  • At around 10:01pm, Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the 900 block of south Park View Street for a reported structure fire. Battalion 18 was first on scene and found a vacant two story Craftsman-style well involved with fire. Mostly a defensive operation, firefighters took 46 minutes to knock down the fire. Aggressive exposure protection limited damage to an adjacent apartment building to the north and prevented damage to an adjacent building operating as a daycare center to the south. No injuries reported. The cause remains under investigation.
    Additional info: Units from relatively distant areas to 11's district such as Engine 95, Light Force 85, and Light Force 75 that were moved up in Battalion 11 were the first arriving companies to the scene because of another major emergency fire in 10's district that broke out at 8:40pm and took 70 minutes to knock down.

    Thank goodness!! Finally, a fire department that actually cared about protecting the exposure more than the totaled fire building. Very well done LAFD! 👍🏻

    Was just a little worried about those two members in the collapse zone. Roof looked weak when they were working on the exposure.

    Can somebody tell me why LAFD still drags large diameter lines up their aerials even when they know they can at least build aerials with pipes?

      That’s because of the previous big fire on 9th and Main St, that fire took the companies that would have been here.

    "The cause remains under investigation." No, it's not under investigation, it's just a matter of the City of LA refusing to admit that yet ANOTHER major fire and property damage was caused by squatters. If only the LAFD understood that there are companies that sell ariel apparatus that have nozzles on the end (ie, a freakin tower ladder or a quint) then maybe, just maybe (though knowing LAFD, doubtfully) they could dispatch crews that could get a master stream on the fire with some kind of efficiency. Seriously, LAFD should fire their entire training division and fly over the training crew from FDNY and start teaching their crews how to really fight a fire.

      @jmWhyMe 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, it boggles my mind that they pay for an extra engine and two crew (light force) instead of paying for the ladder pipe and associated plumbing and systems, even if it isn't a Quint. There will always be Engines available to pump to the truck...

      Would love to see NYFD on a large multi-day wildland fire. They would probably don SCBA.

      @@onthewater4189 actually believe it or not, FDNY DOES have such wildland fires...

      The property has had an open planning case since feb 2020, the property had previously burned sometime before nov 2021 according to google street view images. My guess is its another shady developer in LA.

    • @justanotherguy1110
      @justanotherguy1110 2 роки тому +4

      I never understood that either. It'd be way easier to have a truck with an already plumbed system & monitor at the end. It seems kinda medieval & stupid to me to run hose up the ladder, it's not like they can't afford it.

    These guys are wasting water---the FIRE is inside and needs top-down, ASAP!
