is a strategic asset.

Thanks 👍🏻 and yes I heard that too, but I heard there was three, one was built and the other two that weren’t built were fed into the blast furnace.

Won't be long Andy i think its ready to be dropped,
thats a nice job you have done the colours are great
did you use a filter on this one.👍.
Cheers Steve, Yeah, don’t think it will be long now, no filters used. I don’t own any filters but have been considering buying a set. Do you use them?
I only had them for the Mini 1 then when he went the journey they went with him.
