It is often said that one does not need marijuana to appreciate Pink Floyd. However, it is also said that one often needs Pink Floyd to _really_ appreciate marijuana. ;-]
To record this album in the studio in 1972 would've been an incredible effort in itself, but to replicate it live in concert is another level of engineering and production. That to me is what seperates Floyd from the rest. Great reaction.👍
As a musician ( very low level) I've often wondered what their communication was like to create such complicated arrangements. We all know that they fought a lot, but there had to be an amazing level of communication to get that kind of result.
Hector, you are an absolute star. I've been following your Floyd Journey with increasing pleasure... from the moment you "tried new things" with Shine On You Crazy Diamond 🙂until now... Wow!... I didn't even know that this remastered recording was out... I was there in 1974 (saw them in 1973 as well at Earls Court). What a blast from the past, along with you reacting to everything as if it were brand new... That's some way to bring in the New Year. For me, 2023 was not a great time as I lost several people very close to me and I am trying to find my way forward. So that just jet-propelled me into a new year with hope for the future. Thank You my friend.
I'm watching this again for the umtiumpth time and Hector it is true; Greatest Album ever made!!! I have been listening to this for 50 years and it never gets old
Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest albums ever. I'm glad that you decided to listen to the whole album. This was the days of album oriented music where the album had themes or stories.
@@brainsqueezereactions Now you know why us lot in the 70's were all on bloody acid! I just experienced Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon LIVE in concert, 50 years later, totally stoned, with Hector as my musical companion. Anything my friends did tonight doesn't compare to the party in my head. Happy New Year!
In 1975 I was 16 years old.. Pink Floyd came to the Seattle Center Coliseum just a few months after this show. Six of us went together and we all took Timothy Leary's advice.. I have been to well over 100 shows and have seen everyone every time they came through the Seattle area and I am still going to shows to this day. This show is what I rate all other shows against. They played Echos as the encore.. The best concert I have ever seen by a long ways. The total show. The total experience.. Love your shit Hector.. what a great memory, thanks Bro. R.I.P. Can't think of a better way to end the year and begin a new one then to listen to Pink Floyd! Great reaction and Happy New Year! You've fast become my favorite podcaster!
What an awesome surprise! Never heard this recording before!!!! What a journey……..🎉 Dark Side of the Moon is a concept album that discusses the philosophical and physical ideas that can lead to a person's insanity, and ultimately, an unfulfilled life. 50 years and still an epic journey. Loved your reaction to the album Mark!!!! It was incredible! Happy New Year. 🎉 Ready for more Floyd reactions from you my friend.

I woke up this New Years morning, turned my computer on and what did I see? One of the best presents I’ve ever received! A brainsqueeze reaction of a live version of the best album ever recorded! Hector I’ve been with you for a year now and was thrilled at your reaction to DarkSide of the Moon! Your start to finish epiphany was awesome to see! Thank you for this wonderful gift my friend!!❤️❤️❤️
Hey Hector forgot to add that that was a mega reaction, watched all the way through and it was epic!! Also l read the other day that this album has made it back into the US billboard top 200 if so that's another Guiness book of World Records entry as l believe they already have a couple, what an amazing band and the love for the band well it just keeps on going, long live PF l believe we are all in a better musical place with their music shining through all the dark moments in our lives....
New Years Eve, its past midnight and im on this journey with you Hector. Ive listened to this album too many times to count but never this live version. Excellent choice my friend. Floyd in their absolute prime. Happy New Year brother!
Well, you finally did it, and haven't died! Now you know that we weren't jiving you about the whole story arc of the complete record, and how one track blends seamlessly into the next. In the original, it was on two sides of vinyl, everything up to and including 'Great Gig in the Sky' was on one side, and then you had to get up & turn the disc over, to continue with 'Money'. Now, with CDs & streaming it plays seamless & complete. Next step for a special occasion [ Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, whatever, ] is either a full LZ concert [ Madison Square Gardens, Knebworth, or 'Celebration Day' at the O2 ], or the PF 'Pulse' concert of 1994. UA-cam will allow YOU to view the visuals, but probably not us. You've already done 'Comfortably Numb' from 'Pulse', so might cope. The visuals of that show alone are enough to cause ADHD, let alone smooth it out. Only thing I'd say, enough with " the 'Journey' ", it sounds like a crass TV talent show judge, and you're better then that.
