Great comparison. The Platinum is definitely top of the line. Once you get to that level in the trim, seems the 1794 and Capstone just add a few nuanced differences. My 2022 Limited with the TRD OR is a huge step up from the 1st Gen 2006 I had. I recently finished a road trip in the new truck pulling a 5500 lb travel trailer from Tucson to Colorado Springs and it was unbelievable how easily the truck towed up and down the mountains. Looking forward to more reviews.
Great video. The only thing I would add is the the air suspension with the HUD and extra drive mode features is part of the optional Advanced Package with the platinum and not standard. Same with the power side steps. Just didn’t want folks thinking all of that was standard. I believe you did mention that they were “available” but not sure everyone would pick that up to mean optional. Thanks
This was great! I definitely want a Platinum!!!! I drive a BMW M series, and the Platinum has everything mine has. Can't do without stuff that you get used too! lol
I just bought a Platinum Tundra. Still learning all its features. One thing that stood out was my truck only has Eco, normal and sport. Your's had more options. Personally I love the blue stitching on the leather but overall I'm glad I went with the Platinum one. Thanks for the video. Now I need to learn hidden features 🤔
I’ve just ordered the Crewmax Limited with the TRD Off-road package. I’m told I’ll be waiting 12 to 18 months for it. I guess all I can do now is keep watching videos about it and dream. Keep up the videos!
@@mtfishingwizard There is no “ordering.” You submit an “order” with a dealer, and that basically reserves your right to buy that truck when it is allocated to the dealer.
Great comparison between the two. I'm still waiting for mine to be built, but I chose the platinum hybrid with the air suspension and tow mirrors. I wanted the off road that you get with the TRD package, but loved the platinum look. I liked it better than 1794 and the limited. I still think your truck is sweet and I also got the blueprint color. With the accent lighting inside and the hybrid blue that kind of matches, I'm very excited to get my truck. I too took the option for the black lettering for the tundra stamp on the tailgate. Enjoy your videos!
Try this. On your mirror selection dial from left to right. Leave it on the left side and then put the truck in reverse. The mirrors auto tilt down for ease of backing into lined parking spots. Feature is turned off if dial in centered or on right option. I believe. I own the platinum edition.
Limited with off road package any day of the week. But I am heavily leaning towards more off road capability. Not so important to non off road enthusiast. Thx for video!
I have a 2022 Limited Lunar Rock color w/ TRD Off Road package and same options yours has. I love it. I do not want adaptive suspension and adjustable rear end leveling - to me that is all nonsense and something else to go wrong. I got 21 mpg on the 900 mile trip I did last week at about 70-75mph average. Not too bad really. The upgraded JBL system is pretty sweet, it totally rocks SXM Octane channel LOL
I'll be buying the Limited in a few months, 4X4, with the $2445 "Limited PVM Package with options" package. My wife just got a '23 RAV4 XLE Premium with the SofTex interior, and I love it. I have bought leather in the past because it cleans up easier than cloth, but the SofTex is just as easy to clean as leather, and is less expensive, and just as comfortable.
Love the platinum but my allocation is for a limited trd offroad. My build date was May 18th. Still waiting for mine to be delivered to the dealership now. Can't wait to get mine. In Washington state.
Very good comparison! I went with the 1794, and I agree with you that double-sided tape does not look cheap. However everything else about the vehicle I love and Glad I made the purchase. One issue I notice, and let me know if you have the same. On the passenger side rear door, there seems to be wind noise when driving.
Thank you, this was very helpful! Currently am set to get a limited crew max with TRD in June but have been wondering about the platinum and how they compare.
Are the seats in the platinum a lot more comfortable with the leg support feature than a limited without? Tall guy asking. Currently have a RAV4 and feels like I’m sitting on a toilet.
Toyota doesn’t provide for a split screen while using navigation. You have to get out of that screen to access another menu item like music. It’s inconvenient. The 3D rotating camera view does not allow itself to stop. The icon just rotates freely for some unknown reason. The tech is a bit out matched by competitors. It’s turning radius has increased markedly so U-turns in traffic as with parking, is more difficult. Good video 👍
It’s not the wheelbase that makes them ride far different but the Platinum has adaptive suspension where as Limited and below just have traditional shocks and springs
Vast majority of car and truck body emblems and trim are adhesive taped and it’s been that way for decades. It’s so prevalent that they make a special tool to remove the adhesive (rubber wheel that attaches to your polishing buffer).
Thank you for the in depth video, these are the two trims I'm comparing but there isn't a lot of information clearly explaining each of the trims. Definitely things to think about, getting the limited with trd off road, or a platinum with all the bells and whistles along with real leather....
Great review still waiting for me ordered my TRD Pro last December and since we’re from the north(Canada) it will not gonna arrive this year so I change my order to TRD limited Iforce max hopefully it will arrive this year.
I own a 2023 Platinum. My regrets are not getting the off road option as well as the air suspension, but at the end of the day, other than inclement weather, I’d rarely be in need of the terrain feature. I rarely tow, so the air suspension would’ve been a ‘want’ not a need. This will be my last vehicle, and I came very close to buying the Capstone, but the increased cost just wasn’t worth it. The seat colours for the Capstone were also a no go. Grandkids combined with bad behaviour scared me away from white leather. The HUD is great. I had a fully loaded RAM eco diesel that was my favourite truck at the time I bought it, but notwithstanding not having a diesel, the Tundra is my new favourite. Ram was destroyed by an idiot running a red light, t-boning the Ram and almost killing me.
Thanks again for your reviews, this IRL sideXside is super helpful & reassuring.
