- 1966 song by Melbourne teenage rock'n'roll group The Moods. 'Rum Drunk' is an Aussie beat/garage classic. It was released on the HMV label & I'm looking for a copy if anyone has one to sell. See my youtube for a clip of another Moods song 'Say Hello To Me'.
You can also read more about the Moods if you get hold of a copy of 'The Livin' End' vol 2 which was published in 1984.
Members were Peter Noss (bass), Kevin Fraser (vocals), John Livi (guitar & songwriter), Carl Savona (drums) & Mick Hamilton (rhythm guitar). They were pretty young; John Livi was just 15 when they recorded their 45s.
I bought this single in '66, still play it, still drink rum!
One of the best Australian beat songs ever! Always a great one to dance too!

Like you I remember the Moods from the Stones concert at the Palais in St Kilda, I bought a single of theirs "Cause of you" not long after. From memory the ticket price for the concert was 13/6 ($1.35). Finding the Moods on UA-cam is brilliant.
Always one of my favorite 60s tunes, it rocks!
I had a hunch this might be a rocking tune just by the title alone and I was not disappointed
