The audacity of her to constantly remind everyone and their mom about how she’s a bisexual, woman of color and a huge feminist but then... makes jokes about domestic abuse?? You claim to care about all women and pride yourself on being a woman but then... you laugh at a female victims experience and other possible victims who had to hear that “joke”... and the fact that domestic abuse is a fear many women have and they had to watch that bit, too. fantastic job, Lilly. You’re really pushing the feminist agenda and making us look great.
And for anyone who tries it: dark humor is self deprecating humor. For example, it would be like a depressed person making a joke about their own depression; *they* are the butt of the joke, no one else. It wouldn’t be saying something racist or sexist and then saying “it’s just a joke” when you don’t get laughs OR using shock humor for cheap, uncomfortable laughs.

Hi hello I am a Canadian who was present throughout the entire Justin Trudeau scandal. The country collectively agrees its fine to make fun of Justin because of the stupid circumstances that he did it in. Blackface is obviously not okay in any respect, but he did it 20 years ago and everyone knows it doesn’t reflect the person he is now. I think Lilly was just making sure nobody would lump her in under the group of people that are genuinely triggered over what he did

I feel like Lilly is trying to do Seth Meyer’s segment, “Jokes Seth Can’t Tell,” where he brings out two of his female writers, Amber Ruffin, who is Black, and Jenny Hagel, who is gay, and he opens each joke and lets them finish it. Each joke is only appropriate if the women told it. The segment ends with Amber and Jenny inviting Seth to tell one of the jokes, and then taking mock offense at it. I personally find it funny, whereas Lilly’s segment is just plain sad. There’s nothing funny about it, not even the shock value.
