I get alternator PTSD nowadays, and good luck trying to get your labour back , every alternator is a gamble nowadays and starters also.

Really feel your pain - sometimes you get those weeks where it’s doomed from day one. I’m finding my usual suppliers are really going down the drain, take no responsibility and can barely string a sentence together. No appreciation for how much they can ruin your day! Great work as always though.

I had too many bad experiences with euros telling me parts were on their way. 5:50pm part turns up, 6 hours late, and incorrect. That and their rotating electrics being unreliable. I just stopped using them for anything except branded filters, I just couldn’t make money with them causing me problems like that. Then chasing refunds for months.
Hope you have more luck with the next alternator! 👍🏼
Bosch, Delco remy, denso are probably the best alternators - not always available though - but you know this already 👍🏼

Lucas parts are very poor these days. OE is the only way to go, but no discount & higher prices. My golden rule, quote for OE starters or alternators, if the customer doesn't like that, best he goes elsewhere. No money in doing stuff twice.

If you are employed, you fit a duff part, you still get paid to replace it. On your own , you lose out, fix it free, possible lost customer & wait for credit for the crap parts.