I've mentioned their quadraphonic PA system. Remember that, when the sound pans from left to right in your headphones, it was actually also doing that in a space the size of an arena. They really were jaw dropping to see. Remember, this all analogue. 'Samples' were on tape, and played in. There wasn't a man standing there with a laptop, and the whole show programmed in, to play at the push of a button.
If no one has suggested the Pink Floyd album The Wall yet, that one has got to be next! So iconic in the most literal sense of the word. I am currently re-living 1974 and I am loving it! Your reactions are such a joy!
So perfect for you to react to this album tonight. You are a real one for going down this road. If you plan on doing more album reactions, Zeppelin: Four is my recommendation. If you want to do another Floyd, try The Wall. It's got the right balance of fast and slow to keep you flowing.
You are right, of course. The best album ever produced, without question. When I was at university in the seventies, we used to put our headphones on, lay down, lights out and just drift to this. So many times I woke up with the phones still on.
Mark... Of course I made it all the way through... and there will be many, many, many Folydonians that will have done the same. You've heard loads of tracks from before this album and Echo's (which you've done I know) came before this and was a signpost... and then of course you had the run of albums after, again, quite a lot you have heard. Sadly i didn;t go and see this concert... bt I did buy the album when it came out during my honeymoon in 1973.... (That was the first misses of course, long story)... It was wonderful to start 2024 with you, and Floyd. The band that opene up the floodgates. All the best to you and all the other commentators for this New Year. And Keep on Rocking...!!
Thank you so much for doing this! Came home after celebrating a lovely new year’s, not feeling hungover anymore and then I found this video! ❤ This comment section is for love! ❤️
I never saw PF but I saw Led Zeppelin in 1977 in Seattle. Thanks for the New Year's present. Dark side of the Moon is my favorite PF album. I loved this whole hour❤. This sounds so different from the original recording. You have to hear the original also...You will effing love it. It's a totally different experience. Happy you're back... you beautiful person.😉Happy New Year!!!!🥰🥰
Happy new year Mark, if this album has done this to you in 23/24 just think what it did to us older ones when we were teenagers 50 years ago, keep it up mate,
I was at the Pulse Concert at Earls Court in London in October 1994 and they played the whole of Dark Side Of The Moon from start to finish for the whole of Set 2 and then finished with the Encore of Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell..!! I was tripping my tits off after taking a 100 Magic Mushrooms 🍄 🤩🤪😵💫😝 The Greatest Concert I've Ever Been To..With the lights, lasers, explosions, pyrotechnics, Spitfire Areoplane flying down and exploding into the stage..The colours and traces off the Mushrooms were just mind-blowing and I was sitting up in the balcony directly opposite the Giant Mirror Ball which came down from the ceiling when they played Comfortably Numb + Me and my mates were crying/howling with laughter 😃 off the trip, it was like being transported into a different Universe..!! 30 years on and it still sends shivers down my spine every time I think about it or watch it on DVD or listen to the Concert on CD..Words don't do Pink Floyd justice 🤔
I was lucky enough to see this live,....a very rare concert of the entire Dark Side album played in one set. And now.....I was there with you....Thank you for the vivid memories.......stay you and happy new year!
Mate, you started 2024 like a legend! 6:50 pm new years eve right now for me, and it feels like im leaving a thoroughly shite year behind with you and this... and stunningly, this is the first time ive listened to this live version
I was in from start to finish and wasn't disappointed in the least. The year 1974 my turntable had 2 copies of DSOTM on it, side one would play and side 2 would drop, stoned with my head between 2 speakers and my life would stop and for 1 hour I was lost in space on a journey. These are the times I will always cherish and still remember 50 years later
Mark, Mark Mark I am so glad you did this and now you can listen to the rest of the albums also and I promise you you will be electrified, I love watching you man don’t change for nobody be the same. You should have a TV show but don’t because it’ll ruin you you keep doing what you’re doing.
