Hey guys! I’m liking this whole tutorial thing, should I do a part 2? Leave comments/questions below if there’s more you’d like answered about art or webcomics! 👇👇
Make a video for first time users pleaseeeee!!! I have been worh procreate and today i decided to go for CSP for making webtoons. Gosh its overwhelming. :o
We put SO MUCH efforts into Drawing a SINGLE page & readers only look at it once (mainly at the dialogues) & never checks it again Some sometimes even complain to lengthen the chapters As an artist, this Hurts!
I admire the art. As someone who is still learning, I like to look deeply into the details, how you drew the hair, the eyes, the lips ect. I also estimate how much work and effort it took to draw the page. I'm greatful to people like you take their time for the readers to enjoy
Dunno if this would make u feel better but I'm sure some readers do spend a considerable amount of time admiring the art ! If I want to just read the dialogue I would better read books ,but I love webcomics and manga for a reason and that is the art ❤️
depending on stories, there are fans who do read a chapter multiple times. And honestly, why read a manga/ webcomic if you're only after lines? Appreciate the art, people!!!
What the hell!! This video deserves way may views, you've basically covered all the major inquiries when it came to webcomics, lineart and colouring. Truly amazing video plz keep up your amazing work!
I've watch the entire video with my mouth widly open, not only because you show to us yet another reason why CSP is a godlike program (and I should stop postponing switching to it) but also because your art style is absolutely gorgeous! I'm so happy I've went across your video!
Couple things I didn’t hear you go over that maybe you could do in another tutorial since I’m already in love with the way you explain things is 1. How did you get multiple pages for the comic all lined up like that? When I click it it gives me only one how do I add more pages. 2. I really wanna learn exaclty how you filled in your lineart and made it so you don’t color out of the lines?
Thank you! I think those are great suggestions, and honestly they were things I thought about going into a little deeper in this video but I was afraid I'd make things overcomplicated LOL!
Words can't describe how helpful this was - I'm still so new to clip studio and watching this helped me get the basics so easy, and I love how to the point and simple this video was to understand. As someone who's been watching an entire playlist of videos on how to make comics with clip studio, this was definitely one of the best. Thank you!!
Im the kind of reader who takes a second to see their art and what techniques they use, it’s how I practice art sort of And then I think about their process and then I forget to read the comic 😭
I have had Clip Studio for like 5+ years and this is all new to me. Wtf have I been doing this whole time. Thank you so very much for making this video. You're a saint!!!!!
Really great tutorial! Also fun note with the turning layer blue, I recently learned by accident that Ctrl+B will activate that on whatever layer you're currently on XD
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’m starting out on the iPad and your tutorial was the most concise and exactly what I want to do with my own comic♥️♥️
Oh boy, I got recommended this video and I can't tell you how much It helped me. I'm starting a comic and I really didn't know where to start Your video is basically a blessing Thanks!
Extremely helpful! Thank you so much! I was wondering, how do you keep your faces consistent for each character with this style? I find that the anime eyes are easier to keep consistent because the shapes are really distinct. But when I'm drawing almond-shaped, more human-like eyes, even if I'm drawing the same character next to each other, it's difficult for me to just draw the same face on it. So even when I'm drawing my character with the same hair, same accessories and clothes, each iteration isn't matching.
I still have trouble keeping consistency myself LOL! I recommend creating model sheets for your characters to refer back to. And of course (I'm sure you've heard this before), practice makes perfect!
HOLY MOLY! This is one of the best tutorials I have seen on Clip Studio Paint (and I have watched a TON!) Excellent video! You answered so many awesome questions! Thank you so much for this! OH! and I am absolutely IN LOVE with your art style! It's so beautiful!!!
omg ty ;-; I always knew that the lines are a bit like borders, but I never knew why they existed and that they could help a lot for making panels. 4 minutes into the video and I already knew I had to save it to my playlist You’re a lifesaver!! Keep up the good work!
Just FYI, but you can have multiple items marked with the lighthouse at once. You just have to hold CTRL and select multiple layers before clicking on the lighthouse tool.
Hey just a quick question. Around 10:40 you mention you can use a selection, but the in the video it only shows after something is selected. How is it you manage to select all those fine lines and the space within them? I have seen the selection brush, and the magic wand, but neither really work all that quickly at selecting. And another thing that wasn't explained as well when going over the masking technique is, you started with the skin tones, and added detail to those, but then we see the hair, which is also being gone over in the same time you're doing skin, won't these two cross over? Sorry, still getting used to Clip Studio
This was amazingly helpful, thanks so much!!! I really love the way you explained everything and gave directions and your own example. I know this was a year ago, but please do make more!!
This is sooooooooo amazing! I use clip studio paint as well and I didn't even know that some of these features existed! This is going to make making a webcomic so much easier . . .
I appreciate you taking the time to create this video and outline the steps and tools you used to create your comic. I found it super helpful and easy to follow. I look forward to more videos of your creative process in the future.
Do you have any coloring tutorials? It's the legit bane of my existence. Your finished product looks so good and I can't figure it out lol.. It's such a pain. I always end up with something thst looks like it was just auto-filled on MS Paint
Well, I don’t know if this is worth anything, but I usually use the Magic Wand Tool. You select the areas you want to colour, go to the ‘Fill’ icon in the little toolbar that magically pops up once you select something, and click it. Voila! You have a perfectly coloured area! For shading, I usually use the colour wheel thingy to get a darker shade of the flat colour I used, then either use the Lasso Tool or Marker and colour in the area I want to shade. Then I lower the opacity of the layer and I have my shading. Hope this helps!
I recommend using the colorize demo, which will get your base coloring, and then fix it up and maybe merge it with another layer so nothing below can pass through it :)
I love your video so much, that I repeated it around 3 times, never bored! Also very helpful tips; my favourite is about the time you should spend on closer characters vs far away characters, you need speed and consistent quality, and also usage of objects from CSP!
I'm super late but-- Awesome video! There are several elements of CSP's functions that I find hard to master, including the use of 3d assets. This video makes it a lot easier to understand them. Thanks :)
Thank you! Thank you! This video really helped me because I was really wondering how to make the dialogue bubbles. If you did a part 2, I'd love it if you went deeper into the dialogue bubbles because I can't find anything out there that explains it. I'd like to know The different kinds of dialogue bubbles, when should each be used, and how do you make sure you have enough room for your dialogue.
I know this is a slightly old video, but is it worth having all the extra folders/layers for each individual panel? I can see how it can be handy in some cases, but I feel like the layout is going to get pretty cluttered pretty fast if you've got a decent number of panels on a page. With my workflow, I have 1 layer for color flats, a layer for additional things like blushes, decals, etc usually, 1-2 layers for shadows, 1 layer for highlights, and then 2 layers for ink (one for the main boundary inks and one for things I don't want to get in the way of my tool referencing such as hair strands, pools of black, or crosshatching). And that's not even including backgrounds. I feel like that's gonna bloat the document size when you get to 5-6 panels on a page.
Mariana Carina Thank you so much! I don’t have a webcomic up just yet, but I’m still in the really early stages of this one I’m co-authoring! Hoping I can make some kind of announcement when it happens :) Good luck on taking that first step!!
Thank you not only for this video, but for also explaining what those lines on the draft meant in the simplest way possible. Spent half my life wondering what the heck those were for 💀
I love your art style so muchhh! 💕💕💕 I’ve been making webtoons since 2016, but it’s always nice to see diffrent ways of artists working on their comic xD
Congratulations on your placement from Clip Studio Tips! I really enjoyed your video and learned a few tricks about making comics as well (I'm so out of practice). Thanks for making these. Subscribed!
If you ever have time can you do a more detailed video about how to block out the colors for different icons to use how the folders work oh my goodness I’m just probably gonna watch this video over and over and over it all seems so overwhelming thank you for all the tips
PLEASE ...make a detailed tutorial on this ... and point to the tools and where to find them ... we will really appreciate it and your drawing is amazing ... please make another LONG and full details
Please do a part 2. Also I tried making a comic and I been a artist for 7 years now but my skills aren't up to par with my story of my comic so I plan to start a new one. I been wondering if I should buy clip studio paint or paint studio ex because I wanna use the 3d assets but ex is really expensive so I just wanted to know if I can just buy clip studio paint and use the 3d part of it or do I need the ex version.
The 3D assets are available to both versions! Here's a feature comparison to help you decide: www.clipstudio.net/en/functions#func_03 You can also always get PRO and upgrade to EX later when there's a sale

