Thanks for watching Nature League!
Did a cross country drive from New York to Seattle to San Diego to Miami and back to New York in December 2016. One of the most spectacular portions of that trip was driving into Missoula at about 2 am after it had snowed. It was breathtaking... I must return!
Yay! The word of the week explanation made me so happy. Thanks for the lesson!
There are just TOO many cool places to live! Thanks for the tour, Brit!
As an ecologist, I am so excited about this show. And as a Nerdfighter raised on nature documentaries, I'm STOKED to see a Complexly show (beyond Animal Wonders) getting out of the studio!
I absolutely LOVE the field trip angle. It's amazing to be able to showcase all of the natural beauty there ~
So cool that your in Missoula! I will be going to UM in a couple years for wildlife biology. I met Chad Bishop head of UM's Wildlife Biology program a couple weeks ago during UM days and he mention you and I told how I watch you on scishow and nature league.
I think it's so cool that you have a similar background to me (although in reverse, I guess) - I started out as an environmental educator, and now I'm getting my advanced degrees in ecology! Glad to find more people like us who both want to do the science and share it with the world!
Your etymology for "ecology" was really awesome. I am all about the intersection and connection of humans and the natural environment. Also love the field trip format!
I came here from hank green's twitter and, as always, i'm not disappointed. Suscribed!! Can't wait for the next lesson.
I love Montana Missoula, from new Zealand... Issy guise from Dunedin (otago).Big hello to Mary Yoder... Miss you a lot.
Fantastic Tour..♥️🇺🇸
Newcomer, looking forward to watching all vids. greetings from greece!
I wonder how much of Missoula's gdp is from nerdfighter companies
Also, love the new channel, Brit is always great, love learning more about both her and Montana
Missoula should thank you for this awesome bit of advert. You really sold me on the place. looks lovely.
Awesome!! Can't wait for more!!
Great video! We loved visiting Missoula on the way to Glacier -- really enjoyed learning a lot more about the city from your video
Love the etymology and info about the lines on the mountains! I looked up Missoula and it looks like flathead lake is on an indian reservation too! I be the native americans there have a lot of interesting insights about the nature they have lived in longer than we have!
Only the southern part of the lake is on the res.
Florida to Montana... wow what a contrast!
I am so excited about this channel! I am about to go to college (sadly probably not in MT :/) but once I graduate I am 100% moving to Montana! I look forward to learning more about nature, especially up in the northern Rockies.
Just don't try and change it so it's like California. Leave Montana alone!
Love love love it
Brit, I teach 7th grade biology in Powell, Wyoming and I grew up in Missoula. We talk about a lot of things your videos are showcasing. Is there a way we could collaborate on a video of some sort? I think the kids would go crazy on a project like that. Great channel.
Sorry it took so long to respond, but yes, I have a few project ideas for K-12 collaborations and would love to chat. Send me a direct message on Twitter @BritGarner or @Nature_League and we can go from there :)
im working on my wildlife biology degree here in Florida. i lived in Missoula for a year back in high school and cant wait to move back !
Love yours! From Portugal a Big Hug for all the people of Mountana!
Very informative video! Thanks so much for the content. I grew up spending half my summers in Missoula, I love it so much and thank you for bringing its lovey unique character to life!!
Love the field trip idea. More more more!
I'm from South Tyrol (Italy) and one day I would like to move to Missoula and settle there!!!
Missoula looks beautiful! So excited that I'll study ENVS at the University there!!!
MSU is far better
Thank you for uploading greetings from Chicago 😎
To those who watched this, keep in mind that Missoula is like a bit of San Fransisco, only in the state of Montana. The rest of Montana is quite conservative except for the town of Hot Springs but that is only because "Hot Springs is just a territory of the state of Missoula."
Quote from Monte Turner !
Anyone wanting to move here should line up a job before you get here or bring your own job with you if you can. Even with the economy running strong across the country, jobs are hard to get and don't pay well here. So many people working in the service sector with useless collage degrees.
Living in Billings, been thinking about moving to Missoula. I only work low paid service jobs anyways, so I'll be fine.
I’ve always wanted to go to Missoula! It’s on my list!
Would you guys consider doing a field trip to Choteau/Rocky Mountain Front ecology? We'd love to host you!
