It was Cory Wong that came up with the idea of doing this collab, and reached out to Dirty Loops, and the horn section also came with him. They released a whole album, "Turbo", together. There are four videos out from that album. Two on Dirty Loops' Channel (this one and a cover of "Thriller") and two instrumental ones on Cory Wong's channel ("Turbo" and "Ring of Saturn"). The whole album is absolutely brilliant. Jonah (iirc) said in an interview that "Follow the Light", "Thriller", and "Hästråtta" are the three songs on that album that Dirty Loops wrote (well, arranged in the case of Thriller, as that was written by Rod Temperton) the most of, and the other four songs were led by Cory Wong. Can warmly recommend any song from that album. Also, when the album was released, Dirty Loops and Cory Wong (and the horn section) had never even met. They did the whole collab via skype, email, and the like. Dirty Loops did all of their recording and filming in Stockholm, Sweden, while Cory Wong and the horns did their parts in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Aron Mellergård (the drummer of Dirty Loops) is the one who did the video editing (as he does for basically all Dirty Loops' videos) to make it look like they were in the same studio.
Enjoyed the reaction and one of the most common experiences every Loops fan has had is the song ending in a way just leaving you yearning for more. I don't have the technical knowledge to say for sure but I think one of their tricks-along with all the good stuff you mentioned-is they end the song on a chord or some such that is not the resolution we've been trained to expect. Like I say I don't know for sure but they do this so regularly it's definitely designed in rather than just a coincidence. I've also always thought Cory's mix is way, way down in this song but whenever I get an inkling of it it is always creatively supporting and embellishing the overall rhythm of the song. Had a good time listening to this song with you. This is a good vibe classic already.
You made me laugh again, my friend :) Creaky chair, brain fuse blown whilst listening to this phenomenal music ;) and those umpah strains whilst getting something in order LOL, and yeah, one gets that 80s vibe… The very first few bars of the intro are taken from the Baywatch theme…then they come in with those funky hits. And I agree, Cory hangs very much back there, also in Thriller, doing his tight rhythm guitar thing, adding a lot of funk and drive. Cory contacted Jonah and said: Hey should we do a collab? Jonah: yeah, let’s do a song together, man. Cory: nah, not just a song, let’s do an album. Jonah, surprised: why not….. (Loosely taken from an interview of Jonah on ‘Stratele Studio’s’ YT channel.) The whole album is so good. In that collab between him and the Loops, there are some numbers where they’ve done more of the arranging, and some others featuring more of Cory’s and his horn section. There is a third and fourth track with a video added to it: “Turbo” and “Ring of Saturn”. Both of those are more Cory-led and feature some PHENOMENAL wind and brass solos, as well as another great solo from Henrik. Someone used the term ‘The Spider’ to describe another guitarist because of his fingers being all over the fretboard. Just like Henrik’s, I’m thinking 😉 This track here is doubly amazing, considering that it was filmed and recorded in two separate locations, and those guys had never even met at that point. So Grace Kelly, the blue-haired sax player, reacted to Henrik’s solo because she must’ve heard it on the DLoops recording…it’s such a nice stank face :) All of these guys and girls are beasts. Check out ‘Turbo’ next, it truly is on fire 🔥 Also great: Dirty Loops with ‘Rock You’ 🔥🔥🔥 👍☺️
Okay, a few tidbits here. This could end up being a long one. This grouping of musicians did, I believe, 4 songs in this session. It was done via Skype, with DL in Stockholm, and Cory and the Wong Notes, (the brass and woodwinds) were in Minnesota, US. The guys from DL do all of the production, arrangement, video editing, and over dubs for background vocals. The finished product is then sent to Quincy Jones, who is their manager. Impressive, huh! Like I said before, I'm 74, and it's been a while since I've found a group that MOVES me like these cats. I think the last time was a combination of "The Black Crows" , and "Simply Red". How's that for a combination? Mind you, I've been gettin down to music since I was 2 (according to my Mom). Back then it was to Early country, and The Big Bands, (my Mom's favorite) then it was the revolutionary stuff from the 60s and 70s. When Disco hit, I left the building! Same with Rap... I don't hate it; enormously talented people; it's just not my thing. I know... enough already... right? If you are looking for other stuff to react to, Pink Floyd, "Comfortably Numb" Pulse Concert, SRV, "Voodoo Child" at El Mocombo, Dire Straits, "Telegraph Road", or "Brothers In Arms"
This is such a good piece. As Gary Graham noted, it was knitted together from two continents and Aaron, the percussionist did the splicing. Just pure artistry.
Cory and DL collaborated on the EP Turbo. Half the songs are basically DL written featuring Cory and vice versa. Cory's music is almost always instrumental
phenomental. As you're a drummer, I think you should hear some Larnell Lewis if you haven't. Maybe Zildjian Live first, moving on to Snarky Puppy ua-cam.com/video/Jd1X5JWaGgQ/v-deo.html

Big question.......other than DL and CW.....what other bands/vids would you like me to review.??

This album has 7 songs.
@@bandietonbegrepen4673 , you're right, my bad. I was thinking of the videos that I've seen.

A great song inded, tha bass with effects was totally unspected.
I think the technical term is sixteenth note triplets!
Man you should check out the singer's own songs, would highly recommend Jonah Nilsson - Diamond Ring ft Steve vai. Such a MJ feel to it.
Cory and DL collaborated on the EP Turbo. Half the songs are basically DL written featuring Cory and vice versa. Cory's music is almost always instrumental
Cory is a Rhythm player.
CW influence is very subtle. He's playing harmonics in chorus, giving it a really expansive sound in contrast to the tight funk verses
Put the mouse down. There's no need for anyone to get hurt.
I just can't get enough of the band lol
Work shit out has a nice drum solo
I absolutely agree . These guys rock !!
phenomental.

Her name is Grace Felly. She a beast on the sax. Look her up! She was doing a STANK FACE. It is the highest compliment you can give a musician.
Her name is Grace *_KELLY_* www.youtube.com/@GraceKellyMusic _"Look her up!"_
