Nice work on the tweaks to make the car faster!I miss going to PMI, too much fun doing everything from hitting the motocross track on the CR 450F. Off reading for days and of course the strip. Back when running 10s and 11s was fast. Definitely regret moving to Florida back in 2000.

If trans is shifting too hard into second the fix for that would be putting a wavy steel in the intermediate clutch pack or tighten up the clutch pack clearance in trans. I went through this same deal on shit surfaces.

I'm not being negative but he is a long way from that I'd bet he is barely a 6.0 car I. The 1/8 2nd gear leaves are killing his 60 ft and 330 he is just way to far off right know to be thinking about that
@@mikethemechanic2773 everyone is in titled to their own opinion but the mr2 on gate and it has traction control with the rx7 leaving in 2nd gear it's a slug out out of the hole to the 330 plus the mr2 hooks on the street decently Aldo wth it being mid engine track or street it's not a race yet the rx7 has along way to go and the passes he has made yes has been on no prep but there is rubber down the mr2 would probably still try to wheelie on a no prep surface but it's truly not a fair comparison yet

I remember a little timing truck from watching the kid, he said he uses a timing retard when he lets go of the trans brake, it doesn’t activate till a half off a second after release cause he wants the tire to grab and suspension to react before knocking it over the head to calm the wheel speed. Might try that and play with it, no two cars are gonna be the same but it may help with leaving in first gear and getting those 60’ times down. Car is looking like it’s way faster on the street type surfaces though. Nice to see you out racing it after putting all that time in it building it.
If you would like to try a first gear launch, try bringing the shift down on the 1-2. There will be a sweet spot where it wont spin but also wont make the car struggle to climb 2nd. Food for thought
Ever seen those videos of drag cars just taking flight on the mid/top end of the track? Wind getting under a car can get super sketchy super quick, hell as an example a 1999 Subaru wagon will try to take flight just a hair under 120mph
@Okami NekOkami if you've got all the fancy data logging some suspension data could tell the story, on something like the boosted boiz mr2 with a laser height sensor in the front of the car you could also look for the car starting to lift at high speed, but that could be too late to do anything about it and you might be flying before you can fix anything. Most of the time I see people either go "yeah it's gonna need it based on these other cars and the speeds I'm hoping to run" and do it before they push the limits, or they'll move up some mph and the car will move around and get unsteady so theyll go "yeah she started getting unsteady at the top end, time to smooth it out" and add one because they can feel it getting out of hand The one time I've experienced it properly it lifted the front wheels completely off the road, we essentially wheelied across into the oncoming lane and the car sat down when the driver lifted off the throttle, even in a car that struggled to reach that speed the lift off was super sudden and surprising

If the 1-2 shift is causing it to unsettle and leaving in 2nd is sluggish, would leaving in 1st and short shifting help? I assume the 1-2 shift at the optimal time is what causes you to need to peddle it. So maybe leaving in 1st yo get the good 60 then shifting early in to 2nd before it really build power would be the “ideal Band-Aid” you’re looking for? Just thinking out loud. You obvious have more experience than I do and may have already tested that out

Just a camera comment, something that kills videos for me, is when youtubers film in 24 and upload in 30. Or vice versa, film in 30 and upload in 24. The frame drops are crazy and many tubers dont notice it if they have video smoothing enabled for youtube playback with a PC that has a gfx card capable of it.

Considering some powerglides run 1.7:1 down to 1.5:1 first gears, its not that far off leaving in seccond on a th350/400 as far as gearing goes.

Why do you need a wing for extra downforce on the top end? Is that common? I thought you need more grip in the first half of a drag.
