The weight of the segments and the fact of the digging machine is undermining the ground under the cutting edge ..ive put down 12 meter shafts without using the jacks but still need them incase it sticks for any reason ..Plus you can use digging machine to nudge it down also by putting the weight of the bucket on top of shaft

Was the concrete ring liner sinking under its own weight/mass ? Or was it being pushed down by hydraulics ?
While excavating the ground, the weight of the ring causes it to sink down.
