Ommggg this voice 0:27 🥵🥵😍it’s amazing how Freddie’s voice changed trough the years, it became “rougher ” with the cig and of course ‘cause he grow up. His voice in the late years was very very powerful, but even in the early stages like here in 74, he already had a beautiful, angelic voice, very « young » voice. He was a genius and a true artist, I think that even people who are not queen stan can admit it. 🤩🤩
I just learned that this was overdubbed, pitch correction, etc. Its not real. Like 88 percent of Queen concerts are overdubbed. And ESPECIALLY this one.but I am still a HUGE fan 😊

Sciadi abby dreher yeah I also learnt afterwards that this gig is hugely overdubbed. There’s a video on UA-cam which compares the original vs the overdubbed version ! It’s a shame that most of Queen live albums are like that because without anything Freddie’s voice is amazing. That’s why I usually listen to their live performances via bootlegs on gregsynthbootlegs channel for exemple the quality is often not very good but nothing is corrected and not any part of the show is cropped !!

I really love the version on the album better, with Brian singing the lead and Roger's soaring falsettos that he was pretty much never able to reproduce live, since he started to lose his range not long after.
@@anij8226Yeah, Roger does do the falsetto part perfectly at Hyde park and 77 Detroit, but after that he isn’t really able to hold it all the way through though he does still sound beautiful
A magical, fantastical, extraordinary, literally out-of-this-world Mercury song. One of Queen's most extraordinary creations. The original was brilliant but it shows Freddie's incredible vocal prowess to be able to sing a song like this so brilliantly live. Thanks so much for posting this video it's amazing to see this live performance of this Queen song I've loved for decades.

Very hard to sing live, for Mercury and above all for taylor at the peak of its counter tenor effort (and playing drums at the same time). The ogre battle/master stroke/nevermore combo is one of my fav rock moment ever. Incredible artisits!
Roger was asked about this and he said he didn't find it particularly difficult to sing and play drums, even when singing harmonies and such. He said he gets asked about that a lot and he just never found it the least bit difficult. I think that speaks volumes about hiss musical talents.
What I love about this particular performance is that you just get the three voices harmonising together without any double/triple tracking which they did on their albums. They sound so great with just Roger on the higher line, Freddie middle and Brian on the lower. I’m a particular fan of unedited harmonising voices which is why I love the Beatles and especially the Eagles. I heard this for the first time and got such chills, brought a huge smile to my face. Piece of history to this astonishing fairy track by Mercury: 1974 was also the year The Tate Gallery London held an exhibition of the works of the infamous mid-Victorian painter Richard Dadd who ended up in Bedlam Hospital after having stabbed his father to death, believing he was the devil incarnate. The very talented and promising Royal Academy trained young artist had lost it when returning home to England from a tour of the Holy Land and Egypt in the role of recording artist to an English nobleman. Schizophrenia or polar disorder are what might describe his madness today. After ten years in Bedlam he was transfered to Broadmoore Hospital for the criminally insane, where he was allowed and even encouraged by one empathetic and progressive doctor that he should return to practicing his art. The Fairy Feller‘s Master Stroke in oil, work process spanning over 10 years, was - mad - Dadd‘s chef d‘Oeuvre in Broadmoore and which today is owned by The Tate Gallery. For the first time also the exhibition catalogue cited and published a recovered poem from the Broadmoore archives written by Dadd himself and most probably intended as a narrative to the picture‘s flight of fancy on the fairy theme. Freddie Bulsara, or Mercury, in 1974 may very well have been already familiar with the picture from previous visits to The Tate. But it certainly was the catalogue entry ( by Patricia Alldridge, cat. ed.) with the words from Dadd that lyrically structured and actually dictated the re-telling of The Fairy Feller‘s Master Stroke on Queen ii, the band’s one Pre-Raphaelite album, if ever there was one. Wow incredible, it's so strange to see him perform such an amazingly complex song live, singing all these great high notes like that, something I wouldn't have expected considering he gets pretty tired sometimes. Fantastic!
