I completely agree with how you compared the original Kino to the Remaster. The original had creepy, abandoned vibe and the Damned underscore just amplified that. The remaster just felt like eye candy. A good remake/remaster should definitely bring something new, but mostly follow the outline of the original. Resident Evil Remake and RE2 Remake are some of the best examples of this. Rakefire, why did you diss on the Silent Hill Remaster? I was thinking of trying out the Silent Hill games. Is it not worth it?
I can not stress the importance of playing the original silent hill games over the remasters. There are numerous differences but I believe the difference in fog makes a huge difference in atmosphere (being worse in the remasters). If you can, emulate the games or play them on PC with mods that fix some of the issues. Silent Hill is an amazing franchise but the remasters don't do the games any justice.