Ikr. i am not an artist but i do appreciate the artist his/her artworks, this is so time consuming!!!
A trick I used when coloring to get rid of artifacts is to have a black layer under the color flat layer.
I use a color like red or pink instead of black
I can't belive I haven't tought about it earlier. Thank you!
What the hell!! This video deserves way may views, you've basically covered all the major inquiries when it came to webcomics, lineart and colouring. Truly amazing video plz keep up your amazing work!
Celestial Melodies Thanks so much!! I wish I had someone give me advice like this before I got started, so I hope this has been helpful!
Yes, has its helped me tremendously in my digital endeavors. Thanks again😭

@@jakehercydraws1036 You could have replied him :c are these things gonna be explained on part 2?
You can only have multiple pages if you have CSP Expert :/
@Senji maybe they plan to explain it in another video.
It's a technique called clipmasking, look it up
Words can't describe how helpful this was - I'm still so new to clip studio and watching this helped me get the basics so easy, and I love how to the point and simple this video was to understand. This is the first video which actually made me understand clip studio. You just earned yourself a new sub! UwU

Definitely do a part 2! I've considered making a webcomic but didn't really know where or how best to start. This video is great for people like me!
Thanks so much, really helpful! I'm looking to start my own web comic. Thanks for everything!
Just FYI, but you can have multiple items marked with the lighthouse at once. You just have to hold CTRL and select multiple layers before clicking on the lighthouse tool.
Thanks - this will help me a lot, and thank you for showing EXACTLY what to click on, and giving us viewers time to see it, so we can learn! 😃
Love this!! It convinced me to seriously consider switching to clip studio for my webcomic. YOU'RE AWESOME!
Question: in 4:54 whats that tool that looks like squares where you fix the drawing?
Hey just a quick question. Around 10:40 you mention you can use a selection, but the in the video it only shows after something is selected. Cool video. Unfortunately, the LT Conversion of Layer is only avaliable for the EX version. =/
Great concise and informative take on what things in clip studio manga means! Thank you so much! I've been looking for one of these!

Thank you very much for the quick approach to he software. I’ve been using it for a couple of years but never explored these options.
👏👏 An amazing tutorial! You’ve demonstrated aspects of this program that I didn’t even know were possible!