OMGOSH! !! I played there in a band a few years ago! !! Had no idea Queen was ever there!!!! That was such an odd song, but one of my favorites always! I'm stunned by this performance! !!!!
Very awesome. Nothing like early Queen. I remember first buying Queen II in the military on vinyl and getting it REAL cheap (maybe 3 dollars) having never heard it before. Musicianship at its finest. They were obviously at their peak music wise and I HIGHLY recommend any casual fan to pony up and buy Queen II as it is above the cut in SO many ways with harmonizing and every band member brings so much to the table with each and every track. Just a masterpiece.
Wonderful stuff! I remember feeling overwhelmed when I first saw Richard Dadd's painting, so much going on, and a feeling of how Freddie felt as he gazed upon it...almost a feeling of Freddie was there sharing the same time and place....it was at the Tate Liverpool at the time....
I think that version is even better than the album version! Thank you for posting! It is the only live version I have ever heard of this amazing song..
It was played 3 times during the Queen II tour. March 1st (The opening concert for the tour) in Blackpool, March 8th (Queen II's Release Day) in Sunderland, and March 31st in London.
i LOVE how they were able to transform the classic music they heard and learned into something even MORE transformative!!!...all without crossing ANY copyrights!!
Damn. It's rare to see Freddie so perfectly pulling out full-on falsetto singing as it's quite difficult to pull off when you've been singing constantly on tour, but he really did that one phrase at the beginning perfect. And that bit at 1:46 is insane.
Fantastic!!! Has anyone ever heard a complete live version of "The March of The Black Queen"? If so , please share it. It is my all time favourite ever! Tks in advance.
😂🤣😂🤣it's not live. The video is from November 1974 Rainbow. They didn't sing that song there. In any case, this song is not in any of the videos from this concert. At the previous concert (March 1974 Rainbow), this song is also missing. I didn't find any live video. Neither this song nor Nevermore. All I found was the audio record. I love these songs
An entire subcategory of metal arose in the neoclassical genre. The Who were the first to do a rock opera (Tommy); which was a collection of rock songs telling a coherent story. But Queen stands alone in a perfect blend of rock and traditional opera. Nobody did it better. There will never be another group like them.
I'm a huge fan and have worn out a couple of vinyl copies of Queen II. My take on this video: The boys had a go at the song live, took the tapes back to the studio, and augmented it with extra bits. I hear a LOT of background vocals and harmonies and guitar parts that were not done live. Still, I don't blame them one bit. This was evidently an early period where they were desperately trying to do live what they had done with 32 or 64 tracks in the studio--an impossibility. They got over that soon enough, and became a volatile live act in their own right by re-working complex studio material for the stage. In later tours they never used tracks (save for the middle section of "Bohemian Rhapsody") and re-arranged everything to a stripped down raw version for their stage show, essentially becoming two bands, one studio, one stage, both brilliant.
I was too young to go to see shows at this point. LOVED the video I've seen of this concert. That was the Freddie that got me. Queen II is the best Queen LP.
It’s hard to believe this song is about a painting. A painting by Richard Dadd. 1855

Thank you Queen for writing this song for us!
This is the sequel to My Fairy King.
Queen 2 is their 2nd best album behind Sheer...
Wow incredible, it's so strange to see him perform such an amazingly complex song live, singing all these great high notes like that, something I wouldn't have expected considering he gets pretty tired sometimes. Fantastic!
Эта композиция завораживает ! Невероятно красиво Thanks a lot Freddie, Queen
1:46 Freddie with pitch correction: 🤖🎤
This is supernatural, extreme fantastic good!
MAGNIFECENT!!!
OMGOSH! !! I played there in a band a few years ago! !! Had no idea Queen was ever there!!!! That was such an odd song, but one of my favorites always! I'm stunned by this performance! !!!!
ah darling, what song do they have were not oddly fabolous?
This is definitely Queen at there best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Los AMO!! excelente versión, Que hermosa Voz Juvenil!!
