Just replaced my “cheap” non shotgun seat with the “dearer” one. I can’t describe how much more sturdy this feels and the ease of mounting the seat is compared to the inferior one. Without having been out for a ride, I’m super excited and hope for appropriate weather (no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing) so I’ll be out 100% Thank you
I have been wanting a product just like this. I bought myself a new mountain bike in 2018 and got rid of my old bike. I was so disappointed when I realized none of my kid carriers would work with my new bike. Even my tow behind. I just bought this and have done a few rides with my son. He has just turned 3 and my daughter is 5 riding her own bike now. I can say this has worked extremely well for us. It fits my full suspension bike really well. As far as clamping force you can play with it. you do not have to crank down the bolts and crush your frame just tighten tell it holds tight and doesn't wiggle around. There is lots of rubber on it that is very grippy. Most of the pressure holding the carrier on is from the center leaver which you can adjust clamping pressure very easily. I have an aluminum frame. I do think this would work well on a carbon bike.

I was recently given this seat as a gift. I found the quick release to be pretty pointless because there is nothing quick about removing this seat. If I want to remove this seat I have to completely unscrew the rod for the pegs which is very time consuming. Switching from dads bike to mom’s bike isnt something that can be done in a flash. Maybe this is something that can be refined in further iterations of the product. I have a few ideas how to fix this which I will test on my seat. Other than that, me and my daughter both really enjoy the product.
Once installed, is the seat supposed to swivel backward or is it pretty immovable on the bike? Is there a certain frame it won't work with. I have a GT aggressor pro
I can’t for the life of me figure out how to safely start and ride the bike without lowering my seat. Raising my seat up while riding doesn’t seem like a good idea (not super easy to ride with my kid and unlatch the post, raise it, then latch again, and if I need to quickly put my foot down I won’t be able to), but inclines are killing my legs at the lowered position.

My daughter is about to turn 2 and she absolutely loves going for a ride with her WeeRide front seat. Since she is slowing growing out of it and now I feel she would be able to balance and hold herself well enough, I'll be looking to upgrade to one of these. But I do have at least one question jumping out at me. What is stopping the seat from slipping forward? I can see that the footrest bolts would prevent too much slip back, but it seems the only thing preventing forward slip is the side pressure from the swingarms. I'd be a little concerned that this isn't sufficient when the road gets bumpy. Anybody with experience of these seats jump in here to advise if my concerns are warranted? Thanks 🙂

5 point of protection didn’t protect the axle to damage the frame. Even if I made a mistake in stalling, there is no warning about about axle rubbing the down tube. May be I made a mistake angling the arms on my flat tube but I didn’t read any where to watch out for axle to rub the down tube if done a certain way.

Hi Jonathan. What size handlebars does the Trek have? Our original Shotgun bars are suitable for the 3 most common sizes (24.4, 31.8 and 35mm). We do recommend that the shotgun seat is designed for mountain bikes. Having a bike with front suspension gives you more space between the wheel and where the kids feet will be, that being said we do see people using them on bikes without front suspension. Axle damaged the bottom tube. What did I do wrong? The seat kept sliding down the seat post and the initial clearance of the axle was no longer in place and started to rub the tube. There should be some sort of rubber sleeve provided to cover the axle after it’s installed. May be I made a mistake installing but the axle worked like nails and scratches the frame. I am really annoyed. It’s a brand new bike. I had the 3M wrap on the frame but looks like it went thru it. How can I share pictures?

Hi, it looks like an amazing opportunity to interact with my 2-years-old toddler. Though I'm still concerned about safety - has this product passed any safety tests? Unlike the other child seats, on this one child moves completely freely.
Hey Tomas thanks for your message. The seat is tested for kids up to 22kg and complies with standards where applicable, more info on that here kidsrideshotgun.com/pages/safety. We'd say that our customers find the seat to be very safe, having your kid up front gives you a far better centre of gravity than a rear mount and allows you to use a full suspension bike. Your child is also situated right between your arms and legs and with them in front, you have good communication with them and can see and feel exactly how they're experiencing the ride. Hey Ryan, it should be a tight fit, but of course you need to be able to get it on fairly easily so if you are finding it tricky to go back over then I'd try loosen it a touch. The quick release bolt should give you the last bit of grip you need meaning you can loosen the top off a little if needed. Thanks, Hugh
Hey, unfortunately the seat isn't designed for Ebikes due to the battery size and placement. The shotgun can fit bikes up to 100mm wide on the bottom bracket but it will actually be the large difference between the top and down tube which will cause the fitting issues. We have a seat designed specifically for Ebikes coming early 2021 though 👍 Thanks, Hugh

