The painting by Richard Dadd, who was in an institution for killing his father. It took him 9 years to complete the painting. Freddie was so creative with his music!
deac's mostly gets overlooked and it's criminal, but my real pet hate is when people say "freddie mercury and Queen" 🤬 as if john, roger and brian were his backing band 🙄 history has shown us that they all had moderate success with solo stuff but together they were unstopable and each needed the other as much to be the worlds best band and without doubt THE best ever live band 👑✊🇬🇧
As a bass player myself, John was one of the first influences on me. I may not have mentioned him in this reaction but to say I never mention him is not accurate, but I get it, haha. Do any of us get the credit we are due. Thanks for hanging out Tony, enjoy the channel, Todd.
I hope I didn't say that in this video. I couldn't tell you who my favorite Queen member is, as you say here correctly, together they were unstoppable. I think I love them all equally for they all have so much I like. Thank for the great comment John.
@@MusicWithToddLedbetter thank you for the reply todd, i enjoy your reactions, and no, you did'nt say 'freddie mercury and Queen' 🤣 it just annoys me when i see people commenting and and also spelling our dear freddies name with a Y, they were a great live band and i was lucky enough to see them twice in scotland, the best nights of my life! 👑✊🇬🇧
This gem is part of a series of songs Freddie wrote on the first few albums characterized by fantasy lyrics, acyclical structure, classical musical motifs and frequent use of harmonies. It's too bad bad that by the '80s rolled around Freddie stopped writing songs like these, but that was Freddie-- He was always moving in new musical directions
: Queen fans settle into two groups for the most part. : Queen I : Queen II : Shear Heart Attack : Night At The Opera : A Day At The Races : News Of The World : Jazz
This is the original and best version. They remastered this in 2011 and made a car-crash out of it Really cannot be understood or properly assessed without seeing the painting and reading the lyrics
Masterfully penned by Freddie after a painting he admired by Richard Dadd, who was incarcerated in a criminal asylum for murdering his father! 😳 The intricate details of each character are incredible. The lyric “nymph in yellow what a quere fellow” reminds me of Freddie!! Yellow is his favorite color! 🤭💛💛
My favorite album is Sheer Heart Attack. It was the first one I bought that wasn’t a greatest hits or single. You really should listen to it in full. Some of the tracks blend together and there’s a reprise which is better than the original. Plus the very first speed metal song that Metallica covered very well but bit as fun as the original.
Well it looks as though I mis remembered the sequence of events, slightly misguided by the Queen movie Bohemian Rhapsody released in 2018. Freddy is a true legend. Thank for hanging out. Enjoy the channel Diane, Todd
Basically you’re familiar with the worst of Queen, the ‘invisible man’ stage, one of the worst songs in music history. They were at their best until A Day At The Races, then they were okay and then Innuendo was good again.
Song about a famous painting Freddie found intriguing ✌🏼 No end to Freddie’s imagination and talent 😂♥️

Richard dadd went insane did he not?
I'm amazed that you never mentioned the bass playing in this song. It's fabulous.
Poor old John. Never gets the credit he is due

@@johngraham5996 That's so cool, I wish I would have seen them live.
Their first 6 album's were fantastic their best work
first 5 albums and last 2 are the best
I always loved this song, so much so that I bought a print of the painting this song is based on.
My favourite Queen song.
Queen II and Queen sheer heart attack you have to listen to the whole albums . Incredible. They were concept albums
Thanks for a great, genuine reaction. There’s no one like Queen! I’ve loved them for 49 years.
The best song in the world
Queen 2 more than any other album plays like Side Black is one song and Side White is another song. The flow from one song to the next is seamless.

Yes watch the video that shows the painting during song.
Play those first albums two or three times and they will hook you in.
The song is a commentary on the Richard Dadd painting ofbthe same name.
You need to know about the painting to appreciate this song. 🌰
T.F.F. Master Stroke is a master piece!!
To really experience Queen II album you must listen both sides in full, without a pause.
I will do that, thanks.

Freddie wrote this because of a painting he liked

More early Queen please

This song is a description of a painting of the same name.
The main keyboard in the song is a harpsichord.

That's my favourite album of theirs too. Leroy Brown is great!
Freddie didn’t “ join Queen” 😊

He did join 'Smile' and change it into Queen.
Listen to the full transition to”Nevermore”. It is magical!!!
