@John Disgraceland - Thank you very much for watching and posting a comment. I am very glad to learn that this video made you a fan of "Berlin School" music. Kindly stay tuned, we'll cover more synthesizer ground on my Vlog....
I really love this performance: beautiful melodies bringing together two cultural idioms (the traditional, rural, almost ancient and the modern era electronica), once separated by time and distance but now unified by music. Magnificent!!
Peter Kazimierski Hello Peter, yes indeed ! The studio is very impressive. But i can assure you that Bernie and Frank are also able to make great music with just one piece of their keyboard equipment.
MrKayMrKay Thank you for your comment. It's highly appreicated. I have to research the "grand piano on stage" matter a bit more, but as far as I remember Peter Baumann was using a modified piano for some early records. The band was also using Fender Rhodes Pianos. The piano solo at the beginning of Ricochet Part 2 was recorded at the Manor Studio, thus it was not live on stage.
Karl Avery Thank you very much for watching the Vlog and writing a comment. I am glad you like it. Looking forward to making your day again... ;-) Have a great day, Ralph :-)
planetmusicsamos Thank you very much for watching the video and leaving a supportive and encouraging comment. I am very glad you like it ! Thanks again!

+mark noel Hello Mark, Thank you very much for checking out my channel. It’s highly appreciated. The “Kraftwerk” classic sound is a very good topic. I will definitely keep it in mind for future episodes. As a matter of fact Bernie and I have already made some modular synthesizer tutorials. Here’s the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLlJvIUzIwQ78MwE-ZyCN0a59pzk1VMKXt.html There’s more to come in the future! Kindly stay tuned to my channel… Cheers Ralph
+mark noel Hi Mark, no worries! I am not going to stop! As a matter of fact I have big plans for my UA-cam channel. Today I have spoken to Bernie at the Happy Knobbing Modular Synthesizer Meeting and we have decided on the topics for our next Vlogs. Greetings Ralph
Great glad to read this. Perfect ill check all this tutorials Ill wait the kraftwerk video would really appreciate that. When I'll listen u saying "this is a response for subricriber mark noel kraftwerk topic bla bla" I'll know I'm playing a great video. Thanks for your great work I'm sure this channel will grow
mark noel Hi Mark, I will definitely keep the Kraftwerk topic in mind. But I can’t say when I am going to tackle it, there are so many things on my list right now. Thanks again for your support! It’s highly appreciated. Greetings Ralph
millord111 Dein Track gefällt mir ab Minute 16 so richtig gut. Gute Vibes! Weitere Vlogs werden von uns kommen. No worries ! Wir haben eine Menge Input auf diversen Social Media Kanälen bekommen; da haben wir genügend Stoff zum Vloggen...
+Jos Durkstra Hello Jos, thanks for watching my video. As soon as on "Ricochet" in 1975, TD was performing with Piano Sounds on stage. But the Piano was pre receorded in a studio, and thus was playing from tape during the live concerts. What "ThAU" wants to do, is to bring a grand piano live on stage for their upcoming tour (if possible, considering the logisitcs). Greetings, Ralph
To get a bit nerdy... Edgar Froese used the (portable!) Yamaha CP70 stage grand piano from '76 onwards, but he didn't integrate it into the music as ThAU do very nicely here. The CP70 is heard on many TD concert fan recordings of the 70s, but used as an introduction - or even a joke, as Edgar quotes some classical piece, or a national anthem. Edgar also used a booming Mellotron grand piano sound live, and notably on Sorcerer. TD did play live versions of the opening of Ricochet Pt2, but' like the LP, the sequencer takes over from the piano, as Edgar goes to his Tron or guitar :-)
Fantastic vlog that piece that they played was amazing, does Thau have a soundcloud or youtube or somewhere online that i can listen to more of their work? Also can't wait for the system 100 video and extra thumbs up for saying my name with the french accent! :)
Louis-andré Rousseau Thank you very much for your encouraging feedback. I am glad that i pronounced your name correctly. And here's the UA-cam channel of Bernd-Michael Land. You will also find some Thau music on this channel. Enjoy the music! ua-cam.com/users/chiachia1985
MX Entertainment Thanks for your comment. Yes, Hans Zimmer is a synth and composing wizard! My personal favorite of his work is the soundtrack of the movie "The Fan" Greetings, Ralph
MX Entertainment Absolut, der Soundtrack bringt dermassen viel Druck, Tiefe und Energie in den Film, dass man schon glauben könnte, der Movie wäre nach der der Musik gedreht worden.....
nice music, not knocking it, but not Berlin School !? Call it for what it is, a room full of potential, boxes of exploration, endless years of investigation, toys and boys, but Berlin School? that was an era that is no longer here. This is 2015, the year of anything goes, let's create new music, or does Berlin School mean something from the past? if so, let the museums play it out.
Miki Simans Thanks for watching the video and writing that comment. You raised a valid point there! As a matter of fact, I have already spoken to Bernie about this topic casually over a coffee. I would like to address it with Bernie and Frank (the musicians) in one of the forthcoming Vlogs. Greetings, Ralph
What a treat for those of us who are fans of Berlin School electronic music, and very informative. I liked the first piece, and LOVED the second!

Hi guys! Keep on making "Berlin school alive!".
About piano in BS music, I think TD used it a whole lot in the seventies on Ricochet part II

As early as 1976 Edgar Froese played acoustic piano in TD........ (Stratosfear).
