Nice waves for sure....but l think Pismo beach during storm of 1994 was good enough for me.
That first surfer......lol OMG he MADE IT....at least the hopeful camera person stayed on it, even if we couldn't see the best bit of him being spat out. Somehow still satisfying to see him just pop up cruising at the end.
Let's just face it. Teahupoo is one scary, heavy, nasty drop, beast! Everybody hits the reef there. Everybody gets hurt there. You couldn't pay me to slide into that thing. When it's small it's a beautiful little devil, but when it's big....It gives me chills and i'm not even looking at it face to face. I can only imagine the energy out there. You guys are nutts and warriors! Your balls are a lot bigger than mine!

They are scared. You can see it in their eyes. There’s no doubt that this wave has jacked up so many good surfers. It is more dangerous than pipe. I don’t care what anybody says. That Code Red swell was stupid and if you paddled out during that swell, you have massive balls or you’re just completely dumb- maybe both. I think the only other wave that scares me more than Teahupoo is Nazare and it’s not because of a reef. Only because the volume of water and size. Teahupoo has an extremely deadly reef and huge volume of water to splatter your brains right on it. Secretly even the best pipe surfers, CT guys, Maverick guys, Jaw’s guys, etc….Fear this wave and have nightmares about that CODE RED swell they may find themselves in one day. You could see them looking at each other because they knew deep inside this wave is not to be F#%*ed with and that one of them may never make it out alive. 😉

Such an amazing place. I was fortunate enough to be there a few years ago when some monster waves hit and I watched from a boat just to the side. Such an amazing day to watch these guys fearlessly charge into some seriously heavy barrels.
