Could kithitu be a kamba version of the ark of the covenant with it's devastating military consequences?
No, kithitu is a justice system within the society accessible to everyone who need it. The ark of the covenant according to my understanding is a vested object which symbolises/carries power; whoever posses it has the authority to rule over others. Kithitu is not about power, conquest and rulership. It is about ensuring there is justice in the society, and anyone who seeks justice can access the power of kithitu by invoking it or striking it. The ark of the covenant is equivalent to the Ghanian golden stool, or the British Royal Crown; vested with power.
Few chosen people in the society have the knowledge to prepare the kithitu although no one really know how it works. Like Kithitu, nobody really knows how the ark of the convenant works. So it is possible both technologies are not from this our world...possibly from out there in the space, who knows!
About military prowess, the Akamba army was known for it's skill and success throughout East Africa, and they didn't use kithitu for their success; no relationship between kithitu and war. The Akamba had a rigorous thorough military training and skill and well organized which gave them a lot of success in war. I think if Kamba army and Maasai army were fully united with Mau Mau, the consequences on the British would have been devastating, as you name it. But the divide and rule tactics of the colonizer and the missionary were strong and at play. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

It was the most feared group of people especially for those people who went against the Akamba's code of conduct... We can actually compare them with the modern police men. They were law-enforcers. If anyone had murdered another , raped a young girl or performed lethal witchcraft they would arrest the victim take them to a rocky valley or hill and stone the person to death.

The woman-to-woman marriage was not lesbianism/homosexuality. It was there to ensure the continuation of a family line if a woman was barren or unable to produce a male heir. The wife married another woman so that this woman can give birth to children for the husband.
