Your surgeon is a serious malpractitioner to not tell you prior to surgery that he was going to do an experiment on you, in another context this would be considered abuse.

You should definitely do something, or at least try and get the surgeon to say exactly what they will do.

As a trans student nurse this frustrates the hell out of me! You have 100% medical right to be FULLY INFORMED and then give your INFORMED CONSENT! I'm so so sorry this happened to you, I really hope the future brings you to peace with your scars and body (and/or the revision goes ahead) god that's half the goal with top surgery. Thank you so much for opening up and sharing this to warn other trans guys, I'm 180 days from surgery (yes I'm counting) and I'm going to be sure to recheck placement with my surgeon.

Please give us an update on this. This surgeon committed malpractice. This isn't just about you. This is about a surgeon who used your desperation and pain to learn a new procedure. This was not an experimental new procedure. This was a surgeon who was not respecting you as a person.
This is malpractice against the LGBTQ community. Most people will not pursue sue in this situation because of the shame and fear of having to talk about being trans to so many people. You don't have to take this all on yourself. There are legal organizations that would love to take on a case like this because this is so clearly malpractice and because taking on this case will protect all of the LGBTQ community. Lambda Legal is the most likely to be excited about your case. GLAD are also LGBTQ legal advocates and defenders.
Please pursue legal action about your botched surgery. This should not have happened to you. This surgeon took advantage of you. There are lots of plastic surgeons saying they do top surgery just like your surgeon. This is a very specialized procedure that comes with a lot of shame and fear of doctors. It is the surgeon's job to give full and complete information about the surgery and this surgeon hid those things from you. She is not unique. Please help others in the community by standing up and taking legal action against this malpractice.

Oh man, I'm so sorry that your surgeon didn't give you what you wanted. I hope you can get your revision ASAP. I can't imagine what a shock you had when your chest was revealed. Since top surgery is coming in the next 6 months for me, I'm really grateful that you made this video. I had no idea that I should ask about "what if scenario". I already talked with my surgeon about scar placement and we agree about the shape and location. Your surgeon should not do FTM top surgery ever again.

I've got top surgery in a couple of months and this video is very helpful. I'm getting public funded surgery which I'm very grateful for but my surgeon wasn't quite as negotiable with some aspects of the surgery which people online have told me to discuss with my surgeon. For example, I said that I would like to have scars that slightly curve up at the sides and follow the line of the muscle, and he said that usually they aim for straight but that I should just remind him about it before surgery. I also said I would like to have the scars directly on the contour of the peck muscles and he said that that particular thing isn't in his control because it's more about genetics, length of the muscle, skin available to them, etc. So I think I will make sure to double check all of that stuff with him as well as nipple placement. Thank you for sharing.

I'm so sorry this happened to you Ohan. I think your results look really good, but I understand the complete mindf*ck of it not being what you expected or wanted, and I think it's totally the surgeon's mistake, not yours. They should have read up on what this procedure tends to look like, and talked about any deviation from that they had in mind with you, and about what you wanted. From what you seem to be having issues with, it doesn't look like it's impossible to "fix" though. That skin under your scars looks like it could be removed, and if you wanted the nipples could be grafted and placed sort of where your incisions are, I think. And I think you'd make a good candidate to be sponsored by Flavnt for your revision. I'd def. get something from them to support your cause.

viewhue thank you so much, this was so lovely to read. I would love to work with flavnt to raise some funds especially for travel and stay since most of my funds would go towards the surgery itself. They're currently working with my pal Spencer but who knows what could be next!

I saw my surgery for my 15 week post op visit. I have one huge nipple bud that I asked her about, cause it bothers me. She said it looks like a female nipple. i was in shock when she said that. i asked her during my consultation if there as any reason for a revision that it would be covered. She told me it would cost up to $200 and be a 2 day healing time, that I could just do it on a friday and have the weekend off from work. I work whenever my work schedules me. I dont usually get weekends off and I dont want to have to go back. She kept telling me she had ocd and that she would make my scars the same height, length, etc and that my nipples would be the same shape and have the same placement. I'm not comparing my surgery to yours, just wanted to share my experience with you. Hopefully you get what you want soon:) Have a good day mate:)

Dr Garramone is the bomb - hope it works out for you, I'm excited to see your results! Based on the amount of tissue you have left over and where your pecs are visible when you bend over, I really feel like your results will be night and day! Good luck dude! :)

Thank you for posting this. I wrote down the questions you said you wish you had asked. I'm sorry you didn't get the results you wanted. I think your results look good but I totally feel for you not being informed of this first. That sucks big time and your surgeon should have told you all of this beforehand - you should not have needed to ask! This is 100% your surgeon's fault, not yours.

    Thank you for this video!
I actually had a plan A and B without realizing it, and ended up with the plan B, which was somehow better than A, but sometimes I wish I had gotten A instead.
I had peri and my results are not bad at all, however, I do have some left over tissue and when I bend it looks like I have small boobs. It looks like the chest of a fat person when I'm actually skinny (not saying it looks bad, just that it doesn't align with my body type). Option A was to have horizontal scars going from the sides of the areolas. The doctor said it wasn't necessary to take off extra skin, and I was supper happy first, but now I'm aware that I have extra skin and tissue left.
Anyway, I wish you the best of lucks with your revision. Your chest looks good, but I can see how you'd want it to be better. I'm in the same spot.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. That is 100% your surgeon's fault for failing to communicate with you. It is never the patient's responsibility for that sort of thing; the surgeon is always supposed to convey informed consent to the patient.
Btw, for anyone who just quickly wants to see the questions to ask at a consult, they are:
    - Where will my scars be?
    - What shape will my scars be?
    - Contingency plan: what if they can't do your preferred procedure?

I feel like no matter how many questions you would have asked you still wouldn't have what you wanted. They sell you a lie.... They see you are desperate and vulnerable and they take advantage of you and litterally see you as a $$ lifetime patient... Which sadly is typically true with transitions. I think you are adorable just as you are and I hope you are happy.

    Hi Tamar,
My name is Jordan Forrest Miller, and I am a PhD candidate at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been working on my dissertation on trans UA-cam videos for a couple years now, specifically focusing on public health implications of video responses to two projects: #WeHappyTrans and #TheGenderTag. Your video response was included in my content analysis. In my work I would like to use the name that vloggers feel most comfortable with. I am happy to use your stated name in your video, an updated chosen name, your username, or a pseudonym. Do you have a preference?
