Interesting video…One of my favourite salvias such a dramatic plant. Bought my first online and now have quite a few (from cuttings, but didn’t realise you could roots them in water!) Also you say they are hardy…I will try one this winter outside…presumably cut back the stems and mulch++? I have only grown in pots so far and then put it in an unheated greenhouse for the winter (am in UK) Thank you
Yes they are cold hardy down to around about -5 Celsius but they won't like a combination of wet roots and freezing conditions like we had last winter. I had a couple die but I still have one to take more cuttings from. I would advise keeping a couple in the greenhouse just as a back up if this worked well for you in previous years. Yes cut back stems and yes provide a dry mulch. Simon
