I have to disagree with your suggestion of a rechargeable battery. I'd much rather use replaceable rechargeable NiMH AA's than a built-in battery because built in batteries have a life span.
The best argument against rechargeable batteries if if you forget to charge it, you can easily swap em out. I do agree, this one would probably be pretty simple to do and charge fast. My JW was talking to be about the bosch grade laser when I mentioned it being rechargeable. Those things run on C/D and I am sure would take half a day to charge.
Not the toy I was looking for. I want something that triangulates. I don’t need all of the inclinometers. Just shoot a, shoot b, and the tool spits out c. We had a laser like that in the mine. So people didn’t have to get out from underneath supported top, in order to take measurements. Or pull a shield up in the face and not be able to push it back. It was like $400 back in 2012. I was wrong. This thing does have that capability I was talking about, and it is a pretty great tool. 1yr later.

It is about time someone told Bosch about rechargeable batteries. Cross-hair ... dang it, just build it with a decent green laser in it. I have a laser pointer that blows away all of these laser measuring tools and it cost less than one tenth what this thing does.

A 4th grade class could have done a better job of designing a user manual and the tool itself. I'm now about 3 hours in to using this thing and very disappointed. Don't buy it unless you have 20 hours to devote to decoding the user manual. Hint: Print pages 2 and 17 before you get to page 20 or thereabouts which is where they start to tell you how to use the tool. As to slinging dimensions to my phone, I have zero faith that it's going to happen. If it were a real tool it would sling to Windows. As to the polarity markings inside the battery compartment, they're in there, if you have a microscope to see them.

The regular batteries are better because you can always buy rechargeable double A's and in pinch you can always get batteries anywhere
