Thank you for sharing this series of detailed videos. Recently I was commissioned to make a white leather bed base wrap for a long standing client, sewn on industrial sewing machines. I realised that besides my machines I didn't have leather Working tools to speak of. Working with leather again started me thinking about shoe making, so on a whim I bought a inexpensive saddle making set and a book on sandal making. I found your video on Pinterest then watched the rest here on UA-cam. Your workmanship is really good and you have really inspired me to get started, just waiting for my tools to arrive. Thanks once again
As I have made these clamping was a bit of a issue, what I ended up doing was using a vacuum bag that I use for molding holsters, basically made a simple block that was flat, where it contacts the sole of the flip flop and then just rounded the blocks so not to cut the bag, the pressure worked super, left it in the bag for 4 or 5 hours.
Excellent work! I don't use clamps. I just use a towel above the material and about 400lb of weights and assorted metal I have laying around on top of the towel that's over the material. Let it set for a 1/2 day
Really nice work. I hope you are ventilating with the Barges! Also try a shingle knife with a hook blade you can cut and pull from the bottom and see the cut line great!
The thin split leather I have is proving more and more difficult to work with... 😔 I'll keep on trucking because I am excited to make something I can wear!
Great work. Thanks for this fine series. I particularly appreciate you not focusing the camera on your face and not polluting an excellent instructional video with stupid music.
justin schneider do they slip or slide easily on hard damp or wet surfaces such as slick concrete tile or like surfaces? New to leather craft and really appreciate these great videos thank you. Marty

Nice Sandals, I improved, so I think on the design, by making the stichline on top disappear. I can show you how if interested.

They're super beautiful!!!
Really enjoyed this tutorial. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful pair of sandals!
I have a feeling you might have to find a groove cutter for rubber just like you did for the leather.

I enjoyed this build. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. How much would you charge for a pair of custom leather flip flops?
Where you purchase your soles from Rubber Soul from
Amazon carries it. Vibram 4mm
What is the liquid is he applying on the edge to burnish? He never mentioned
Typically I burnish with water, then gum tragancanth, then beeswax.
I was burnishing but I noticed it was curling up the edge. Do you think I used to much friction?
@@biasanto Did you bevel the edges?
Yeah I did. Losing hope ☹️ do I bevel again?
@@biasanto I would. Won't hurt!
Enjoyed the tutorial, Thank You
Отличная работа,супер

How much
Where did you get the sole material?
Amazon - www.amazon.com/Vibram-Cherry-Repair-Soling-Sheet/dp/B00B6RH68U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522710564&sr=8-1&keywords=vibram+cherry
Why do you use the 4mm Vibram sole and not the 6mm? Love the videos and plan on making a pair of flip flops
Terry Sechler 6mm would be extremely thick. 4mm is substantial as it is.

@@martyblanchard6758 Marty, sorry for the delay. I get buried in spam comments sometimes. The soles are very grippy and seem to wear well.
Worn wizard can give me that pair of sandals😀
