As you can probably tell, we're a multiracial family (or interracial family or mixed family - whichever term you prefer). Carmen is Chinese and Belgian, and mostly grew up in Hong Kong. Serge's parents are both from Benin in West Africa, and he was born and raised in NYC.

Saving time is such a huge advantage of the carry on option! Also once we started using packing cubes and or the rolling technique, it was a complete game changer for our packing!

We travel with personal items so
My 5 kids use a kids suit case and Parsi am item as a carry on works well ❤
I recomend putting small items in outside of the packing cube to fill up the space made by the handle or gaps between the cubes. Then when packing packing cubes, they not only condence the big stuff, while also providing enough weight to condence socks, undies, tank tops and stuff that I stuff in all of the cracks. I find I can pack more like this!

So glad this was helpful! And as I think I mention in this video, if you get spinners, one adult can easily push two suitcases, in those situations where he's too tired (or just going too slow lol).

Thank you do much for this video!!! Very informative. I will be traveling soon with my children for the first time ever on a plane. School age children. How do the children bring shoes with the shacke pack set? I didn't see one that has a shoe bag.
We’re about to take our first flight with our kids. I feel carry on only is great- our tickets include 1 carry on and 1 personal item for each ticket. That means 4 carry ons, and 4 personal items. So going up, we’ll have 4 carry ons packed and 1 personal item sized bag for all valuables and electronics. That means for the flight back, we will be able to utilize the 3 unused personal item bags for things we might accumulate on the trip. 8 bags is MORE than enough, at least for my family.
I convinced my friend to only carry a bookbag or carryon. She was checking her bags all the time in 1 large suitcase.

@@JenRearick I know! It’s so crazy how much people will pay for something this small I got my suitcase a tjmaxx for 40 dollars and it has lasted over 5 years!
