  • Today I take a log in my backyard and mill it into usable lumber. I also build my own pull up / dip station.

The wood came out beautifully. So amazing to see a tree being cut into usable wood. The exercise equipment is so cool.
Will you guys be using these trees to make wood for sale? You could ask your local pallet supplier if they can heat treat the wood for you. You and Sallie make awesome work.

That's an awesome idea. As I have time I'd definitely like to make more of this wood. It turned out great. We do have a pallet supplier nearby I'll check with.

    Hi Jon nice project 👍
One years wood on air is still pretty wet, I am amazed that it worked with the chainsaw so well. Even when you cut it in half and store it under a roof, it still takes long to dry for machining.
When I come to work out with you I think we need a lot of screws 😂
I am 6'5.95 tall (198cm) and 242 pounds (110kg), when dipping at the side, it will fall over, too much weight 🤣

It was pretty wet. It's been in the 90s here and it's still straight with no warping hopefully it will stay that way! I get my chainsaws sharp. Everyone that sees them in person always ask me where I take them. I say to my vise! We will need lots of screws bwahahaha also you'd be surprised I wore a 70 lb bag and did dips yesterday that put me around 240 and it worked great!

Didn't they! I was amazed at how great they look. I have literally hundreds of these logs in my backyard. This 1 log made 16 2x4's. 😮

Look up Granberg Alaskan Chainsaw mill. They have different models depending on your saw length as well as rails for the different lengths you'd want to cut.

Do have a ripping chain on your saw?

I think I said in the video, I cant remember now but i'm thinking I used a full house chain square tooth. I know it wasn't a ripping chain because I don't own one. It would probably have went a little smoother if I did though.

@@reallifetested2605 Love the Carolinas! I have a lot of Coast Guard friends who have retired in Southern Virginia and the Carolinas. I thought, after 32 years in the Coast Guard, that I might end up in that area but ended up in Texas instead...not as beautiful as your area but it has a great economy and the politics fit my way of life.
