    Hey Peter took a little low a MIG welder and filled in all them craters in the blade it would look extremely better but other than that it looks pretty good and I know most people is going to say well he even calls it to lose tension no he won't cause it to lose tension if you do it properly just barely hit it fill in the pits grind them down be done with it polish it and you'll never know it ever had a pit in it I know I've done it before but good job it looks great

    I understand sanding “cross grain” is easier than sanding with the grain, but it simply goes against everything I know about finishing wood.

    • @Danielson1818
      @Danielson1818 Рік тому

      It's kinda impossible to make that handle shape only going with the grain. Using a strip to go side to side is how pretty much all makers round out a handle. I'm not into gun building, but I assume they do the same with the old pistol handles.

    Coprire la lama con altro acciaio fuso si può? Buon lavoro. Bravo.

    • @vecchioteschio

      L'acciaio fuso solidificandosi avrebbe una grana grossa, inclusioni cristalline e detriti al suo interno, potrebbe persino ossidare dall'interno.
      Già le saldature, una volta sottoposte a stress fisico e termico, rischiano di "saltare".
      A questo punto tanto vale riforgiare la lama da zero

    Is this an old Scagel handmade knife that was found buried ? If so it might be worth a few $100 even more than you might think. Restoring it might hurt the value of a genuine Scagel but not too much if it’s a solid job.

    This is not a hunting knife, it's called a bokuri, combination of a Bowie n a kukuri, I had one made for me to carry in s.e. Asia, great for jungle use n if need be as a fighting knife, also a great survival tool.

    I strongly doubt that you could harden the blade with those two butane torches. I tried to do it with a way smaller blade for a pocket knife from simple C75 steel with two torches and it just wouldnt heat up enough. Proper heat = proper results. I guess you knew that, otherfise you would have shown a file test along the blade. It is a nice knife and a good looking handle, also i like that you didn't fill the all the gaps on the blade but it will never hold a proper edge and therefore doesn't fulfill it's task as a hunting knife.
