This theme isn't what you'd really expect for Ryu, but it portrays where he is in SFIII perfectly: having conquered the Satsui no Hado, Ryu now is very calm, clear-headed, and at peace. Ryu is honestly life goals.
I wished they used this in SF5 or Kobu instead of spamming the dam sf2 music again. I love sf2's ost but it's overrated and considering the game is set new 3 new generation it only makes sense.
I was in university when SF III came out, and I was excited that a new Street Fighter game was coming out. The whole SF III series had such a cool musical theme. All of the characters' themes, the intro, selection, match beginnings and endings, and ending tunes were consistent with each other, and they were so distinct from SF II. But Capcom needs to bring this one back.
For me “Rising Dragoon” from SF EX plus Alpha is his best, followed by his Alpha 2 theme, then “The Road” from Alpha 3 and “Good Fighter” from New Generation.
People didn’t like the Dark Hadou aspect of Ryu? The world truly is big. I thought Ryu’s internalized conflict with the Dark Hadou was awesome, especially once he unlocked the Nothingness/ Dijin mode
Grand Oblivion it’s pretentious and takes away from ryus best traits. His sf2 ending says it all, he wins the tournament but never shows up for the celebration. He doesn’t care about victory he just wants a fight to learn from. “A defeat learned from is more important than a hollow victory “ “every moment gives us a chance to become more than what we are” ryu is a man always seeking to improve him self above all else and that’s what makes him cool, not this moral bull shit.
@Kolbe Santana yes I totally agree. The character just feels sort of like a cripple. Always being held back beacuse of the doubt. Thankfully it seems to be over after SF5
@@Neogears1312 Akuma is basically the "original" Evil Ryu anyway. His character was what was meant to represent everything Ryu could become if he strayed from his honest path. Evil Ryu's existence is not only pretentious, but also redundant.
Absolutely the best series of Street Fighter games. Alpha and SFIII were the best titles in the series. Moreso III because of the amazing music and ambience. The FGC was also at its best then.
@@sridrawings4510 I'd say the difference is Ryu is more serious and Goku is more goofy/dimwitted, they are both "fighting geniuses" tho and are very smart and strategic in battle, they are also good at analyzing their opponents. I wouldn't say Ken and Goku have a similar personality, Ken is just more nonchalant and laid back personality wise, he's not really naive and goofy like Goku.
I have seen many people argue about the many (or should I say four) themes that ryu had across his many appearances and personally I like them all for different reasons. His alpha 3 theme invokes the feeling of non stop practice as ryu aims to improve himself and move on from being a rookie. His SF2 theme has a heroic tone and the feeling of a never ending struggle as the battle between himself and the satsui no hado lasts for what feels like an eternity (also implied by this theme being really overused). His new generation theme shows the aftermath of said struggle as ryu is a lot more calm and clear minded when it comes to his training as he no longer as has to worry about his desire for power from ever taking over which explains why it's a lot more upbeat than the other themes. And finally his 3rd strike is a representation of ryu's concentration on training and becoming stronger with each passing day and night knowing that the answer lies in the heart of battle. While I have a lot of nostalgia for the SF2 theme I have to say the new generation theme is super underrated and the reason I really like is because it emphasizes a different part of ryu's personality. You see most of the time ryu is calm and collected he is not very talkative and doesn't mince his words at all however when you have ryu hanging out with a character like ken or sakura it reveals to us that deep down ryu is a lot more cheerful than we may think. If SF6 takes place after 3rd strike I hope that they give ryu a new theme that focuses more on that part of his character. I wouldn't like to have yet another remix of his SF2 theme, first because it's overused, and second because it no longer makes sense for ryu from a story standpoint. The satsui no hado plotpoint has helped make the character more interesting but I would say that enough time has passed for us to move on to other parts of who ryu really is.
@D F 2 I'd say it gives similar vibes to alpha in the sense that ryu is training none stop while also highlighting his enthusiasm for fighting and how far he is willing to go on to become stronger with each passing day. I have actually only heard it a while ago but it grew on me really quickly and became one of my favourite ryu themes.
At this point in the Street Fighter timeline: Bison's dead. Ryu doesn't have to worry about the dictator trying to steal his body. He's mastered the Power of Nothingness. The Satsui no Hado no longer has any hold on him. Ryu can once again enjoy fighting and focus on bettering himself.
