Hope you're having a wonderful weekend - the sun has just come out here in the South of England after a few days of thunderstorms! As always there are time stamps so feel free to watch the most relevant bits to you xx

I would be cautious about using Aspiration. Before switching, look at their actual business model and make sure that you understand what they are doing and if you are ok with the level of risk. They are NOT fdic/ncua insured (this is very important to know). What they are doing is taking all the deposits they get from their members and putting them in a separate account in another bank (there is a list of those banks on the website). The account at the 3rd party bank(s) IS fdic insured, but it’s insured in the name of Aspiration. If Aspiration goes out of business or is less than legitimate, you would need to take them to court to get your money back.
(I was in the US banking industry for over 10 years, with a focus in federal compliance and anti-fraud.)

@@findingagain They may be totally ok and on the up & up, but I don't like to rely on "trust" when I can rely on the law. If you are looking for a different place to keep your money, I'd suggest looking at a credit union (USA) insured by NCUA or a building society (if you're in the UK).

Thank you for that. I hate to think what we can unconciously support something that is so harmful to everyone of us. It just shows what motivates those companies and their values. Thank you for this reminder.
I personally don't like subscriptions, because they can charge and ship stuff when you havem't actually finished your food/products. I don't like the fact that my bank account is being charged on the background without me being in control of it. I prefer to actually manually buy stuff when I need.
You mentioned Smol. I think even more minimalistic and cheaper method would be to use distilled vinegar in your wash and/or a laundry ball. I have been using it for the last year or so and it works like a charm.
I do have a rainwater collector and I do make my own compost as well. That's the epitome of a circular economy and I love it!

I really appreciate the thoughtful research and effort you put into every video, and its great to see your journey into a more sustainable lifestyle, I mean, it’s great to see swap tips that focus on objects, but this is on another level. I’m a climate change and sustainable finance consultant, working on a certified B Corp in Brazil, and this content truly ticked all the boxes for me, keep up the good work!
Plus, on another note, the tip to look for B Corps in general is a good one. The requirements to be certified (and to keep the certification) represent the highest standards in governance and impact-driven business models that we have today. Personally, I aspire to work at B Corps, I buy clothes from B Corps, which are usually also providing certified cotton and use recycled materials, and so forth.

    Hello there,
I would like to thank you for talking about finances and sustainability, it’s a very worthy change to make!
When you talk about Ethical banking & pensions though, vegan subscribers need to also be aware of the Animal Ag industries and how much fiscal support they receive from some so-called ‘Ethical’ financial alternatives.
Some of these DO NOT take this into account when listing how ‘Ethical’ they are! This is despite Animal Ag, according to research out of Oxford University is the single most devastating influence on our environment!
So, we need to take responsibility for where we put our money, I agree wholeheartedly, but we need to be aware of the institutions Value’s before swapping!
If anyone needs suggestions from an Australian context, let me know & am happy to help!☺️
    Kindly, Sharlot from Melbourne.🌻

An inexpensive and simple switch from detergent is a mixture of washing soda, Borax and cake soap like Zoot. Grate the soap and sprinkle a tablespoon or so in with a small scoop of the mixture of the powdered washing soda and Borax. If I have seriously stained items, I often let the wash go for a few minutes, then let it sit a bit before finishing the cycle. My laundry comes out clean and fresh and does not require the use of fabric softener.. This was an amazing savings for me. I estimate about 1/5 of the cost from before. And no plastic jugs to lug around.