Brings me back to listening to this album when I was young with my headphones on and so high. What a trip and a journey. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Music is one of the things to bring us time back
Well done, Hector….been with you since your first Floyd reaction and love every minute. All the best for the coming year - can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeve.
Welcome Mr. H 🎉 Another iconic reaction from the annals of Brain Squeeze 😊. You’ve set the bar incredibly high for 2024. Loved every second … thank you 🙏🩵🩵🩵
Well done Mark! Watching this hungover before breakfast on New Year's Day. Canadian fan here. Because of the time difference, this landed for me New Year's Eve at about 10:00 pm. and I'm like " I can't do it", there's no way I can do 60 minutes of Brainsqueeze in this condition!!! Glad I waited so I can really appreciate the brilliance of this reaction. 🇨🇦🥴
1974. How good was this concert! It is no wonder they were renowned for their live performances much more than radio hits. The audio quality is superb for a live registration of 50 years ago. Amazing.
Its life's journey The Dark Side of the Moon explores themes such as conflict, greed, time, death, and mental illness. Snippets from interviews with the band's road crew and others are featured alongside philosophical quotations
OMGoodness, was not expecting this sweet surprise!!!! Happy New Year Hector!!!! Had great time with my family, 1st time we were all together in 9 years!!!! This shall be amazing 🤗🤗🤗💜💜💜 When you "feel" Floyd, you get it. Enjoying this journey with you!!!!! 2024 THE YEAR OF HECTOR!!! I made it all the way through!!!
I never saw Pink Floyd do Dark Side of the Moon but I did see Roger Waters do it about 15 years ago. and He did write most of the album and all of the lyrics. I loved how you realized how FLoyd songs are in order for a reason. Next try the Wall...a side at a time. You're welcome in advance.
Have a great 2024!!! I NEVER listen to Dark Side without hearing the whole thing. This was the first time I experienced live at Wembley . Sharing the experience made it even greater!
A very English guy here, our government have hundreds of years more than the USA (God Bless Her), to brainwash their people . Not me , but the mass populace is in a trance and just sit around in “quiet desperation “! Love from the Scottish Highlands.
Brilliant Hector best New Year show ever blown everyone else out the water with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon All the best to you and your family for 2024 I am 70 this brings back so many memories
"F"ing fantastic!! This album was my introduction to Pink Floyd when I was a kid and I've been a fan ever since! No other band speaks to me like PF. Thank you!! Don't change for anyone but yourself and keep up the great reactions! Hugs and kisses from Rochester NY!
42:14 Well since you asked I was 17 in 1971 when me and a few hundred mostly teenage mostly boys rolled up to Sheffield City Hall to see Pink Floyd. We all had Meddle and we all wanted Echoes. We got Set the controls, Careful with that Axe and One of these Days. And then they played pretty much all of Dark Side of the Moon which none of us had ever heard a note of. It was 18 months before they released it, that's how they did it. Then they left. They came back for Echoes we went mad, I can remember it like it was yesterday. That same autumn the other bands at Sheffield City Hall included Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Genesis, Bowie and the Incredible String Band. Oh and Led Zepp. I couldn't afford to go to them all. That's how 71 was.
oh my oh my!!! What a killer way to renew my spirit for a forward thinking year!! My soul is lifted and my world is aglow w/ love and peace .I was 11 yrs old now at 60. Its a joy my friend to witness your reaction!! Please take care and your family. I am generation Pink Floyd.
