The Fjallraven kanken backpacks are great and are so pricey because they last! They were originally made for Swedish school children in the 70s to help with back problems. They even get passed down sometimes because they can last 10, 20, even 30 years if you take care of them. Definitely an investment, but worth it (at least to me) because they’re so durable. I love mine!
Fatima Cervantes either the classic kankan or the laptop kankan. They both hold a lot but the main difference is that the classic holds a 13 inch laptop whereas the laptop version holds a 15 inch. Hope this was helpful!

They’re both spacious and will hold a lot, but the laptop version will hold a little more. I think the classic kankan is a solid purchase, but if you really have a lot to carry I would go with the laptop kankan.

We flew a lot as kids and we had Gameboys, several games, batteries (back before rechargable Gameboys), anything that would keep us entertained on an international flight.
100% agree. My daughter has a Amazon tablet, which she uses on special occasions (like travelling abroad or long car journeys) or every now and then at home. Really don't see a problem with it as long as people don't shove their kids on them so they don't have to parent....which is clearly not what's at play here 😊 until you're a perfect parent 100% of the time...less judgement pleas ✌🏻

Regarding electronics, behaviour deteriorates when kids are bored so I think it's good to use electronics during flights. The balance of non electronics and electronics will be achieved and is different for each family.
y’all are such great parents! We need electronics and a full cooler of food for a 2hr plane ride with two kids (I’m the 16 year old sister of a nine year old and a four year old)
Kankens do last. I had one as my bag at university, then it was my work bag, then after having babies my changing bag (diaper bag) and now my 5 year old uses it as a school bag! That’s almost 11 years of near constant use, and it’s still going strong!
I feel like electronics are a must, even just for 15 minutes, in every flight with littles. It calms them down or distracts them from the nervous feelings they get. I just recently flew with 4 little kids ages 5,3, and twin 16 month olds and the babies got a little agitated while waiting for take off. I popped a video on for 5 minutes and then turned it off and they were fine. It saved a meltdown.
Tip for going through security with many kids and providing them with tablets: Before passing security keep all the electronics together in a backpack then hand them out to your children after passing security. This tip is mostly for younger kids but can also help with making sure that no electronic gets lost.
This is actually a very nice idea. Since the bags are different colors the kids are able to recognize wich one is theirs. They are actually responsible of their things by using their own bag. Nice
Kind of random, but I love how you've been doing your hair lately with the curlier look and the sides pulled back! (like in this video) It's super cute!! And kind of sassy 😊 Hope the flight went smoothly!
OMG... I do something similar! I have 4 children and they are all made to pack their own travel bags. They are pros at it now. Only difference is I add a sweatshirt to their bags when in airports... The system works!
2019 moms having to apologize for using electronics and snacks to entertain kids on a trip My parents in the 90’s here take the Benadryl and go to sleep we’ll see you when we get there 😂😂😂😂
I really hope nobody would hate on you for bringing electronics 💜 I’m pretty sure that’s what most of us moms rely on during these kinds of trips with lots of kids, in order to keep our sanity! You do you, mama!! Love the backpacks! Enjoy your trip!!
Angela Braniff - I completely agree. We actually don’t allow our kids (13 and 16) to play any video games because it impacts their behavior. I totally get it.
My mom has 8 kids and what she does is tells us what we need to pack, and checks our bags but if we loose anything it’s on us, but she gets the 2 older kids to make sure we have everything about halfway on the trip, and it works well
And for the backpacks. Get Vera Bradley for the girls. They are crazy expensive but they’re adorable and last forever. I still use mine from like 3 years ago and it’s in perfect condition
Btw those backpacks are really good. I have a black one that I have my medical stuff in them, snacks for my low blood sugar, and stuff for my service dog alizo like his boots, poop bags and a clapsable water bowl
my mother let me start packing my suitcase on my own at 8. She used to have me lay out what I want to take then she would add (or remove) stuff from it. It gave me a sense of independence and I also didn't have to shout "MUMMA!! where's my ______" every time I needed something. For my carry-on, I almost always pack it on my own (my mom did put in snacks tho) Great video though!
I suggest keeping all the snacks in one big ziplock and then pass out to the family. Sometimes TSA makes you take out all food from your bags- that would be a lot of work to empty all of those backpacks.
