Thank you Chris Hayes for conducting a respectful interview with a very respected author. Your colleague Jonathan Lemire could not show him the same respect yesterday. Tony Dokoupil on CBS Morning crossed the line into overt racism, while actually justifying apartheid & segregation. It's good to know some people still have ethics in this industry.
Tony really, really crossed the line!!!!
@SilverSprings1997 could not have said it better. Chris did it right.
John Stuart had a great interview with him about this book. Well worth watching.
I would not have believed what Dokoupil did until I saw it for myself --- entirely unjustifiable and abhorrent. Had I committed a similar lack of judgment in my own work, I would not keep my job.
Great segment. Wish MSNBC aired it in full!
I love & Respect you Chris for your truth and respect for ALL MAN KIND BLESS U BROTHER for having this Brilliant Black man on your show it was so enlightening I am forever grateful
Thank the Universe for brilliant people like Ta-Nehisi Coates. Keeps me very interested in the world in hopes of moving to a better future.
What a moral position Mr Coates has taken- his courage is admirable ❤
Great, great interview. Refreshing and inspiring, esp against CBS Mornings. Chris Hayes, you did a good job interviewing this wonderful American treasure, Mr. Coates.
Now this is how you conduct an interview...CBS Morning take notes!!!
This dude is BRILLIANT!!!!!
Then tell them that u can’t help the poor and no jobs for blacks. Corrupt politicians.
Thank you, Chris. Intelligent conversation, honest guest. Ari missed that today and gave a platform to dispicables.
I understand what you are saying about Ari’s show today, but I appreciate his demonstrating for us that the Trump-washed mind cannot be slowed or altered by even facts in their faces. His panel included a woman who is clearly rethinking her Trump allegiance, one man who knowingly and painfully tried to justify his position on Jan. 6 in light of some menagerie of presently held policy positions, and the completely incorrigible and indefatigable Peter Navarro.
I think MSNBC cannot surrender its news platform in the name of simply amplifying those voices agreeable to its audience - it would then be “entertainment news.” I, for one, would likely not hear these differently-opinioned” people otherwise.
Thank you for making this available on UA-cam. To be honest, I wasn't sure if MSNBC would post it here. This is an Incredibly important interview, and I hope people will watch and listen.
Thank you for this segment, I appreciate this kind of conversations. Plus I like Ta-Nehisi Coates.
No jobs for black folks. Tell them.
Clowns. Tell the truth.
@@NotRose-hf7krWhat do you mean?
Finally, real discourse in American media. Thank you.
People that say an issue is too complex to solve are people that do not want to solve the problem. They just want to find excuses not to solve a problem !
crazy the kind of clarity you can get if you just stick to the facts 👏🏼 Mr. Coates
What a difference in the quality of discussion between this and the garbage CBS ambush.
Bravo 👏🏻 well done, both of you.
Chris is the most intelligent of all on msmbc.
Absolutely admire this man…must get the new book!
This man is a world treasure!!! His writing is a banquet of language that is so beautiful and expressive that is has brought me to tears more than once, just from the sheer elegance of it. So excited to find and read this new book.
1 year after 10/07 and MSNBC finally allows journalists to honestly speak on this, even in such a limited capacity. Now that the conflict has snowballed, suitably, out of control.
A humanitarian is always a humanitarian, you can't pick and choose.
It's like refusing an apology because the apologizer didn't use the exact wording you wanted to hear, even if they screamed their apology in the public square while flogging themselves half-naked. He wrote what he wrote from his perspective. As a writer, he has a right to do so. Likewise, another writer has a right to do the same. What's fascinating to me is the attitude that he didn't have a right to express his experience. Chris Hayes got it right.
Thank you for uploading the whole interview!
I'm reading Joe Sacco's 'Palestine' book (highly recommend expecially for comic/graphic novel fans) but then will read this one
It was so good I watched it twice. 😁
Clarity, and the process of documenting it, is excruciating. What will I believe at the end of the day? Who will I be at day's end? What strength will I find in what remains?
Great interview! Can't wait to read it.
Bravo! Excellent discussion! Beautiful rapport!
loved this.
It's a great example of how the abused becomes the abuser. At one point, we have to break the cycle.
I think we all need to read this book.
Coates is gradually becoming Maya Angelo, Ernest Hemingway and James Baldwin rolled up into one 😊
Great comment, I agree. Thank YOU.

