@@mrsentencename7334well there’s two…the ez flash omega and the everdrive gba. Both are great options cause they can emulate pretty much the entire gba library.
I got mine when I was in grade 11. Loved it for RPG’s. Still have it to this day and it’s a great little device that holds up. It’s wild that it’s going for so much nowadays.
Gameboy Micro was never worth it in my eyes, it is a collectors item with limited capabilities. It's definitely sleek and I love how it looks, but practically I find it difficult to justify paying more than $80-100 for a console like it, which is a price hard to find in today's retro market.
It's a mixed bag with this one, I appreciate that it's the most compact version of the GBA, but also, it's the most compromised. No backward compatibility is a massive drawback. All it really has going for it is its display, which is a bit more crisp than the GBA SP, maybe even a tad brighter than even the AGS-101, but it's also way more desaturated, which personally, doesn't look as good. The SP's AGS-101 display really pops with those vibrant colors which lends itself really well to pixel art. The SP is honestly the definitive version, all it lacks is an aux port, but it's basically perfect. The clamshell design is so iconic and serves a great practical purpose of protecting the screen which would otherwise be very easy to scratch. It's fully backward compatible, has a great battery life, it's very comfortable to hold and use, even for long periods.
Glad to see the Game Boy Micro getting the love it deserves after not getting it at the time but damn these things got expensive! I'm not letting mine go anytime soon. Stick a flashcart in it and it plays GB/GBC games and it's a great little console to throw (gently) in a bag for a trip. Cool video and that's a gorgeous face plate.
i'd say if you can get ur hands on a ds lite you should get one of those, especially when they have a broken top screen but work fine other than that, because you can mod them into a gameboy macro. combining that with a omega flash card and putting the ds lite shell on that flash card (so that the card will sit flush in the ds lite) will basically get you a bigger gameboy micro with every gba game you could ever want and a sleek design. and in the end you will spend less than on a gameboy micro. ofc the advance sp ags-101 is also a very solid choice, being a little more expensive than the mod i was talking about combined with that particular flashcard. also you need some soldering skills for the gameboy macro mod, but there are tons of videos on that topic, i recommend macho nachos video on the gameboy macro for anyone interested.
I found one in near new condition at my local game shop for 100 bucks and he also swapped the power cord to usbc, fucking amazing.. ready to smash some fire red.. it’s the metallic purple model
I was working at a game store when these came out. They sucked, besides the high quality screen, and nobody wanted them. That’s why they were dropped so fast and put on clearance.
H**l no it's not worth it! Between the ridiculous cost of the hardware, and especially the software/games, there's no reason to blow that kinda dough. That's why emulation is THE BEST, and the enormous amounts of options to play it all, both handhelds, and home systems, too, is insane...so much at your fingertips, and it's all free, too!!! Best of all...absolutely no clutter, more money in your pocket, and a lot more enjoyable than having to fool with cartridges!!!!!! 🙂👍
I personally hated it, the screen was awful, playing action games like Metroid or MegaMan zero, was painful... I exchange it for a GBA sp instead and problem solved. Not recomendable.
I'm obsessed with mine. Combine it with an EZ Flash cart with sleep mode and you can sneak in so many quick play sessions throughout your day.
What cart do you recommend?

Not going to lie this is a hard flex in retro handheld gaming. Especially with your metallic blue face plate looks so premium and sleek.
I got mine for $60 at a pawn shop and it's the Famicom one, and I always wanted a Gameboy Micro for years
“Should you spend $300+ on a Gameboy Micro?” No.
It really is just a collector item with way better options out there
I bought one last month for under 200
I bought one new back in the day for €50 lol
There are a lot of micros under 150$ just gotta look for them and man there are rare ones that are more expensive
@michaelm9211 You say that like it's a flex lol. 200 dollars on a retro console?? Damn

I've always wanted one mainly because I like collecting handhelds and this one in particular has always interested me

Nice little tech piece I had no clue even existed 💯 definitely would have loved one as a kid!
It looks great and seems super convenient, but the SP seems to have been the peak of Gameboy design.
I dislike the clicky buttons, gameboy micro feels pretty identical to the original gba, and plus the portability is very good.

just bought one thanks to ebay handing out 10% discounts. i wanted to get one again because the prices are starting to get out of hand lmao
I got mine for 170$ last fall, right before the current inflation
I don't regret it ❤
The battery depleted Drastically after a couple days of use..

Get a GBA SP instead. Youll be able to also play GB/GBC games on the SP unlike a Micro.
Or you can get a gba multicart with GB/GBC games on it

Just bought one yesterday 120€, best console i had
Its also the only time i beleive they used the famicom theme in the US the 20th anniversary one got the red and white theming.
I just bought it because I find it cute. 150€
Do I need it? No.
Can you make a video gameplay comparing Gameboy Micro vs Trimui Smart mini and Gameboy Micro vs Rg28xx

Best color scheme I've seen besides the Mario red and gold lol
We need a Gameboy micro XL.
No. Sp is way better. Micro just looks fun
If you have the cash and this is a supplement to your collection ... Hell yes. I love mine (red Pikachu Pokemon Center Japan Exclusive)
I'm going to Japan this winter. If I can find one under $100 I'm grabbing it. 👍
Happy hunting!

I got lucky and bought one half off brand new from a store that was going out of business many years back when no one cared about it.
I don't think the Gameboy micro was ever worth it. It is really cute though.
Definitely worth it for a quick game 🤙🏽
IM GETTING ONE
Is it worth it? Probably not
But I mean…
LOOK AT HOW ADORABLE IT IS
In all seriousness though, I’m perfectly happy with my Advance SP. That model’s definitely the way to go
No because it isn't backwards compatible with gameboy color and gameboy games like the original gba and gba sp.
get ez flash card and you have all games
No, just purchase yourself an ANBERNIC RG300X instead! You won't regret it.

I played and finished Mega Man Zero in mine, ni problems. To me it is more comfortable to hold than the SP, and it had a headphone jack.