My kanken backpack has lasted my entire school year being thrown around and carrying upwards of 5 textbooks a day and still looks brand new. Worth every penny!!
I love Kånken backpacks! But if I carry a lot of stuff in it, the shoulder straps don't feel nice... But they sell some shoulder pads that help 😊 ps. Did you know that the gray thing can be used as a seat pad 👌🏻
I love watching these videos because it gives me ideas on what to bring in my every day bag since my commute is kinda long. And no shame with electronics! Without them there isn't much to do in a plane tbh.
I actually use a Kanken for my diaper bag! It quickly replaced my JuJuBe and I love how comfy it is, the openness, and how sturdy it is! They’re so worth the investment in my opinion!
Jessica Jones we kept them all in dads backpack until we got through security and that worked well! Plus, in the family line at security the kids didn’t have to remove shoes 🙌🏼
I love the Kanken backpacks, I got 3 of them 17inch, original and mini. They are water proof. The Kanken logo is a reflector. That pad in the back is also a seat pad and pad to help your back. They also donate their money to help save the foxes if you get special ones. They are easy to clean. They are extremely light. They are versatile and very durable. Easily packable in a suitcase if you don't need to use it right away. These bags where made for school kids to help their backs. Very simple style. Made nicely. The brand is very outdoorsy. I hope you enjoyed them.
For kids that you can’t trust with you can get Melissa and Doug water wow pads that have a special pen you add water to and hen when the water goes from the pen onto pad colours and shapes appear on the pad. Great for young kids- mess free and when it dries the pad can be used over and over again in the future for pain, train, car journeys etc. Or for those that want something a little more permanent or slightly older kids that you still can’t trust with markers e.g. your 7 year old maybe the Crayola colour wander mess free kits are great. The markets only show up on the special paper that comes in the pack. They have so many different packs you can buy from paw patrol, pepper pig, toy story 4, Pj mask, spider man, Disney princess, Barbie and sooooooo many more. For a future journey getting these things for your kids you can guarantee no mess and yet let the kids have fun and be creative no matter where they are.
Thanks for this video, Angela! I am also a mom with one kid, and I use Nomad Lane Bento bag for her things especially her extra clothes, water, milk, junk foods and toys.I just love it coz everything she needs fit inside the bag.
I would definitely say the kankens are worth the price I saved up to buy my own and used it through almost all of high school and even now I’ve been out of hs it shows no sign of damage at all compared to my sisters bags that happen to rip every year so in the long run definitely worth it
Love that your dog is lying so comfortably in your bed, while you talk. Lol. I am not the only softie so it seems. Bless you and your family. 😃kind regards from a fan in England. 😃😄💕
Just some suggestions...Put all the tech in one bag! When you get to security, you will have to remove the tech from EVERY SINGLE bag and put it in a separate bin. Such a pain when you are trying to wrangle kids! After security you can readjust and give each kid their tech again. It really speeds things up. Also, those applesauces count as fluid so be mindful how much fluids you are bringing. Dont be surprised if they stop you guys and have to examine the snacks. Every airport is different, some care some dont. good luck!
I’m only 18 years old but these videos are so interesting because I was raised with just my older brother who’s 21 and this is so cool to see how people pack for a lot of people idek
iPads/ chewing sweeties/gum are essentials for kids in flights as far as I’m concerned! Long haul and short haul. My child eats the sweets when we start to descend as her ears hurt.... & it’s something she looks forward to. We have blue tooth head phones because she kept breaking the cords by accident and you know what she keeps herself entertained and that’s good on flights. She also has a kanken mini.. the seat pad has come in very useful on many occasions.
Just a thought, you might want to give the 2 oldest girls phones so when their taking care of the kids in the airport if they get lost with the kids they can find you.
Hey!! Love your videos. I’m not sure, but it looked like you older girls’ iPads didn’t have cases. I don’t know if you have cases now, but I’d totally get cases for them. Surely you wouldn’t want one of them to drop it. I’ve done that before, even with a case, and now my iPad has a huge crack. Love how organized you are!! Awesome job!!