I live in western Washington, so close to Montana. My town, yelm, has less than 9,000 which is too many people for me lol. Id love to visit Montana. But maybe in late spring. I'm not a fan of Snow. snow is rare in western Washington. I'm not used to and don't want to get used to it lol
So cool! I am from Eastern Washington!
Ha ha. I bet you guys have gotten a lot of snow this year
To be honest, I searched this up because I want to know where is this Missoula where half of Crash Course videos were recorded in. I'm very surprise to see that this place is so pretty, thanks.
Love that sweatshirt, still wish I'd known about it when it was on sale.
Thank you so much for making this video! I’m a grad from UF in geophysics, but want to continue my grad in wildlife conservation ecology, and am contemplating Missoula, Whitefish or Kalispell, currently in Bend, OR. If we were to meet, let our nerdome rome 🤗🎉
So refreshing to see content on UA-cam that isn’t drowning in puerile catchphrases and internet-speak. Thank you. Good job.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy!! I'm so giddy about all the places we can go together.
I had no idea about the etymology of the word ecology! Very cool :)
wow! I can't wait! this channel is going to be epic! and who doesn't love Brit?! :D she is the best
so excited for this channel!
Missoula Montana has the largest Hispanic population in Montana. I love that more Hispanics are moving in. More taco stands are popping up and they are starting to have a voice in local government.
I live in Missoula Montana! :3
Thanks!
Saw you with Dr Doe and looked up your UA-cam site. Looks like fun and interesting stuff so I subscribed !! So lead on!!! Looking forward to following this.
Loving the different angles of the show. You go girl!
I'm really excited about this channel!
Holy cow I love this channel! Thank you for sharing.
You are such an amazing teacher.
Cheers! -Brit
I've lived in Missoula off and on now since the mid 80s, with continuous stretches of residency as long as 10-years, and quite honestly, it's no better or worse than any other place in the intermountain west, but there are a number of things people should know. The sun RARELY shines here, VERY rarely, and winters, are far-far longer than most people are will to recognize or admit. True summer, can only be found here in July and August. That's it! September brings fall, and winter typically lasts from October through May, bounded on both sides by rain and perpetually grey skies. The availability of both housing and jobs is atrocious, and the median priced home is WAY beyond the reach of most wage-earners or even many salaried professionals. Politically speaking, it's a college town, with 85-90% of the communities revenue stream coming directly or indirectly from student loan money, period! So it is populated largely by young, liberal, woke, indoctrinated, unsophisticated, shallow-minded, y- and z-gener neo-Marxists.
Fun Smart beautiful. Thanks.
me and my wife wan a move to Montana countryside but wanna start out in the suburbs. Were from a pretty rural place in Alabama in a town with a relatively same size pop of Missoula. If anyone has ideas for me to look at itd be MUCH appreciated
Hi Britt, nice place you've got there! How is the people of Missoula? Are they nice to foreigners?
I am from Missoula Montana and now I live in Edinboro Pa.
Woohoo missoula! Such a beautiful area, and I never knew the rock striations were from wave patterns-so cool :)
The striations are not in rock, they are in the soil of the hillsides.
I call them Bath tub rings.
that's a great beanie
I have had that sweatshirt on my Amazon wish list for like 2 years! Haha
i am running an rpg campaign where the players are going to missoula in the next game. this is sooooo gonna help.
Lmao are you serious? That's amazing.
Naiadryade yep yep. The game is scion, if you care about that sort of thing. I'd tell you more, but I am afraid you might find it super boring.
No no, I play D&D/Pathfinder twice a week, please tell me more. I'm fascinated that you're setting it in a real world place, let alone Missoula! Way to hardcore Nerdfighter.
