    Great review Shaun. I decided against this saw because of a lack of available information in the UK. If I'd have seen this video before buying my new saw I may well have gone for it. Lumberjack would do well to get these in to the hands of a few UA-camrs I think

    Really good review. Straight to the point.
    If the fence is repeatedly square and stable with square mitre slots, I will be in on this. It's very disappointing to see so many reviews of saws costing a grand and well above with comments about fences and mitre slots not being square. The whole point of a table saw is to make repeated, square cuts.

    Thanks for a great review and for ending my quest for a good table saw. I hadn't heard of this one until I saw your review. The storage points on the outside speak volumes about the thought that's gone into the product and they'll save me having to add hangers onto a SIP, Charnwood or Axminster saw, which I'd assumed were my best choices until you talked me straight into one of these about five minutes ago. Cheers!

    Great review. I live in Canada and have the Rigid version of this saw. Very happy with the saw, had it 6 months now. Total cost here was UKPounds 616. To me that was a bargain. Agree with you about tipping the saw upright is a 2 man job. Tried it myself and dropped it on my fingers. 2 broken fingers later, I got someone else to help me!! I think the fence on yours may be different to the Rigid fence, but I am happy with the Rigid Fence, very stable when locked in position, and has T tracks to add accessories.

    Could I just ask, this being an 'american' type saw, is the arbour size our standard 30mm ?

I have ordered three Freud blades from the US as I'm weary of reducer rings generally, the 80T super fine, 50T general purpose and 30T glue-line rip one. We generally avoid blade reducers in the shop. However, looks like you've got good experience with them. We have more than a few 30mm bore freud blades that would fit this saw. Great features to upgrade my first tablesaw the 10inch Evolution contractor saw, which doesn't have a totally flat top. It does have pull out extension wings, great in single garage, with just over 600mm to right of blade up to the fence. Whats the max to fence on the right of the blade for the TS1800? So far its been great, i've used the new blade of oak and walnut to 40/50 mm thick. Cut quality is as its always been with the freud blade just right.

    Would have been nice if you actually reviewed the important aspects, such as accuracy of the fence, mitre gauge, height angle etc, rather than the gimicky unimportant stuff.

    • @shaunintheshed
      @shaunintheshed  4 роки тому

      I will be following up with the day to day use ove rthe next video or 2 to see how it performs Out the box the fence once attached was by default square, but has adjusting grub screws. The mitre slot i haven't checked it as yet, other then its different for the actual traack frmo my old saw so i'm in the process of remaking my jigs.
      WIth all the saws i use the blade angle guide as an approximation and have a digitual gauge to confirm in relation the the saw bed.
      All points taken on board though and will mention them in my follow up video.

      I believe it fits these specs, as it has a 5/8 arbor
      Product notes:
      10” outer diameter, 5/8” arbor, and 7/16” thick at the arbor. Requires that the saw arbor tilt 2 degrees towards the fence. Works on both left and right tilt saws, download the instructions for more information. Please inquire if your arbor is something other than 5/8”.

    Interesting review, but I was getting so wound up by the music, I stopped listening. I'm not sure what the logic is here - you are putting out a lot of information in 10 minutes, but you continually distract the viewer with dodgy lift music. This is , of course my opinion, and I see the value of bland music whilst watching machining, perhaps, or when there is no dialogue. This mix implies you are not confident in what you have to say, and so sugar the pill. There is no need - you have interesting things to tell us. Maybe You tube should install a STFU button so dialogue continues, but lift music gets left in the basement....

      thanks Richard, sorry re the sound bed, i have it set to 30% of my voice volume. Most of my talking to camera sections are shorter and it doesn't affect them, as this was a lot of coal to camera i didn't think it would be any different. I will take it into consideration for any future videos such as this.
      Re the saw though no sugar pills, it really is solid and feels great. 😀
