Part of my Superman 2 fan edit. This scene is directly after the scene where Lex meets the villains at the White House and is followed by the scene of the villains arriving at the Daily Planet.

Amazing editing. This is exactly what would happen after Superman gets his power back. This scene was so important that it was left out in the movie. Thank you for letting us see it finally.
I always thought that after Clark's powers were completely restored, we should have seen him stand up with a full shot of him back in the suit and fly straight out of the fortress, it would have been a very epic moment for the movie as a way of saying Superman is back and better than ever. Absolutely loved this, it feels much more complete.

In the Superman ii richard donner cut didn't show when the Clark Kent was restoring the power from the jorel. Jorel was restoring the Clark power and the Clark was restoring his into Superman again. But it didn't show when Clark Kent was restoring into the dvd when the Clark Kent became Superman suit in the scene. In Superman iii like evil superman was looking at the glasses and breaking the glasses and look at the sky. Hope the Superman ii revision scenes in the dvd & bluray to restoring the power from the Superman suit.
From Superman iii June 17,1983 like the evil superman was looking up.

Very impressive, but I can see that scenes was taken from Superman 3. When Superman got his power back, you can see him breathing from relief, but this scene is from Superman 3 when evil Superman got rid of Clark in the conveyor. Only a true fan of Superman movies could see that.❤
True. Reeve was much older looking in Superman III but in some ways looks a lot like the classic Silver Age Curt Swan Superman from the comics at that point.

This honestly looks amazing! Marlon Brando did amazing work on Superman (1978) and it was frustrating to see that he wasn't in the theatrical release of Superman II (1980) and it was great.

@@joaniekeyser4036 The Salkinds didn't want to pay Brando since he demanded 11% of the gross profits if Superman II was a hit so being the cheapskates they were they scrapped all his footage and replaced him with Susannah York instead. She did fine but I prefer Brando for continuity sake.
This is EXACTLY how I would have done the scene if I was doing the Donner cut back in the day. My only bit of advice is that at 5:15 Superman looks a tad too big for his surroundings. If he's a bit smaller, I'm sure this would look 100% perfect. Good job with this edit and I can't wait to see the final complete project!

That was pretty damn good, usually these edits I notice the cuts in a bad way, considering what was changed here, it was a comfortable viewing

That's cool I had wondered how Clark had gotten his Superman outfit back after he got his powers back from his father I guess it just magically appeared back on his body after it had vanished when he had gave up his powers.
They need to finally release this tv version of 2 on dvd, they did it with Superman the movie.
For me the only truly good scene in the Donner cut

Never give your power away
fantastic job. If I had a recommendation for any alteration, I'd use the Superman music from the original Movie, perhaps when he's taking off his clark kent clothes showing the S for the first time when he's running and saves Lois from the helicopter. That theme is so powerful, I feel the music in superman 2 (the NON-Williams) score, just doesn't have the same power... but great job on this edit. You're amazing.

No matter how many times I hear the Ken Thorne score for Superman II it just doesn't measure up to John Williams at all. Even parts of the score for Superman IV sound better thanks to Alexander Courage.

I think they cut out a scene where the d powered Clark dies in the Arctic halfway to the fortress....
This might sound silly, but have you ever thought of putting this in after Luthor starts waving his handkerchief at the villains and before Superman shows up on the flagpole? I feel like THAT might create more tension, that you don't know that Superman is coming when the villains are threatening life and limb to people in Perry White's office, and then IMMEDIATELY after the repowering, BAM!, Superman is there, triumphant -- I feel like that moment would just be THAT much more satisfying coming after the second death of Jor-El.
Only thing I'd do would be to, in the fade back from white after he cries "Father!", have no Clark laying facedown on the platform -- so he's gone, immediately repowered, and shows up on the flagpole in Metropolis screen-seconds later. Like a JOLT. I think it'd work!:-)
It would definitely be a different way to do it. The thing is working with the footage that's already there. I think to go that route we would need to split the walking to the fortress and arrival there. So cut from the daily planet to Clark walking into the fortress. The way the original footage is with the music and fades from one clip to the next it makes it very hard to reorganise it. With the raw footage definitely doable, but with it in its already edited state less feasable.
@@faneditedbybooshman Rather than fade, you might want to just put a dramatic cue in into the shot of Clark's feet walking. Raise the music level, then *bum*, Clark in the Arctic. But I should probably familiarize myself with the cues available to see if there are any that's properly fit.
@@blofeld39 By fades I mean the video footage is faded from one scene to the next as well as there is a music cue playing throughout. If the scene is chopped up you are limited by how the video is faded, and the music replacement then requires the rest of the audio to be rebuilt. It's one of those scenes that's really hard to try and undo how it's been edited without having the original elements available.
OK now I need this in my life. Please work faster than the Game of Thrones writer, I want to see this in my lifetime!