Pink Anderson Floyd Council Two great Blues musicians the band was named after. Haven't commented for a while. For me watching reactions often provokes memories. So thanks for choosing this concert for Dark Side of the Moon or just Pink Floyd in general. Seen Pink Floyd perform five times Dark Side of the Moon was one. After becoming aware of them in 1968 I then collected everything they ever recorded on vinyl. Of course many eight tracks and cassettes also existed. But with the many hundreds of out of this world bands we had then, they were the only ones I ever created a collection of. Pink Floyd journey is like none other. Enjoy the fuck out of yourself with the fickled finger of fate.lol Old Laugh-In expression. I would suggest doing the whole Wish You were Here or Animals albums. ✌️ 🤠🏞️🐂
It’s Hector…Hector..Hector.Hector HectorHectorHector!!! Fuck Yes!!! I’m Fuckin in it, for the Long Fuckin Haul🔥 23:5127:58 My Mind just Came Twice! Then “Money”!!!!🤤
Hi, glad you dug this one out😂 This takes me back. This was my wife's first ever concert and her first time ever hearing/seeing Pink Floyd. All these years later we are still diehard fans. Keep up the great work😊
Had a good Christmas and new year and then THIS. I've never laughed and smiled so much at a reaction than I have at this one. Good to see you enjoying the Floyd and thank you for sharing you. This is music that sticks with you through life. Happy new year! Cheers!
What a way to ring in the new year! Thank you for this, Mark! I had never heard this particular recording before, and it is amazing. It "seemed" much more improvisational than their later recordings but was still true to the original studio masterpiece. We all knew that once you heard this album in its entirety, you would understand why we always say you have to listen to a Floyd album uninterrupted.
😘 Happy New Year . Kept my Neighbours entertained with this one . Awesome when you do the Pink Floyd thing . So happy to have had a big brother that introduced me to Pink Floyd , I was around 8 years old . ✌✊🤘 x
Journey on !! Thank you for your fantastic reaction & giving your brain squeeze fans such great music reactions. The live version at Wembley by Pink Floyd is iconic, I would love to have been there 🔥💥 but this is just as good watching YOUR reaction, This a perfect concert for you😻 Heaven oh heaven Sending love from🇨🇦& Happy New Year wishes for all good things in 2024 dear Hector. This is such a great gift you are giving us on New Years. 💟☮️ Thankyou Thankyou 🥰
Happy New Year Hector! I was born early 70’s and grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath……..then spent my teenage years listening to NWA, Paris, Ice T and the Beastie Boys. Still love them all in my 50’s 👍🏻
I'm a little late to this reaction, but I wanted to wait until I had the time to focus on this because Pink deserves no less, and I knew you'd lose your mind. I know every note, every inflection of every word of this album, from "start to fucking finish," and this live version is brilliant. I grew up in the late 70s, and we were spoiled by the best music, which is good because I'm also neurodivergant, and I needed good music. I love your reactions; it's good to find others who feel music like I do. The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are two of the greatest albums ever written. I hope someday you do a full-album reaction to The Wall as well!
Haven't heard this performance before. This had such a cool version of Any Colour you Like. It almost sounded like Echoes. It's cool. You can hear the early Pink Floyd vibes.
You've hit the point, I've linked this version of Any Colour You Like (in the 2011 remastering) more than a hundred times. Unfortunately, the physical size of the LP then affected the songs that, in the background, were conceived as JamSession.
Albums like this came out at about the same time as I was doing my 'A' Levels. I didn't have many albums in those days, and there was no internet, just one or two radio stations like Radio 1 & Luxembourg. I'd sit or lie in my bedroom reading & revising, while listening to Pink Floyd & Yes. It kind of seeps into your soul, unless you hated school & A Levels. By university, I was surrounded by so much music, it had a bit less impact. We'll try & wean you onto some prog [ 'Progressive Rock' ], of which PF were pioneers. Some 'Yes' & 'Genesis' [ I see that you already did Phil Collins the other evening ]. Just the short pieces at first, not the 15-20 minute epics like Suppers Ready, Close to the Edge, or Awaken. Mind you, your second dip into PF was the whole 'Echoes' at Pompeii, so we know you can cope.
