Professional hairdresser here. Box dye is really not the problem. There’s some nice colors I’ve seen the problem is when people start mixing and matching and changing it up and trying to do this and try to do that at home with box dye that’s where you run into trouble. Beautiful color!
THANK YOU! Most box dyes nowadays are way gentler than they used to be! It drives me insane when hair dressers shame people for using box dye so they can charge 300+ for the same thing. Or they act helpful and give a formula but then use a "professional" brand no one can buy without a cosmetology license anyways. I've seen dye from Sally's do wayyyy more damage than box dyes- it's all in how you apply it. I've always dyed my hair with box dye and when I do happen to go in to get it done I lie and tell them it was done professionally lol. They all nod and say "yeah I can tell it looks great!" and change it to what I want no issue. Then they say it "went so well because it had been done professionally" before. It's absolutely ridiculous. I will die on this hill that box dye is not bad lmao.
Hello, can you suggest me some good boxdye? I bleached my hair twice so its very light and healed now, i wanna go a bit darker like a warm toned "true blonde"
@@catfishy7660 use Wella Demi (blue box) w/ 10v developer @ Sally Beauty supply. Start with a shade or two lighter than you want. You can always darken it if it’s too light.
Can you do a long video that talks about how box dye and professional dye are different and why it’s better? I’ve always wondered! I’ve seen you explain your formula a bit but now I think I should go back and actually try it out!! Can we buy the products without a cosmetology license? Also, if I have naturally black hair will the formula still work? Thanks!
Box dyes contain a lot of metallic salts that build up in your hair and lead to discolouration if you ever go to see a professional for a colour service. Box dyes also usually use the strongest volume of developer (peroxide 40vol) which is unnecessary especially when you are not lifting and only depositing colour. Box dyes are usually also permanent colour which again, unnecessary damage if you do not have over 50% grey hair. Source: i am currently studying to be a hairdresser please go to you local hair supply store and mix your own hair colour, use a Demi permanent colour with 9vol developer your hair will thank you
Yes you can achieve this exact color with box dye. I have been coloring my hair with box for 29 years now. It's this exact color which is loreal power reds. I have only once gone to a salon and I hated it, plus way over priced. There is zero difference between box and what is used in a salon. The only difference is technique and thats it. Don't fouled people, especially by salon techs who just want to sell their products.
I agree. I've regularly used various box dyes for 15 years now and also sometimes go in if I'm feeling lazy. I lie to the hairdresser because I know they'll be obnoxious and shame me and they always go "Oh yeah I can tell it's professional, it looks great!" and can remove it/change it fine every time. They literally cannot tell what is box dye and what's professional.
Please no box dye!! It’s really bad for your hair. Here’s the details on my latest color formula ua-cam.com/video/SmEpRa4oljE/v-deo.htmlsi=u1uT8YSOWrT2h5DA
@@Kimochisukioh that shit ain't going nowhere once it's in your hair dear. As a henna user for several years, it's both great and bad. It's great because it's natural and actually helps your hair to be stronger, esp if you mix in some oils and other herbs as OC suggested. It does not fade so fast as professional hair dyes, but my god, if you suddenly decide you no longer want to be a redhead... best of luck to get it out! It's practically impossible. I had to literally grow my henna hair off to get rid of the color😅
Hooooow can a human do this! I feel like I’m obsessing over these episodes to get some kind of why. Because it makes absolutely no sense. Beautiful daughter, beautiful son and a husband. Why why why. Bless that little boy.
I get a minimum of 3 compliments of my box-dyed hair everytime I go out. I've had professional hair stylists ask me if it was my natural color, because it is beautiful. Stop spreading misinformation. Box dye is great. Idiots who don't know how to use it properly, are the problem.

That pretty funny. I think the biggest issue is when clients have gone dark and then it’s an issue.you are right. It probably the exact same color.

Which color box do you use
@ryannedepp0812 loreal power Reds. I've been using it for years and years. My kids who are in their early adults don't even know my true color.

@@jMichaels878 so true, they can't!
So basically the winner of this competition is the box dye. Given that hair is “accidentally” switched with the professional dye.