So when having a big family, you don’t want to stress while preparing for a trip. So, you should teach the kids how to pack their own bags. A little tip is to start with picking what they pack then have them put it in their bag then tell them what they can’t pack like liquid or anything sharp. Have them pick their own things with a fun game where they only have like a minute to pick. Keep playing that game until they are comfy enough to pack without a game. That’s just my opinion and how I got taught.
Out extra pairs of clothes in back packs in case they loose luggage use vacuum bags especially for twins in case of accidents, skilled drinks, vomit you know what I mean.
you got it! less is more here. as a mom of small travelers, small bags and the ability to shed “weight” thru snacks is great bc let’s be real, you and your partner will be carrying those three little kankens:)
the backpacks are great!! i got mine about a year ago and i use it for everything! they’re definitely expensive but i think they’re totally worth it because i won’t have to buy another one for a long time!
I hear you on a spiritual level when you were talking about certain kids not being trusted with markers. 😂 One of mine repeatedly draws all over his face (and sometimes with furniture). He told the Stay and Play lady at the gym, “Look at my pretty face tattoos!” 🤪
I remember when I was little I used to bring so many crayons, toys, etc onto the plane, but then my mom would give me an extra iPad she brought and I completely ditched the toys. Every time it would be like that!
I’ve been traveling a lot with kiddos lately, with a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old and you can put water and/or milk in the bottles for the little ones before security. The TSA will open and test the content of the bottles, but if it’s for the young kids they allow it. It can be cheaper to fill the bottle with milk before leaving than to buy milk at the airport where everything is so expensive.
Something you might want to think about, whether for this trip or in the future, are those magic marker small activity books, that come with an invisible ink marker that reveals different things on every page. That way it’s something that they can keep with them in their bag to entertain themselves without you worrying about the mess or clean up. I believe I’ve seen them in the dollar spot at Target before. 20+ years ago when I was a child, that’s something my mother would always get for me every trip, and I always looked so forward to it (it was the only time I got specialty drawing activities outside of the usual crayons and coloring books, making it even more of an exciting treat). The invisible Crayola markers would also be a good alternative! Also, don’t ever feel like you have to justify electronic usage! Anyone who watches your channel knows how well rounded your kids are. Us adults utilize electronics while traveling to pass the time and entertain ourselves, why should kids be any different? Absolutely nothing harmful about that!
I know ur guys trip is done and I’m super late but for the future my mom used to make me and my siblings “busy boxes” they had stuff like LEGO,little figures and the were stored in in a metal lunch box so she also got small magnets to play with on the box!
Be careful with the straw cups! The pressure change might end up spewing all over the whole row of people in front of you.... they don’t appreciate the free shower ....
i think you did great Angie. never heard of these backpacks before. do a review. hun when you get back, I'm curious about them. do the kids play card games yet? that might be fun to bring along. fiddle-faddle on peoples opinions about the tablets. electronics are a way of life today, its the norm. we know your little people aren't watching smut or being pacified by a gadget. there are a lot of eductional tools i know you use. so folks can't just hush on that lol really hope the crew, flight attendants and other passengers are kind and respectful to your family. i hope it's a pleasant trip there and back home sugar nugget.

Those backpacks look fantastic if they do last! So hard to find durable backpacks. Great thinking with the wet wipes in each bag!
Thanks for this video, Angela! I am also a mom with one kid, and I use Nomad Lane Bento bag for her things especially her extra clothes, water, milk, junk foods and toys.I just love it coz everything she needs fit inside the bag.
I love how organized you are. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks:)
I would definitely say the kankens are worth the price I saved up to buy my own and used it through almost all of high school and even now I’ve been out of hs it shows no sign of damage at all compared to my sisters bags that happen to rip every year so in the long run definitely worth it
omg you spent 560$ on those backpacks... i cant even afford one lol
She would have not spent 560 USD. It would be around 370 USD. She has two original sizes which are 80$ and 3 minis which are like 70$.
Love that your dog is lying so comfortably in your bed, while you talk. Lol. I am not the only softie so it seems. Bless you and your family. 😃kind regards from a fan in England. 😃😄💕
Absolutely no judgement...do what your family needs when going on any vacation. Love the backpacks.
