Don’t get me wrong, if the whole seat was broken, id be making a big deal. But the extender isn’t any reason to get bent out of shape. Im going to get under the seat and see if the wire is loose. If not, it gets fixed when it goes in for service.

My seat extender stopped working after about a week. I was pretty annoyed at first but it’s really not a big deal. Toyota took care of it. We are 45,000 miles into our 2023 1794. I would do it all over again. Dream truck for us.

Just negotiated 8,200 off the sticker for a nicely equipped Limited but walked away because I still think I can do better. Turns out the dealer sold the truck next day (and that's ok) because there are (still) others out there. Since this is most certainly a 'want' versus a 'need' I continue my hunt for the killer deal.

Excellent video. I traded in my 2022 Limited for a 2024 Platinum and absolutely love it. The platinum and 1794 have a lot in common and the road noise is so much more quieter compared to the limited. Being a Toyota fan for a long time I can only hope for longevity with this truck. Before trading in my 2022 Limited I drove other manufacturers and after driving them something brought me right back to the Tundra. There is just something about the drive and feel of this truck compared to the others (personal preferences). Thanks for making these videos.

Dang, 160K is still barely broken in at least in the previous gen tundra world. Sold my 2014 back in 2019 no complaints whatsoever, it was great truck. Now I own the current gen it’s better in every way except its questionable long term reliability and of course ridiculous price.
Still wish I have some sort of assurance of predictive future like my old truck though. Well guess maybe it’s too much to ask for in today’s world.

I have not used the seat extender except once to try it out on my 2024 1794 Hybrid. But I will start to use it to see if it breaks before warranty runs out. Dealer said the engine noise couldn’t be turned off ( or to lazy on first service) so I did it myself. Personal preference, I like it better, can hear the turbos kick in when I rarely press hard on the gas pedal. The enhanced noise reminds me of when I put a playing card on the rear wheel spokes of my bicycle as a kid. Have done 24 mpg in eco mode being light enough on the pedal to keep it under 2k on the tachometer during acceleration. But generally get 16 to 22 mpg. I wonder how long it will take to save on gas to make up for the more expensive price.

Great review! Ive had 2 F150 FX4s and they held up well. As a biz owner i need a truck that meets the sec 179 deduction threshold GVWR without all the added luxury bling and tech features. The base Tundra SR was the best overall value. SR standard features- even with the “detuned” 348hp base engine- were impressive. Plenty of power for my needs. (Waited for the market to cool down and dealers willing to negotiate) So far after 2,200 miles this base level Tundra SR has been flawless and feels much tighter and more refined than my previous FX4s. I prefer the exterior design of the FX4 but otherwise the base Tundra SR stacks up well against higher trim package competitors. For those lkg for a lot of truck under $50k, the SR and SR5 are worth a look.

I’ve got a 23 Platinum and had the same issue with the intermittent leg lumbar issue in the driver’s seat. I had it worked on earlier in the year and it worked briefly. My dealership then said Toyota identified there is an issue that they now know about. Got contacted earlier this week that they fixed the issue (apparently a missing washer on some part that works the arm). I bring it in Monday to get fixed along with replacing the driver side door trim that popped off at the end. Other than these issues I absolutely love my very first Tundra with 20K miles already driven.

Nope, staying with my 2019 1794. Oh and they had the same kind of floor mats you talk about here. Replaced them immediately with Husky. Just got mine detailed, new tires, alignment, radiator flush, oil change. Putting some new steps on and will probably upgrade the front grill and bumper. Maintenance wise I need to to get a tranny flush, transfer case oil change and maybe new brakes soon. Contemplating putting in new stereo and speaker system. Still drives great at 98K. The only way I buy a new truck is if they come out with a naturally aspirated V8 5.7 or diesel that is over engineered like the current one I own. I might buy a different Toyota later, but keeping this truck (ole reliable) forever. If you can afford to buy a used Gen II and keep it, even when you want something new that's what I would recommend. Keep the Gen II and never trade it. Buy something else, but keep ole reliable around. Might be the last one you will ever own, the way they make them now.

Just FYI: The remote feature that comes with the truck for the first year where you can remote start or see if your truck is locked or lock it from your phone. Tire pressure and more. I let mine laps and did not renew after the free 1st year. Low and behold, navigation is also tied with this option. I wanted navigation back, door lock from phone, tire pressure, etc. Signed back up and got Nav. back but nothing more. Went for 3rd free service and told them my phone would not sink up to get the feature I had signed up for. They said Toyota has given that service to a 3rd party now and this is a ongoing problem. I would have to leave my truck with them for at least 4 hours if not all day to fix the problem. Been 4 months now that I have been paying $15 dollars a month and not getting the full benefits of the service. Not to happy. Dealer is far enough away, it is a special trip.
If you want the service, sign up before the free deadline to avoid this problem.
P.S. : I like the little amount of exhaust noise even though it is pumped through the speakers. It lets me know what the engine is doing, how much throttle is applied, when it shifts gears. You hear what the engine is doing without being annoying. It is just enough to feel what is going on unless you floor it. Then it lets lets you know. Did not think I would like it before I got my truck, the pipped in sound. Now, I love it for letting me know what she is doing.