Only thing I didnt get was why when he got his powers back why didn't all the control pannels repair to as zod states when there all in the temple ( scruffy. A replica of a planet long since vanished )
Best version of Superman 2 would be with the Brando scenes inserted along with the Eifel tower opening and magic kiss at the end with Superman returning the flag .
How did Brando get the British accent? (Sounds more impressive than the American Geschprach?)

Why is the fortress so green? Is it meant to be like that?
If you mean at the start I recoloured it a bit. It was always green on the DVD. Then on the bluray there were purples visible. I made it look the way it did before as I prefer it.

I have a question. Why didn't Lex Luthor and Eve Teshmacher die in Superman II? We're talking about the Fortress of Solitude. The security measures should have neutralized both of them because they're not from Krypton. Even if they didn't die, they shouldn't have been able to access the Krypton Database for the same reason. The Jor-El hologram should have detected that a Non Kryptonian was in the presence.

How did you do the water splash at the end?!?!
It's footage from the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox. Superman is covering up the jet from that movie in that shot. Same with the rest of the footage flying through the Arctic, all from that film.

Ka lel knew when his powers were being removed, how come the 3 villains didn't feel the same? It is stated in superman that his dense molecular structure under a yellow sun will make him superhuman yet how could red Krypton rays change that? Surely that would work the the kryptonite and act like radiation killing him instead?

It's a pivotal part of the scene. Clark admits his arrogance and basically breaks down in guilt.
I don't think it's particularly well acted. Reeve mumbles his way through it and I'm sure Donner would have reshot this early stuff had he come back.

It was actually the red light from the cop car, and the scene is in the VUDU version of the Donner Cut, it's the only time the scene has been seen in it's entirety in widescreen.

I would also like to ask you if some of the scenes where Superman is standing up in his supersuit after getting his powers back are from the real movie?
Booshman very cleverly used footage from Superman 3 to achieve this effect, and it's frankly the closest I've seen anyone come to creating the re-powering finale that we Superman fans have always wanted.
As heartofalegend points out there are shots from Superman 3, all the ones from being lay down to getting up. The wide shot when fully restored is from Superman 2. The take-off is from Superman the Movie. Flying from the fortress is from part 3 again, then the first film for the over the shoulder and flying at camera shots, then back to 3 for the last shot. All these shots have new backgrounds pieced together from various shots of the fortress from the two versions of Superman 2, with elements moved or painted out. The last 3 shots use footage from the Clint Eastwood movie Firefox. There are also 2 shots that were horizontally flipped, so I had to flip Superman's \S/ back to it's proper orientation.

Love the smoothness of your editing style somewhat. But when editing a fan-edit of Superman II, i'd stick closer to the original Donner '77 shooting script and not feature Superman rising up after Jor-El revived his powers? I'd simply have Clark's body glowing on the ground and crackling with a faint energy through his body as the script highlights instead. Superman's shocking surprise return comes when he facing down General Zod, Ursa and Non in Metropolis! But this scene is from your cut and not mine so i still appreciate it, for what it is though. So well done in that regard at the very least.

Very much like the Terminator disc, or even the Alien movie discs, but with many more variations of the cut to watch. Speak to you later.
This edit is definitely beautiful and perfect up until the switchover to the Superman costume. It does seem like for drama and suspense, the best way to end the repowering is for Clark to collapse in a cloud of dust or beams of light. The reveal of the suit at the Daily Planet seems to be the best time for the audience to know that he is truly back as Superman.
So Clark heads up to the north pole where it's cold and snowing wearing the same spring jacket he was wearing when he got in the fight at the diner, I'm sure the producers decided to just leave it and not even bother dealing with it at all.

Superman II could have been so epic if the Salkinds had kept Richard Donner and paid Brando. Richard Lester was an awful director.