See’s the kids aw there cute, then see’s the dog at the intro of the video in the background, dies of cuteness!
i clicked this bc of the kanken but honestly this whole vid she was speaking facts! so im subbed now
Just some suggestions...Put all the tech in one bag! Every airport is different, some care some dont. good luck!
What--no fried chicken for Miss Rosie?!?! 🍗🍗😂😂
I love those backpacks I’ve invested in 2 and I think they’re the best way to travel. Ur littles having them is so adorable
My favorite backpacks! I have over 25... (I live in Sweden and I've bought all of them used)
I’m only 18 years old but these videos are so interesting because I was raised with just my older brother who’s 21 and this is so cool to see how people pack for a lot of people idek
Your kids are so lucky they have kankens and my backpack is from like walmart
iPads/ chewing sweeties/gum are essentials for kids in flights as far as I’m concerned!
I’m very satisfied on how organized this is!!🙌👏
no one gonna talk about that adorable puppy in the right hand corner in the intro
The things in the backs can pull out and they are seats or cushions for a football stand when your at a game or something
Where are the chargers?? I’m just curious lol
Cool video😎
I have a kindle fire, very glitchy I won it in a prize draw, it broke 5 years ago😂
i have a kånken, i actually got mine cut from 80 to 50 ! still quite pricey but definitely worth of how good they are, super cute too!
So glad your flight there went well (I saw on IG)!! Enjoy Dallas!!!
How are you going to deal with helping the kids ears pop when landing and take off?
Jessica B you just have to put up with it, I used to use gum till I got braces now I just deal
I just got a Fjallraven Kanken backpack today
the backpacks are great!! i got mine about a year ago and i use it for everything! they’re definitely expensive but i think they’re totally worth it because i won’t have to buy another one for a long time!
I hear you on a spiritual level when you were talking about certain kids not being trusted with markers. 😂 One of mine repeatedly draws all over his face (and sometimes with furniture). He told the Stay and Play lady at the gym, “Look at my pretty face tattoos!” 🤪
🤣🤣🤣🤣😍
I remember when I was little I used to bring so many crayons, toys, etc onto the plane, but then my mom would give me an extra iPad she brought and I completely ditched the toys. Every time it would be like that!
No one:

I’ve been traveling a lot with kiddos lately, with a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old and you can put water and/or milk in the bottles for the little ones before security. The TSA will open and test the content of the bottles, but if it’s for the young kids they allow it. It can be cheaper to fill the bottle with milk before leaving than to buy milk at the airport where everything is so expensive.
This is the most realist " Flying with kids " video i've ever seen
Oh we love those Imagine Ink markers and pads!
How are you allowed the peanut nature valley bars on a plane.
I know ur guys trip is done and I’m super late but for the future my mom used to make me and my siblings “busy boxes” they had stuff like LEGO,little figures and the were stored in in a metal lunch box so she also got small magnets to play with on the box!
Angela: “They’re really kinda stupid expensive”
Me: “because the made were made in Germany”
You mean Swedish
I am soo sad about the sister show! I absolutely loved it, and looked forward to it on Monday mornings.
You should get your kids invisible ink coloring pages
I have never even seen your channel! But I clicked on it because of the type of bag and water bottle and food!
😂🤣
Be careful with the straw cups! The pressure change might end up spewing all over the whole row of people in front of you.... they don’t appreciate the free shower ....
Sarah Vawter haha my brother did that once in a plane😂😂
i think you did great Angie. never heard of these backpacks before. do a review. hun when you get back, I'm curious about them. do the kids play card games yet? that might be fun to bring along. fiddle-faddle on peoples opinions about the tablets. electronics are a way of life today, its the norm. we know your little people aren't watching smut or being pacified by a gadget. there are a lot of eductional tools i know you use. so folks can't just hush on that lol really hope the crew, flight attendants and other passengers are kind and respectful to your family. i hope it's a pleasant trip there and back home sugar nugget.
How are Ivy and Amelia already two?! I can’t wait to see the new kiddo! Y’all are awesome parents! ❤️
Idk why but her voice is so relaxing. And yes I did click bc of the kanken and because these videos are so cool and relaxed.
My fjallraven kanken big back pack was 30(great price) pounds but my dad got it for 20😂😂