I’ve owned 3 Tundras dating back to 2012. 2 SR 5’s and one 1794. I haven’t owned them because they had all the bells and whistles. I haven’t owned them because they were the best looking trucks. I’ve owned them because they were rock solid dependable. Oil , gas, and brakes were all I did. Put 150k+ miles on all of them. I am so sad with the current state of Tundra. Now I’m just wandering the truck landscape trying to find my way. Just my 2 cents…

My 23 Capstone had the same problem with the seat extender. At first I had read that if you turn off the heated and or cooling seats that it will work. It actually did work…like twice, then stopped. I ended up having to have the dealer (Runnemede, NJ) have to order and replace the seat frame. Whether that was the problem or not, I may never know, but months later it still works as intended.

I’d like to say my 2011 platinum with 202,000 miles has a great JBL sound system. The subwoofer hits really good and the highs are crisp for how old the truck is. Enjoy watching your videos and like the 3rd gen’s but think I’ll still upgrade to a 20 or 21 5.7 when I’m ready.

I saw the Tacoma trd offroad in the neighborhood this week. Real steel bumpers. Recovery hooks front and rear. Reaaly nice looking inside and out.. I wish Tundra team had taken queues from the direction tacoma ended up as.
You'll be replacing the seat and radio nob soon. 😊
Hybrid not a fan. No under seat storage. No increase in mileage. Costs more. Adds 500ish pounds of weight. Adds complexity.
    Why?
JBL is not that great, better systems on some of the others.
SR5s are plasticity. Platinum and 1794 are nice, worth the money if you can swing it.
Agree with you, floor mats are a joke.

Well I finally did the trade. I traded my 22 limited trdoffroad with 55k for an exact truck I've wanted. Got me a 2024 lunar rock limited trdoffroad with no pano, (I'm good with out it) it has premium power package, ( which was the main option I wanted, mainly for the bed power outlet), so I got it for 8k off msrp, I couldn't pass it up. still hard to believe that i actually have the exact truck that I have always wanted. Also want to say it's a night day from my first run 2022 to this late 2024 on terms of build quality. No rattles, whole truck seems so much more solid, even the steering wheel material is different, the gear selector seems more solid, and for some reasons the jbl in this truck seems better too. Anyways, I'm very happy l, I'm very impressed that toyota improves build quality. Glad you got what you wanted and truck does look great too.

I've had that front leg motor issue "fixed" on my 1794... didn't fix it. I did find since, playing with it, it works off and on. What I did find, is it doesn't seem to be aligning when it goes to the "home" (all in) position- what I did find, is it works more reliably if you leave it out just a smidge from all the way in (home). I looked under, and it seems the motor /shaft, moves out of alignment when it's home. (Love my 1794! )

Man the energy in this comment section is wild... Anyone have experience in the 3rd gen in the snow? Wondering if missing 4WD Auto is a big deal or not. One thing that the 3rd Gen does not get enough credit for is the safety scores. Have a two little girls and i believe the 3rd gen is the safest truck on the road so we may be in the market for a 2025. To me, the safety of the 3rd gen is a bigger benefit than the reliability of the 2nd. Will probably get an extended warranty for peace of mind.

I also have issues with The lamber leg support extension. There is a plastic washer in the motor component that is a cheap material, and it will keep breaking even if you get another motor. My seat extender stopped working, too. I was going to get it fixed, but then got the first recall, which was a temporary fix. I thought..no. not going in for them to tear apart things twice just to get the final fix done. Year later... I just got the call that all parts are in. I've had the truck two years now and realiz I've been trained not to use the seat extender. Point is, I went this long without it and paid for it...sucks.
Also, check your alignment before it's to late. I realized my front tire badly wore in the inside just after 12k but it was to late. Tire warranty ran up after 12k. Also, my android worked for a little bit then stopped. I paid for services but android don't connect.

Once again, great vid. Hey, its Ron from Va. here. Reminder: I have a 2023 red tundra limited with the off-road package and we are extremely in love with it. I am personally enamored with the idea of having the blue accent lighting in the cab at night. Does yours have that? Blue accent lights in the doors and under the dash. I don't know why i love that so much buy i wish we had it. We will probably trade out of this one in 2 more years and i want the 1794 brown leather interior ... always been my desire to have one but, i have to have that blue accent light package. Only problem we have had is the plastic trim piece on the driver's seat has broken twice now. The last one that broke is the updated one too and it still cracked and broke in only 4000 miles. Love your truck bro and if you have the blue light package inside, could you do a night snip it video of what they look like with that brown leather? That would be so great. WHY WHY WHY! didn't they JUST add a turbo to the 5.7L V8! Simple effective solution. Truck guys, MEN I mean, don't want a V6. We want roaring V8's. I'm seeing TOY has recalled their new V6 motors. Swaps are the fix? Yikes. On a positive note, I am glad TOY addressed their terrible Payload. The new GEN has better Payload.