so, scion is basically american gods the rpg, its set in the real world. the characters play the children of gods as they grow from hero to demigod to godhood. and they fight against the titans. theres a bunch of pantheons and stuff and it's pretty fun. the players are all of the greek pantheon. basically since its starting i gave them labors to do (like hercules) and their first mission was to kill a giant lion in south dakota. now they are in nyc trying to clean times square (it used to have a stable in there). in the larger plot, they are working with three persian gods that are archeologists in the university of montana where they found traces to a temple in yellowstone that the old atlantean pantheon created (this is a bit of metaplot, since those gods never existed in folklore) near the super volcano that works as an entrance to where the titans are trapped and trying to escape. it has a bit of steven universe (the titan's children, or titanspawn are kinda like the corrupted gems, if you know that show) and the all that. they also found golden apples too and befriended kokopelli. oh and one of the best characters is the oracle of missoula, who basically is a crazy old man that eats mushrooms to tell the future. the mushrooms are portobello. he is not very smart.
oh yeah, the characters are:
a sniper for the war of afghanistan who died in combat and was brought back to live and adopted by athena.
a young pro wrestler from ohio, son of apollo.
and an italian american kid from queens whose parents prayed to hephaestus and he created the child in a forge.
Any sightings of Sasquatch there?
Love to live there. Thx for the vid
Great video!
Sweeeeeet . Learned a new word "ecology " had no idea . Done learnt me somethin. ; )

This is crazy she lived in Wilmington where I live now and she lives in Missoula where i used to live
We traded! -Brit
Love the show! Can you operate a drone? ;)
There’s an idea!
Time for a quadcopter!!
Maybe you should enlist the help of Synema Studios for that!
I want to move to Missoula soooo bad, but I have no idea how to do it. I have no idea of the job market ot housing/Apt. Climate. If anyone has any help please please contact me, PLEASE!!!
Always weird and fun to see where I live, featured in a video.
Holy Shit! Didn't know you had this new channel. Cool shit. Looking forward to catching up.
loved thisssss
I live here
Missoula Montana is a "Field Trip" !
Firstly, I love this already! Excited to see how this show will develop :) However, Gryffindor or Ravenclaw? xD Jumper colours say Gryffindor but I get Ravenclaw vibes :P
?? why were you the host for scishow psych? You did amazing! and it's one of the reasons I decided to try this series but? your expertise has nothing to do with psychology?
My mom has a PhD in developmental psychology, and I grew up with a great respect for the topic. She is a community college professor of psychology now, and my expertise in genetics gives us great conversation topics for the new interfaces between genetics and psychology (and epigenetics!). Suffice to say, I stay current on the psych literature and have a personal connection to it :)
Oh cool! I totally get that I have a similar relationship with engineering since my dad has a phd in nuclear engineering and raised me with a love of engineering itself. Thanks for answering my question and good luck with hosting this new show I'm sure you'll do amazing with it! and I'm really excited about it cause animals are the best things ever! ^_^
Missoula city is full of out of state hippies now
Missoula mountains and rivers can’t be beat though 😎
Ok Im moving to Missoula but coron
❤
I'm sure Satriano would be proud
...this made my day
Montana - a great place to watch sharks (not!). Having lived in Florida myself, then moving to a state with winter, I lasted exactly one year before moving to Nevada. But if you like it, go for it.
Home.
Put me on 40 acres with my own spring water supply and lots of good firewood.
how has no one mentioned her harry potter sweater yet??
Who is here because of Žižek story about Indians?
was thinking to retired there!
I know this video is a little older. How is the crime there? I keep hearing its terrible.
How about I take that home cause I’m jelly wait fl.. YOUR FROM HELL O SHIEET I LOVE MONTANA BUT MY 6 MONTHS SUCKED
I have lived in Missoula for over 10 years and I can tell you this video is only showing you the good things about Montana especially Missoula which is wildlife and nature the people in this town are two-faced smiley faces they think they're the best people on Earth they think missoula's best place on Earth they think they're invincible because they carry guns and their bigoted that is the truth about Montana especially about Missoula I know Montana Missoula may seem like this great place because it's so far away and it's nature is good but as the old saying says appearances can be deceiving
Well every place has it's draw back. I've visted Missoula several times and plan on going to UM. It reminds me so much of the town I live in and have grown up in.
This has very little to do with Life in Montana as most people would understand it.
Far cry, anyone?
So whats all the symbolism mean on your sweater? You support "secret" societies or you just wear it because you like it? Just curious, thanks.
My god this woman is irritating! Please have her removed from my great state!
what part of Montana has the lowest population of libtards?
Nothing about life there, just a grammar lesson