Now that you have an idea of what we were talking about by listening to the whole album at one sitting, I now suggest you listen to the studio version in one sitting. It is very different from the live version. It also sets you up for the ultimate headphone experience - Wish You Were Here ! this is the ultimate way to hear this album. It's intensity and depth will take you away into a mindscape of music & sound that is not equaled anywhere. You will never be the same , lucky for you! I really love your reactions .
Amazing reaction to an amazing live recording of the best album ever made ! I've had the privilege of seeing Pink Floyd 5 times, all in Toronto. Twice in 1988 for the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour, and in 1994 during the Pulse tour I went to 3 of the 5 shows. 1988 was an excellent show, but the Pulse shows were beyond incredible ! They played all the tunes from the Division Bell along with some older tunes, but then they played the full " Darkside " every song, note for note ! The best concerts I've ever seen ! Talk about an assault on your senses 😳 I was with you start to finish brother. Thank you for the after party my friend 😊 I absolutely love your channel Hector 🤟Keep on rockin' brother ✌️
To whoever put Hector on to Pink Floyd.... Thanks dude (from everyone) your a star!

🤣 did the head between the speakers many of times to Floyd myself... was a lot better than the headphones back then 🤘
This has been my favorite Brainsqueeze Reaction by far. Thank you and glad you survived!😊
Mark, Mark Mark I am so glad you did this and now you can listen to the rest of the albums also and I promise you you will be electrified, I love watching you man don’t change for nobody be the same. You should have a TV show but don’t because it’ll ruin you you keep doing what you’re doing.
I attended 2 Pink Floyd concerts on their Dark Side of the Moon tour: Cincinnati and Miami. Those were the 2 best concerts I have ever been to.
Brings me back to listening to this album when I was young with my headphones on and so high. What a trip and a journey. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Music is one of the things to bring us time back
Fantastic as always. You've chosen one of the greatest albums from any genre of all time. Brilliant. Happy New Year brother
That was awesome I'm 55 and the first time seeing that version I absolutely loved it mate. Now do Echoes full live at Pompeii 1972
Loved every second … thank you 🙏🩵🩵🩵
You’re very good at explaining what the music is doing to the brain chemistry, love it! Happy new year! 🎉
I'm chuffed to bits that you now have this album as part of your life experience. 🙏 Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction too man. Blessings on ya. 👏🌻
Wonderful! This should be a lot of fun! Thanks! Happy New Year!
1974. How good was this concert! It is no wonder they were renowned for their live performances much more than radio hits. The audio quality is superb for a live registration of 50 years ago. Amazing.
Floyd is timeless and therapeutic. Been using them since 1970 to change my mindset and get back on track. Welcome
Happy New Year to you!! Thanks for all of the great reactions in 2023. Wishing the best for you in 2024! 💯
Its life's journey
The Dark Side of the Moon explores themes such as conflict, greed, time, death, and mental illness.
I know you would be here till the end 😊😊😊😊🤍
Animals....brilliant!
Thank you so much, Mark! I stayed with you the whole time and Happy New Year! Also, happy (50th) anniversary to Pink Floyd!
Have a great 2024!!! I NEVER listen to Dark Side without hearing the whole thing. This was the first time I experienced live at Wembley . Sharing the experience made it even greater!
“Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way” I’m American…do you relate to that sentiment for fellow UK citizens?
A very English guy here, our government have hundreds of years more than the USA (God Bless Her), to brainwash their people . Not me , but the mass populace is in a trance and just sit around in “quiet desperation “! Love from the Scottish Highlands.
Only just found pink floyd 2 years ago just hooked can't get enough thanks from a very happy 64 year old what a brilliant reaction it's been a journey
Brilliant Hector best New Year show ever blown everyone else out the water with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon
All the best to you and your family for 2024
I am 70 this brings back so many memories
I got goosebumps just watching you brother because it really excites me to see someone else who really understands what Pink Floyd was and is
"F"ing fantastic!!
Did you notice how quiet the crowd was? Total respect for the band and the music that they were experiencing.
I'd be the noisy sod at the back!
