On my Honda, I had to use an impact driver to get my OEM bar ends off. Once they broke free, they unscrewed easily, but man were they tight. I cut off both my original grips, because I didn’t have any patience. A quick slice with a box cutter and they came right off! I used hairspray as lubricant and glue to put my new grips on. So many different methods to go about it, but the end result is that aftermarket grips are A LOT better than OEM grips! New grips looks awesome on Mrs. Benny’s R3! You guys are awesome! Keep up the great videos!
I just uncovered my bike while pulling it out of storage from winter and damn mice chewed my stock grips off my 2020. Needless to say this video will be handy as a reference.
Nice! Glad to see you got the grips on the R3, can't wait to see you do the exhaust on the ZX6R :D Were you looking at doing an ECU flash on your bike at all?
Thanks! I did the motovlogging thing in the beginning but It didn't seem to gain any traction. Seems only thing people want to see are "How to" videos.
Had the same problem installing bar ends on my 2022 Anniversary R 3. They just spin without vice grips. We used to use hairspray to install grips on our bikes. Is alcohol better? Also, gorgeous black and green R3!
First off thanks! Second, I like alcohol because it evaporates. Making it easier for future removal. I'm sure hairspray works ok too. As long as you soak the parts.
@@Bennyrogue not the bar ends but there are metal pipes within the housing which I think you didn’t remove. The bar ends for my new grips don’t have any weights hence vibs.
You seem very experienced with "gently work that straw up in there and giving a little squirt"... LOL... Sadly riding season is closing fast for us 4 season states :(

Lmao. "OH my Honda" Yes! They were a pain to get off for sure! And for how cheap some are, I can customize every month if I wanted to lol.
Looking good... Btw I'm the guy you met at Lowes today
Hey! Welcome to the channel!
@@Bennyrogue Thanks I'm gonna like what you do that's for sure man
Looks great!
Thank you! 🙏

Oh wow! Those rodents are terrible! Hope the video helps 🙏

Did you remove the pipe weights? My mechanic removed them during grip mods and now I feel some vibes
You mean the bar ends? I did remove the old bar ends and replaced them with the new ones. I don't notice any vibrating 😬

@@PetroHead765 I'm not too sure then. Lol
why is the Yamaha green? 😩
It's black too 😏

😅 of course! Yeah, not much time left I'm afraid.
Do the new ones have a line on it so you can know where to adjust for throttle freeplay if needed or no?
Good question. No, these cheap ones don't anyways. I played it by ear. Then double checked the next day and I did have to adjust it a little.
always cut toward your friend not yourself lol
😆 I'll remember that next time.
Use hand sanitizer instead of rubbing alcohol.
Interesting. What would be the difference? The hand sanitizer takes longer to dry?
@@Bennyrogue Yeah, the gel type is like a lube, and lasts longer before it dries out. I've also heard that hair spray works the same.
@@deedle6073 I will definitely have to try that next time I swap out the grips. 👊