Thank you for pronouncing his name right!
more of this on our screens.

The book, Son of Hamas, magnifies the reality that Israel is an Apartheid state, as told from a young man who grew up as one of Israel’s person of scrutiny. As a grown man he worked as a double agent for the israeli’s to stop mass murders.
saw the interview with CPC morning buy the book
I think he meant Human Rights Watch, rather than Human Rights Campaign
Chris Hayes, please give your guests more time to answer questions and do less setup
When it comes to the value and craft of writing, let's listen briefly to then read Ta-Nehisi Coates and not the pitches of Sam Altman about ChatGPT's purported intelligence.
One race. Human race.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I miss Chris’s morning show. He’s so boring now. He he so sides to power. Sadly. 😢 other than this interview - wish it was longer
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
imagine condescending to such a decorated writer
I wonder if 'ceasefyre' will become a bannned word on BlueTube
Israel has bomb shelters. Palestine has tunnels. 😢
Israel is an Apartheid state 😂
I think you meant, Israel is the colonizer and Palestinians are the natives
@@somerandomguy23 No, I’m sure that’s not what he meant. For a year now, Israel has been bombarded with bombs which means they’re going to bomb shelters almost every day so maybe they should just stop sending bombs and then there would be no return bombs sent.
right up there with hayes fawning over sarandon
Arrogance on full display.
Oh wow, this guy again
My son declared himself as black like Kamala and changes his accent based on where he is
Is your son a bot too?
David, careful, your gross ignorance is showing. MVP Kamala Harris had no part in determining her race. It was pre-determined for her by White people. Study the full history of the USA including the so-called, "one drop rule", if you want to understand our future POTUS's racial identity.

It’s important to interview everyone and hear everyone’s side. However, this does not mean they are right.
Unfortunately, those of us who do not live in the middle in an isolated country from surrounding neighbors who wish for your destruction, there will be some sort of pessimism towards those people in those surrounding countries.
For the record, Lebanon has treated Palestinians poorly. Why are they not called an apartheid state.
Oh darling, go and learn some history... If you haven't heard by now, the "chosen ones" arrived from Europe y America claiming that God gave them that land, so they stared their etching cleansing of Palestinians, libanese, Egyptians, Syrians and even Jordan! Needles to say, the European jews (the original jews lived side by side with Christian and Muslims) weren't fully successful with zionist colonial movement in etching cleansing everyone at once, nor stealing their land. Before the zionist colonized the area, you could find things written in Hebrew and Arabic, and no one was discriminate depends on their religion.
So, why don't you talk about the desire of Israel to etching cleansing of arabs in the region??
Whataboutism much? As Coates says, USA has a special relationship with Israel. They are profess to be the only democracy in the Middle East. How can it truly be a democracy when they treat certain groups as second class citizens?
😂😂😂even Obama’s brother Malik is endorsing Trump !😂😂😂
So you and Malik love rapists. That makes YOU weird
Black dudes for Trump 🎉
More like Black Dudes with CTE for Trump. 😂😂😂
Good luck with that one: maybe he'll give you a "Black Job," what ever that describes.

No more apartheid state... bless the Palestinians ❤
God protect 🇮🇱,
So what are you saying? What would you do if you were faced with living somewhere with people who will always hate?
You should read Barry Obama's book Scheme's of My Father it's a book about the father he didn't know, the father who didn't want to know him
What did he write books about race bating and antisemitism
