For sure nostalgia. I used to watch the movie and it positively reachs me to see it becoming a pillar of memes. It is kind of odd to see it being used and regarded as a song for situations where everything is going wrong (Chernobyl inc for example) but I guess when the reactor largely exceeds 3.6 roetgens ... the whole system is dancing. Memes aside, it is an excellent music. This came from an era where movies still used to be original regardless of the audience and the song is no exception.

Monsters Inc. is probably my favorite Pixar movies. The characterization is amazing, and the jokes still hit home 10+ years after I first saw it. In fact, I'd go on record and say it's funnier now than it ever has been. Sure, it doesn't have the greatest Pixar plot ever conceived. But it's one of the funniest and even most heartwarming, and it's a huge part of my childhood and one of my favorite movies ever.
This is my favorite part of the song! I think it's a clarinet based on the timbre (the "texture" of the sound). Additionally, the style of music is reminiscent of early 20th century New Orleans music, which heavily featured the clarinet, and rarely featured saxophone. Jelly Roll Morton is a great example of a bandleader who usually featured clarinet over the sax.
Me encanta el hecho de qué el tema de Monsters Inc sea un jazz le agrega todavía mas el toque Pixar además de que el jazz es un género de música bastante hermoso.

Sadly it's been 19 years since the tragic loss of James Coburn(Waternoose). Sure he might've voiced one of the most scary ass motherfuckers is Disney history, but he's still one of the OGs who gave many kids childhood memories, especially Mary Gibbs(Boo). Of course a 90s kid like her was lucky enough to work with an old school Hollywood tough guy like James.
I'm so used to the earrape version that when the part that's meant to be earraped plays like normal I get this weird feeling that something's missing, which of course is the earrape, it's become part of the song at this stage.

this is the essence of every kids childhood right here. in other words, this is the good stuff.

20 years of the best movie I’ve seen on VHS for the scream Mike makes and the theme they created.
Happy 20th Monstropolis! 😈🎉🥳

Well, they say that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
I'm so used to the earrape version that when the part that's meant to be earraped plays like normal I get this weird feeling that something's missing, which of course is the earrape, it's become part of the song at this stage.
