i loveeee the way you interpret the ending of my year of rest and relaxation, it's really interesting that all this time their dynamics are almost flipped. like the whole story reva was jealous of the main character, but now reva has something she doesn't have unlike all the time the narrator had everything reva wanted

Thanks! It is such a fitting end to the story.

Agreed 1000% on death in her hands - I loved it and could’ve read another 100+ pages!!!

There's quite some speculation about a LAPVONA adaptation, from director to cast to medium (show, movie, limited series).
I for one immediately saw Ralph Ineson as Marek's father, but that may be a biased thought based on his spectacular performance in "The VVitch".
Seeing as so much of the book is rumination and inner monologues or re-lived memories, I can also see it as a stage play.

Oh awesome! I hope that happens!

completely agree that Ralph Ineson would be great as Jude! i imagined Lapvona’s kind of atmosphere the same as The VVitch, and it would be amazing if Robert Eggers could adapt that book, i feel like he would do an amazing job
      also i love your pfp

Character development is something Ottessa absolutely nailed it in Lapvona that I actually binged read her other books (this was the first novel I read by her).
My Year of Rest and Relaxation - I sensed envy towards the end that Reva was able to end her life (if not by choice) where our unnamed character couldn't/didn't.

Yeah Lapvona was so good! And yeah, defiantly agree she was envious of Reva.

Read my year of rest and relaxation last year and my goodness I felt so connected to the story bc I dealt with the same struggles (minus parents death) and I totally get the usage of sleeping to feel some type of moving away from all the tramua you’ve dealt with, I also love the novel as it keeps the mood of what the protagonist is going through. I do want to get into her other books

I just found this video (thank god I did) and I'm in love with the way you talk and express your thoughts. It is objective without being simple, but at the same time it is accessible for non English speakers.
love ottessa and you got a new subscriber!

When talking about different perspectives, have you read the book My Volcano? Curious on your thoughts about that one

As somebody who’s read Eileen but wasn’t a fan. Didn’t hate it, just didn’t feel memorable to me. Would you recommend I try any of her other books?

Yeah I think you should give one of the books in my top 3 a try! So Death in Her Hands, McGlue, or Lapvona
