  • Hey guys! My daughter wanted to hang out in the music room while I was filming this video, but she was behaving well, so I just let her stay. lol
    In this video I go over MY top 3 reasons why I love the Korg Volca Keys. :) This tiny, 3 voice polyphonic synth is what started it all for me.l It's what got me to fall in love with the world of synthesis and music production in the first place. It is a budget friendly, entry level synth that is capable of producing some really great sounds, but more importantly... it's just a whole lot of fun to play with.
    Anyways, I really hope you enjoy this video and stay tuned in for more videos like this one in the near future. As always, thanks for watching, littleBIGsynths. :)

    You're the first channel I've found that shows what this can do to make actual music and not just random noises. I know synthesizers make random noises...I wanna find the best to play music with. So thank you

      Thank you! 😊 I really appreciate your feedback.
      Yeah, that is what I love about synthesizers, they can go from crazy far out alien sounds to beautiful melodic sounds and back again. Lol They are incredibly versatile and can offer a wealth of sounds that can't always be achieved by traditional instruments. 😎
      Glad you enjoyed the video. 👊🙂

      @@littleBIGsynths There's some very nice ideas happening here though. Do you have a space for your music anywhere?

    • @BTsMusicChannel
      @BTsMusicChannel 4 роки тому +9

      Music is in your mind. It isn't real. If random noises are not music, then it is a limitation in your mind that makes it so, not the noises or the arrangement of them. Also, there are plenty of channels that show how this can be used, you are not looking hard enough.

      Yes !! Got the voca keys a few weeks ago, your videos conviced me :) The only problem is the lack of step recording on the sequencer like the volca bass. but you can use the active step and still make programmed melodies... I'm glad

      @littleBIGsynths  6 років тому +1

      +SnackbarDreamer // Paul Sweet! Congrats! :) The Volca Keys is a great little synth. Step recording would be a nice feature! Like you said though, the active step function is a decent work around for this. Have you synced it up with some other volcas yet? Lots of fun :D

    I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these vids. Sometimes when one puts out something like this, there aren't any comments, and one can feel under-appreciated. But you have helped 83,000 people! And five thousand of them have subscribed! That's a WOW!
    Like you, I really like messing around with synths. I have 17, mostly little like my 5 Volca stack and two Monotrons. My fave is the Novation Ultranova, which is fantastic for a cheap price. They are all 2H and I went into debt to get them - I am on a pension, and here you can ask for a small advance. My neurological disorder prevents me from playing. Your video shows me how I can use them without great keyboard ability. Your tutorials will carry over into my public performances for fifty people and the music I release.
    Thank you again so much.

If you are a fan of their stuff (Music Has the Rights to Children, Geogaddi, etc), I would love to see a series on getting those sounds. Hi Damian! I'm new in this world of music production, and I found your YT channel and I'm really enjoying your content and your way to explain things that at least for me are really hard at the moment. I'm wondering if you have a video where you explain your beginnings, if you can share what resources you recommend to start doing music with synths, what music theory may be needed, and courses you recommend. Thanks for your awesome work! :D

      Yeah, the vKeys and vBeats were my first 2 volcas; then added the vBass and Sample. Sold the vBeats and never looked back. Lol Now o also have 2 vModulars, a vFM, and a vMix! Love them all! 😁

    I’m planning to get my next volca but couldn’t really decide which one to get, either fm or keys. Which one is better for you? After these amazing demos, leaning towards keys but idk. Great vid man! You have my sub!

    • @littleBIGsynths
      @littleBIGsynths  6 років тому +1

      +Miguel Huerto which volcas do you already own? You really can't go wrong with either the fm or keys... But I would definitely say keys is my favorite of em all ;) I find myself using the keys more often than my FM. You can probably find a cheap vKeys used... And then work on getting the FM after? Just a suggestion though. Lol
      Anyways, thanks for watching my videos. Glad you enjoy them. Stick around for more videos soon. :)

    i agree , my fav volca. I use the Keys in poly mode with other synths using a Kenton midi through box. I pass it through a mixture of FX pedals and - as you said - it does cut through the mix in a raelly pleasing way. The Osc's are really good for a £100 synth. =) nice vid (=

    • @littleBIGsynths
      @littleBIGsynths  6 років тому

      +Valdis Krebs Thank you! :) Yeah, that volca mix looks pretty cool... just bummed about the price a bit... and you most likely will need 2 if them since there are more than 3 Volcas. Overall though, I think it's a pretty cool device from what I seen.

    • @valdiskrebs566
      @valdiskrebs566 6 років тому

      littleBIGsynths yeah, for the price it would be great if it had a USB audio interface for Mac/Win/iOS or better yet, the ability to record directly to a memory card or a USB drive for DAW-less operation.

    Great video and sound. It's frustrating that Korg doesn't mark Volca knobs so that we can clearly see where settings are at, especially in low light. This is the reason why I loaded new knobs (covers) onto all 6 of my Volcas.

    Love all the compositions that you have made. Such 80s vibe. Ever since I've got my volca sampler I though of getting a volca keys or fm for doing some melodies. And now with the modular, thats another choice. But I have no idea of syntesis. What would you recomend for a begginer??? Keys, FM or Modular????
    Thanks!!!!

    You aced the Keys mate. Keys a proper midi keyboard transforms it. Super vid dude. Small synths the way to go. Love the unison detune on this for some real Numanesque PolyMoog leads like on Are Friends Electric? Boutiques are good too.
