Here's an different question. What do you think about converting a sailing cat to power? something to give a 8 to 14 knot cruising speed. 10 knots is ideal.

Re:“You can easily save 20 to 30 thousand dollars”! Wow! I can't imagine spending 20-40 thousand on a catamaran, let alone saving that much. My bluewater catamaran that sleeps 6 people in 5 berths, and has sailed across the Atantic and sailed from Maryland to the Caribbean, cost me $8.5 thousand, and is ready to sail across the Pacific right now. Anyone watching this video and thinking OMG, I'll never be able to buy a catamaran, be warned, these catamarans he's talking about in this video are for the super-rich who want lots of luxury. Bear in mind that people have crossed oceans for centuries and currently live on much smaller boats throughout the world.

Mel Ellington could you link your website so we can see what an $8500 cat looks like?
I bought fiberglass and epoxy for a kayak and it costed me $500. Can't imagine a cat full hull + sails + decent engine for that price...

    Tip number 6
Don't buy a Cat designed for charter operations and expect it to perform as a cruising vessel for your dream trip. They are designed to motor or motor sail from anchorage to anchorage in short trips. They are poor performing and under powered. Talk to cruising people vrs charter boat sales agents.

I think what arumrunner is getting at is that the underlying platform is either designed for charter or cruising, but not both, so simply changing the layout can't transform a charter boat into a good cruiser. Or it won't be nearly as good as a boat designed as a cruiser. Converting a cruiser to a charter is either not a problem or much less of a problem, since charterers have less demanding requirements and only need to deal with any compromise(s) for a week or two (plus they aren't carrying the boat mortgage, so less at stake). Most production cat builders have the charter market in mind when designing their boats.

Nice tips thanks. Questions: Do you offer reports from boatsold.com for a particular boat like the 440? Are the prices on the web site reported from the broker or from say the bill of sale? Is the site just for brokers? Thank you

Hello Gary! How are you doing, during these trying times. I was in the market for a live abroad boat. How every I was looking for a board I could cruise around in and live in. I am inexperienced in sailing, but plan on taking a course in sailing prior to buying. The classes are in September 2020. I am 59 years of age and was really looking for sometime that could be operated by one person if need be. Is there a boat out there for me? Please email me back, I am more than willing to meet with you and handle any necessary paperwork that you would require.

Don't go more the 40 feet for solo unless everything is mechanized. Also please please email me yachtbrokerBK@gmail.com so I don't lose track of you. Gary doesn't have enough time to respond to the volume of comments we get, but I'll make sure you get taken care of. -Benjamin

well , number one mistake when people think they are getting away with cap size and accidents be buying a fat slow cat with a lot of room, so many seats and more beds then what they need.... look at accident , 99 time of one hundred they are sleepy or not attentive on there trusty slow motion nothing can happen Cat.... and Boom... use to teach and race hobby cat, also crew on the Stars & Stripes A.C, You tell me why they haven't figure that if you go fast from A to B and then seat on it and enjoy is less demanding physically & less time , more fun and yes need your attention but you will feel the waves feel the speed and feel happy . The major difference is you feel and play within the limit against what ever it's so slow you do not have to really pay attention any way that was a long long trip i.... like a bicycle if you go so slow you take chance of loosing balance and control of it , now if you go fast hey, you even drive with no hands , simple but Truth, conclusion, it is time to split the category cat as it should sail and floating condo ( yeah ! why ride a hors when you can ride a cow , it make perfect sense ... this just show that 80% of boat owners hardly live the marina and 20% are sailor that want to master the ocean and need the appropriate vessel ... Cat or Mono hull it as to be a boat , condo my A. it 's not a new idea they don't consider hydrodynamic or resistance of natural element, no we go with a rectangle condo, I don't go to the mountain, the mountain as to come to me. Bottom line, its dangerous because speed is necessary , there ego push the factory to give them what they want , knowing this is a bad reflex but Hey who am I if they pay more for that , now the factory price is drifting away from the cost of building to a matching price with real estate, yes they are so smart if they can justify that a floating condo is more then just a condo for the same money, they can only be right .. this reflex is 100 miles away from sailing and just try to make a point because I believe they put them self and passengers in danger , oh don't forget that they will crash slowly too so, it is Ok ... don't worry be happy and that's the end of me little comment