Los primeros albunes de los 70's los mejores. Sublime 🌹💞
Real Queen fan
Absolute GENIUS ❤
.. the way she plays the piano is absolutely fantastic
FREDDIE ❤
Я еще не родилась тогда) но считаю этот концерт и эту эпоху лучшей в их творчестве
This is one of the most complicated and amazing fascinating song of queen
What gets me is they give a great performance and go into another one like no big deal. Love love ❤️ them !
IKR
Jaw droppingly brilliant
I think that version is even better than the album version! Thank you for posting! It is the only live version I have ever heard of this amazing song..
pigglescreep because it is the only live performance of this song www.setlist.fm/stats/queen-43d6e37f.html
It was played 3 times during the Queen II tour. March 1st (The opening concert for the tour) in Blackpool, March 8th (Queen II's Release Day) in Sunderland, and March 31st in London.
@@ryannewton1202 Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to see if you have those gigs posted right now.
@@ryannewton1202 HELLO THERE
This is the title of a fairy panting by mad artist Richard Dadd, who was confined to a mental hospital and painted paintings as part of his recovery.
very Freddie indeed. if not been a singer, i would imagined he would be a designer or a painter
Not much of a stretch seeing as everyone knows he has a diploma in Art and Graphic Design
This is not only the title but the song describes the painting in details
Most QUEEN fans already know this, thank you.
No, he murdered him with a knife.
First 2 albums exquisite!! Brian May phenomenal!!
i LOVE how they were able to transform the classic music they heard and learned into something even MORE transformative!!!...all without crossing ANY copyrights!!
it amazes me that they did this live holy hell they have to be like the most talented group of people ever
Essa música é uma obra prima, amo!
Brasil!!
O álbum Queen II do Queen na minha opinião é a obra-prima da banda ♥
Damn. It's rare to see Freddie so perfectly pulling out full-on falsetto singing as it's quite difficult to pull off when you've been singing constantly on tour, but he really did that one phrase at the beginning perfect. And that bit at 1:46 is insane.
i'm sorry, this was autotuned by Queen Productions
@@BobHarley Their corrections are pretty subtle, it doesn't take away from Freddie's performance.
Bob Harley Do u know if they did overdubbing tho?
@@TheaterPup It's not subtle at all, his voice sounds very unnatural.
@@MushroomVortex 1992 VHS release was heavily overdubbed, this one is just autotuned, I think
Thanks for posting this, Queen brilliance....
My favorite Queen song, astounding that they could do this live. Wow.
Such an underrated song! This is one of my all-time favorite Queen songs. The painting by Richard Dadd that inspired it is incredible too.
Fantastici queen anni 70
Giovani ,
Belli freddie divino
Stupendo ,bellissimo
Voce angelica💖💖👑👑
Re delle regine 😊☺😉
Ohhh genial... Nunca había visto un registro de esta canción en vivo, Grande Queen!!!!!
That piano!!! My God!!!! Beautiful!!!
yes this is queen!!!
Fantastic!!! Has anyone ever heard a complete live version of "The March of The Black Queen"? If so , please share it. It is my all time favourite ever! Tks in advance.
I dont think they ever performed full song
En una lista de las presentaciones en vivo que más me han impresionado, esta estaría de más primeras
The power of that live version..🙏👸🏻
Exceptionnels Queen !
They pull off a masterpiece live. Thats crazy such am intriquite piece of music.
Stunning, just stunning...! Goosebumps! Love it!
Thank You God for putting these 4 genius guys together
An entire subcategory of metal arose in the neoclassical genre. The Who were the first to do a rock opera (Tommy); which was a collection of rock songs telling a coherent story. But Queen stands alone in a perfect blend of rock and traditional opera. Nobody did it better.
There will never be another group like them.
I love the vocals for this song from this live version
Painting is a treat to see..
Song is a treat to hear..watching painting at same time
I'm a huge fan and have worn out a couple of vinyl copies of Queen II.
Queen II is the best Queen LP.
wow!!!! high quality!!!!!! its a masterpiece
I could listen this song over and over.
This is so amazingly awesome.