@@brainsqueezereactionsyup…you would…definitely. 😏😉
🤣🤣🤣🤣@@brainsqueezereactions
After all the eargasms listening to single tracks separately, you've just had your first braingasm! 😅
oh my oh my!!! What a killer way to renew my spirit for a forward thinking year!! My soul is lifted and my world is aglow w/ love and peace .I was 11 yrs old now at 60.
Its a joy my friend to witness your reaction!! Please take care and your family.
I am generation Pink Floyd.
Thank you for that awesome reaction my fellow Floydian.
I have nothing to add. If someone doesnt get it by now….they never will.
Thank you for the reaction! ❤
Pink Anderson
Floyd Council
Two great Blues musicians the band was named after.
Enjoy the fuck out of yourself with the fickled finger of fate.lol
Old Laugh-In expression.
I would suggest doing the whole
Wish You were Here
or
Animals
albums.
✌️
🤠🏞️🐂
You are my favorite musical companion! I loved every minute of this! Thank you 😊
It’s Hector…Hector..Hector.Hector HectorHectorHector!!! Fuck Yes!!! I’m Fuckin in it, for the Long Fuckin Haul🔥 23:51 27:58 My Mind just Came Twice! Then “Money”!!!!🤤
Well done again. Your epiphany during Us and Them was stellar.
Didn't see Floyd in concert till 76 but it was most incredible concert I have ever seen
Hi, glad you dug this one out😂
This takes me back.
This was my wife's first ever concert and her first time ever hearing/seeing Pink Floyd.
All these years later we are still diehard fans. Keep up the great work😊
I’m with you, Mark Hector on this journey, I look every day for your postS and I have been waiting for this one.
Great start to 2024...Brain Damage man!😂
Hector You Krazy Bastard!, Now that's how You bring in The New Year!! Thank You My Friend! Shine On!
Had a good Christmas and new year and then THIS. I've never laughed and smiled so much at a reaction than I have at this one. Good to see you enjoying the Floyd and thank you for sharing you. This is music that sticks with you through life. Happy new year! Cheers!
Fuck yeah, man. (Made it all the way with you!) Happy New Year Mark. Looking forward to more Brain Squeeze in 2024. xo
Don’t be sad when it comes to an end my little, Mark, Hector, there’s 20 more albums to listen to and more
Lol 😂😂😂😂
What a way to ring in the new year! Thank you for this, Mark! I had never heard this particular recording before, and it is amazing. It "seemed" much more improvisational than their later recordings but was still true to the original studio masterpiece. We all knew that once you heard this album in its entirety, you would understand why we always say you have to listen to a Floyd album uninterrupted.
😘 Happy New Year . Kept my Neighbours entertained with this one . Awesome when you do the Pink Floyd thing . So happy to have had a big brother that introduced me to Pink Floyd , I was around 8 years old . ✌✊🤘 x
Hiya Hector, that's one the best starts to a new year ever, thanks for bringing up some cracking memories with the great music and reaction 💥👍😊
Journey on !! Thank you for your fantastic reaction & giving your brain squeeze fans such great music reactions. The live version at Wembley by Pink Floyd is iconic, I would love to have been there 🔥💥 but this is just as good watching YOUR reaction, This a perfect concert for you😻 Heaven oh heaven
Sending love from🇨🇦& Happy New Year wishes for all good things in 2024 dear Hector.
Greatest album by the greatest group of all time. My desert island album! Thank you for this epic concert, brother!
I hadn't either. It is good the way it is subtly different from the album but yet still the same.
I really love your reactions .
the last time Pink Floyd played live was an 18-minute reunion with Roger Waters at Live 8 on 2 July 2005. Watch it !!!! The original 4
Welcome to the experience and mind blowing music of one of the most excellent album from start to finish
Happy New Year Hector
MAGNIFICENT! This was amazing and it couldn't have come at a better time. Keep it up Hector.
I was 18, at home, and probably stoned listening to their albums!
I love that you chose the live version. The crowd adds so much to it. Makes it even more exciting.