Hey, unfortunately I don't think you'll get a good fit on the FX3. The reason being that front suspension gives good clearance between the down tube and the front wheel. This is where the kids feet go and without enough clearance you'll catch their feet when you turn hard. It's close on the FX3 if there's enough space but I wouldn't recommend it unless you can visit a store and try one out 👍
Hey Brad, afraid not. As the shotgun mounts to the top tube, if your brake cable runs along the top of the top tube then there is the potential for the shotgun to affect the working of that cable. As such we don't advise it. Thanks, Hugh
Just a question about how you guys setup the suspension with the seat. Do you guys pump more air into the fork or use the lockout feature of the fork? Awesome product by the way!
@@marknoad6516 Thanks for the advice Mark. I did what you recommended and found I didn't bottom out the fork and it was still fun on some easy green trails.
add some air to have your 15-20% or whatever that you are usually riding.with! Or just add a bit of compression and it should work okay... I wouldnt bother adding air everytime just for little and smooth ride with the kid. 😅
Just bought one of these waiting for it to arrive. My only concern was that there’s no restraint around the child. Can anyone confirm if this is an issue.
Hey Tez, hopefully someone will come back to you here but we'll add our thoughts as well (our Facebook page is also a good place to get feedback from other shotgun users). We haven't ever found the kid not being strapped in to be an issue. When riding you'll find your little one is nestled nicely between your arms and legs which feels safe, and as they're such an active participant in the ride being up front, they can see bumps and corners as they come as well as having constant communication with you. We'd advise if you have any concerns just taking it easy to begin with until your little one is used to sitting on the seat and gets a feel for cornering etc when riding on your bike. Thanks, Hugh

Hey Joanne, the shotgun was designed for mountain bikes and having front suspension is a key part to the effective fitting. This allows good clearance between the front wheel and the down tube which is often very narrow in classic bikes. Hey thanks for your thoughts. Once you've set the seat up the first time and dialled it in, we'd say it's about 1 minute to get it on or off. Perhaps not lightening fast, but still pretty quick :)
yeah I think its a good try but I would not recommend for people ridding carbon bikes clamping anything to a carbon frame can even sometime void warranties if im not mistaken. If y'all can find a way increase people confidence that bike won't be damaged then I think you are for sure in the game against others like Mac ride

I have a Trek fx1 disc hybrid and the handle bar won't fit and the seat bar is really close to the wheel.

Hi guys, I’ve tried fitting mine but my top tub is narrower then the bottom tube. So it’s coming down into a upside down V shape? Is that normal?

Any chance that the seat will fit a Trek FX3 (2020)? Says that it'll only fit mountain bikes but it looks like it might fit a hybrid like the FX3 too?

I have one and normally run 15psi more on the fork it jst sits abit more level and I don’t touch the rear sag

I've decided to give up on my hunt for a seat attachment and use the trailer that we already have. I was thibking that I wouldn't be able to attach it but it worked out perfectly. Could a shotgun b mounted on to classique bike??
Hey Joanne, the shotgun was designed for mountain bikes and having front suspension is a key part to the effective fitting. This allows good clearance between the front wheel and the down tube which is often very narrow in classic bikes. If you let me know which bike you're thinking of I can give you a more definite answer though. Cheers, Hugh

Hey, thanks for the kind words. The shotgun won't be a good fit for the Decoy I'm afraid as it wasn't designed for Ebikes, however we do have an Ebike model coming out early 2021!

The quick release has absolutely no function, and even if it did, it wouldnt matter because you have to undo the foot pegs anyway

should have made the foot pegs permenant and added a second quick release.. looks .. not quick..
Hey thanks for your thoughts. Once you've set the seat up the first time and dialled it in, we'd say it's about 1 minute to get it on or off. Perhaps not lightening fast, but still pretty quick :)

yeah I think its a good try but I would not recommend for people ridding carbon bikes clamping anything to a carbon frame can even sometime void warranties if im not mistaken. If y'all can find a way increase people confidence that bike won't be damaged then I think you are for sure in the game against others like Mac ride
