Never understood why the plates aren't issued directly by the DVLA, using embossed steel or alloy blanks.

It's illegal to place the number plate behind the windscreen.
You can have it anywhere on the front providing its vertical, not behind glass and can be read by a camera.
Cops just don't bother with stopping people with illegal plates.
There was a cop video site on facebook who put up a video of them stopping a speeding driver, they claimed he was stopped and fined for speeding, I made a comment if they had done him for the illegal number plate, the cop said there was nothing wrong with it, when I stated that the digits were not placed properly and there was no suppliers name on the plate the cop replied that giving him a speeding ticket was punishment enough, in other words he didn't know the requlations even tho it was a traffic cop that pulled the speeder or he just couldn't be arsed.

Dark tinted side windows and driving in gloomy conditions with only front lights on is far more of a hazard today , normally see black cars that seem to delight in being as much as a silhouette as possible.
You have far more important stuff to do than worry about this. How about investigating crime instead of this.

Good video. You see loads of cars with illegal plates every time you venture out on the roads. Unless its a proper correctly spaced personalised plate they should all get fined and the plate withdrawn. Cops do nothing to stop it in my area. I saw one last week in italics , 3d, wrong font, and a Liverpool FC badge on it. How the hell do they get away with it?
Illegal plates are way too common, always see them on Land Rovers especially.

Here in Dorset, I see offending plates - usually on the same familiar vehicles in my neighbourhood - on a regular basis. If I see them, so do Dorset Police. What do the police do about them? Precisely nothing, of course. What is the point of having regulations if smug car-owners continually get away with their breaches?
Incorrect spacing of letters and numerals is an MOT failure. Over the years as an MOT tester you won't believe the number of car owners who couldn't or wouldn't accept this. Clowns.
illegal plates must be legal as there are that many and police never bother with them ....
Curious on the purpose of your video. If you are passing it to the police to action, they wont do anything. The people displaying these plates know they are illegal, so you wont change their view. If they do get stopped by the police, they will be given a short time (14 days I think), to change them and report back to the police. Which they may do, and then put the illegal plate back on again. There is someone close to me who had had one of these mis represented 4D plates for about 5 years, and never been stopped once. So there is no deterrent.

Plates should be issued to a person for life, not a vehicle, loss your plate, loss the right to be on the road.

In reply to a recent comment regarding 'personal' plates, you have to set the rules somewhere, otherwise the 'cool' brigade will go further and further with personalisation so that no-one (or cameras) will be able to make head or tail of them. They are a legal marking after all, so they should be more strictly controlled. If there is anything laughable about this, it's how the police turn a total blind eye to millions of illegal plates that are being paraded around the country every day.

Do these videos genuinely result in a ticket? I hope so, as you see so many people covering up or altering their plates it is ridiculous.
TOTALLY agree with the channel, UNFORTUNATELY, we need A police force, we currently don`t have 1 , i`ve seen people parked on zig zags on zebra crossing, saw a police car going by, pulled him over and his response was.... "nothing to do with us mate, tell a TRAFFIC WARDEN " i kid you not, and NO, they were NOT on a shout................

There’s someone in my town who parks his car 50 metres from the police station. The illegal plate, which has been in the vehicle for at least 2 years, is in full of the police every day. The police do nothing.
Can I have therefore a plate with 50D OFF please or L3D Z3P?

there won't be any doubt (your first 40 seconds) as the person making the plates will know the format. It's the buyers who are specifically asking the maker to alter the format .'. there's no need for anyone to look on the website. unless they are trying to see how they can manipulate the regulations

The rest of them are perfectly clear, correct colours, correct fonts, just a space here and there.

Changing the spacing of a number plate does not make it any harder to read for either the human eye or ANPR cameras. It's literally the most BS rule. Im all for fining people who use dots to alter digits or use a totally different font or colour but changing the positioning of the spaces??? 😂 Please give me a logical reason why moving spaces shouldn't be allowed?
I don't know why they don't just crack down on the suppliers of these plates. Presumably these are the people you go to when you want to clone a car. Why can't the police do a sting operation, order an illegal plate, find out where it came from, raid the premises, convict them and put them out of business.

The DVLA can, and sometimes do, remove the right to use a number and issue the vehicle with a non-removable 'Q' plate. That is about the quickest way to halve the value of your car.
Very quick to tell you your number plate is positioned wrong but when your house gets burgled the police are nowhere to be seen.

Altering plates is done by r soles who are thick so deserve the harsher penalty.

the registration number has been altered by adding black dots in between numbers making them into an ALPHABET LETTER

Im new to your channel. Sorry for your loss. Most of the time I dont see what they are trying to spell with these illegal number plates. Some people say its a victimless crime like that makes it ok but theres a victim if the car is involved in a hit and run and ANPR cant read the plate.

I am an mot tester and my pet fail is people bring in cars that have number plates made to look like a name or whatever, it is a registration plate not a name or I am a knob plate

MANY PEOPLE ARE UNAWARE OF THIS.
It would be considerate and effective for police to stop the vehicle, explain, issue a warning to correct the plates within 24/48 hours, advise that the vehicle would be noted and if spotted again on a public road, and the plates are not rectified legal action would follow.
Correcting plates is the cheapest option.
I remember a guy in Norfolk years ago who had plates marked R PR10R.

Thats been a jobsworth. Driving offences are one thing but if the letters of the number plate can be clearly read i dont see why the spacing is a problem. Just another money spinner.

A car with it's number plate letters arranged to spell the owner's name, often used to visit a property near me, owned by a serving police officer. The number plate was clearly illegal, with incorrect letter spacings and a hologram effect on the plate itself. You would have thought the police officer himself would have pointed out the illegality of the plate. But I suspect the car was owned by a close relative of his....... Just recently though, I have noticed the car has what appear to be new plates, with the correct spacing between the letters and numbers. It clearly wasn't going to pass it's MOT as it was.... All this personalised number plate nonsense should cease, and instead you ought to be issued with a number plate at the time you pass your driving test, and the plate stays with you, and is moved to any further car you may own.....
Thats a joke nobody gets fined or stopped i see it all the time. Spaced out numbers , fitted wrong, size of plate , different plates on trailers to vehicle plate and so on , what they really ought to clamp down hard on is people uding mobile phones whilst driving

Well I will swim against the tide,if a plate can be read by the cameras then the police and the DVLA should concentrate on more serious problems,about time that catch all in the rules should be removed.

i just don't get it, the plates can still be easily read - and picked up by cameras - so why not have a personalised one? they look way cooler and are more easily identifiable so i'm all for it, can't believe there is actually a UA-cam channel dedicated to trying to stop people having them it's absolutely hilarious
These aren't personal plates, they are mickey mouse attempts by those who either don't have the money or are too mean to buy a proper personalised plate as well as a distraction to other road users. My 4 personalised plates are all legal and very distinctive, most weren't expensive.

1984 again from coppers a word themed reg plate is easy to remember, this is like ULEZ And face recognition 1984 .
For front plates you could probably get away with having the main plate legally spaced and mounted in the middle with a show plate with different spacing in the window. Or have a sticker on the corner of the bumper with the legal plate in the center with correct spaces etc
