Easily removable, unless you buy the C3 Caress model which has a key. If you lose it, you literally cannot take the seat off your bike. The u-bar going into the mount doesn't budge and the seat had to be slipped over it before locking in place. Brilliant design. If over 2 years you lose a little key, your bike is stuck with this bouncing piece of Chinese plastic on the back.

Get a couple extra keys made. Problem solved. Call a locksmith and have them pick the cheap easy lock. Problem solved..

@@pearljameric Can't make copies of a key you don't have.
The solution of calling and paying a specialist to fix a problem that shouldn't exist just drives the point home of how it is a bad design choice. Considering later models of the same seat phased out the key requirement, I would say the company silently agreed it was a mistake.
My comment was a frustrated warning to people to beware the possibility of my predicament. It has since been solved.

@@davidbrotherton789 Why wouldn't you make extra keys to begin with? I'm sure it comes with two. Stop blaming the company for your losing them...

@@pearljameric If you must know, my bike was being stored at a family member's home, and they bought and installed the seat for me to take my daughter on a nearby trail when I was visiting them. Now, a couple years later, my child doesn't need the seat, and when I attempt to take it off I encounter the key problem. I don't blame my family member, they were going through a tumultuous time in their life and has since moved and doesn't know the whereabouts of the key. So, now I go online to see if there is a workaround, and find that my particular model requires the key while others do not.
Shit happens, sorry I am not a guy with a cupboard filled with copies of EVERY key I have ever needed. Are there any other useful things you need to say to a random person venting a frustration about a design decision on a product he owns? Perhaps a critique of some other aspect of my life?
Forgive me for the attitude, but you started this conversation when you had absolutely nothing to gain or contribute to my situation. Which was over a month ago, by the way.
