You are very welcome! I had trouble understanding the importance of cap size because I couldn’t find clear information on it so I am so glad that it is helping others🤍!!!
Thank you for all the info... I’m so glad you made this video, for a first time topper buyer I was so scared to buy a topper and this has been going on for r months. Now thanks to you I think I’m ready to buy my first topper . Looking forward to seeing more videos from you - 💞
I'm looking into toppers to use to make wigs, so will need no clips or combs, as it will be sewed onto a wig foundation, with wefts added to make a complete wig.
Thank you for the video. Super super helpful! I am new to topper and wig world. I have thinning on the crown area. I don't feel comfortable having my hair down. I am very self-conscious that my scalp is very visible. Thinking of getting a topper but I am afraid of the comfort because I have a sensitive scalp and I also get migraine headaches. I have been researching wigs and toppers and losing my mind and whatever hair I have left. This video was the most helpful. Thank you so much. Is it crazy to think of directly getting a wig and skipping the topper step? I would love to know what you think.
Sorry for the late reply I just saw this but. I recently started wearing wigs in the last couple months, So I can give you a much more informed response today. I would say I definitely encourage you to skip the topper step if you haven’t purchased a topper already! I really tried to minimize the use of Clips with my topper but I always still had to use at least two clips. With my wig I wear none! Just a wig grip. Wigs seem very daunting at first and the topper can seem like a less intense but the reality is there is just at getting used to it period. toppers do soften that transition but it is definitely not necessary. You are strong and able! We all are! And now that I have worn a wig it is not scary at all! Would love to hear what you decided to do!!!
I'm torn because I like the idea of the cap feeling more secure, the larger it is. But I also don't want more volume, because it it will be very noticeable given my starting point.
leleiskindofcool because you want to feel confident in your piece, I would say you would be better off with a smaller cap size then. (Assuming you don’t have extensive hair loss, because if you did, in my experience one needs a larger cap size the more advanced the hair loss is, like mine). The larger cap size to me does feel like it sits better on the head but the smaller ones didn’t feel like they were going to fall off at all. Another option is to get a larger cap but then have a stylist thin it out but personally I haven’t done that. I also would be a worried it would not turn out right. You could look into a hand tied topper instead of a wefted back topper, they are supposed to be a lighter density. Hope this helps!
@@althairbish Thanks for the reply :). My hair loss is very evenly distributed, just have very thin hair with a feather-like texture. That's why your topper grip suggestion was lifesaver. A bigger topper would look better for sure, but I'm worried about suddenly showing up with great hair lol ! Please share the tragic story of your first topper. I think we all end up losing money when we first start off with toppers. When I took my only and first topper to a stylist to color match, they stained the silk! I even had them watch the Highline tutorial on UA-cam. Oh well, it's not horrible--depends how I part it. But with things like this, some painful trial and error comes with the territory.
leleiskindofcool I totally get that, we want to be incognito! It sometimes really is a lot of trial and error, which is why I think it’s so important to share what we learn! Ugh I’m sorry to hear a stylist stained your topper but it’s a good thing that it could be made to be unnoticeable. If you by some chance live near Chicago, Pearls Of Chicago carries Highline pieces that you could try on to give you a better idea of sizing. I’ve been wanting to share my first topper story forever so I will get on that when I can!
I just watched your video, and wondered if you ever sale any of the toppers you don't wear anymore? If so I would be very interested, and am in great need of a topper or wig. Thanks!
You have covered the details very well. If you are new to toppers/hair helpers this information will be very useful. It's correct that some of smaller base will show some gaps/lines with movement, however, this is only a concern if you have thin or no hair in those parts. If you still have a lot of hair at the back or the sides then this won't be an issue. The less hair you have the more you will spend. The smaller base seems appropriate when thin/bald in certain places only. If you are experiencing thinning/balding all over go for a 8/9 or plus. Thanks for sharing this information with a smorgasbord of selection, it's often harder to select the correct item.
Ughh, I am so glad I am not alone on this journey of toppers. I just feel like uniwigs has that wig shine that I can't stand. I just purchased a very expensive European hair topper it's gorgeous but after seeing your video I think I need a larger cap size.. I just hate feeling so hot in the summer. Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with that? Also, does Highline hair have that shine to the hair? Spraying dry shampoo is an awful way of concealing it, it just makes it look dusty😏
Lula Bella i don’t really have any recommendations for the heat beyond putting it in a low side pony.. I honestly don’t get too hot from it so I’ve never really experimented with it but a low side pony or braid to keep the hair out of the way on a hot day does help me!
lula you are not alone... you'd think living in a big city as austin texas you'd find a place to go in and ask questions but nope... it gets hell hot here. try low density, lace/silk.
@@jennahope4353 you are a doll for responding 😘 where do I find low density lace/silk? Lace fronts are equally as difficult to work with as those pesky silk front cut off points where it's noticeable. My European hair topper is 😍and I like my Jean Renau topper but it's so shiny even after multiple washings🙄
Very informative! This video helped me understand cap sizes better than any video I’ve come across. Thank you

Thank u for good information . How much weight for smaller size ?
Hello. Thank you very much for the video. Did you ever try a 10x10 topper ?
Where can i get this?
So helpful! Thank you.
