Great video…I love Q as a company, but the pricing is a bit steep on most of their products. I say that for all aside from the Fix lineup. Those are some of the best bolt guns I’ve shot. That 45 throw feels incredible.
With the 1/5 twist you might try some Lehigh or some other monolithic. My understanding is the two downsides with faster twists are A) highlighting the inconsistencies in cup and core bullets and B) at faster speeds it can be enough RPM’s to actually spin the bullet apart. They make monolithic bullets almost a necessity. Also I can only imagine how much more significant an extreme spread of 25 ft/sec would be on an initial velocity of 1050 ft/sec vs a 2750 ft/sec cartridge.
I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. $4K. Very limited production. Not great accuracy. Rediculous buttpad. It's quiet. Next level cool looking lightweight rifle. And I still do not get the whole '300 Blackout' platform. Great review! Anybody that wants one will know exactly what they're getting. Thanks Ray!!
I love Q I have almost every can and rifle except the boom box and Porq and short chop and I love the Atlas bipod and on the miniFix adding an Atlas monopod to the bottom of the stock is an extremely sturdy platform to get consistent shot placement I do love the kickstand on my regular fix too.
I had my eye on this Mini FIX SD SBR for a while now. Just hasn't pulled the trigger yet because of the ATF 1 year wait time. Plus, I already have the B&T SPR300 Pro (still waiting on the ATF on the suppressor, another 4 months to go for a 1-year wait). Looking forward to your comparison between them. I think the B&T will come out ahead. Just my opinion. Great video as always.
I’ve had a regular mini-fix for a while that I sent in a form 1 on. It’s a really fun rifle to shoot and amazingly light. Also you’re right they perfected the folding stock. It really does feel solid. The barrel is really easy to change as well and Proof Research makes good ones so you’re not limited to 300 Blackout.
I would love to own one of these but for that kinda $$$ I just feel it should shoot better than it did. And yes I understand the POU of 300 blk and also would like to see you do 100 yd groups with a 110 Barnes or the 120 Barnes for us hunters. Thank Ray for the great video and hopefully you’ll shoot some lite supers in the next video.
I'm a left so I ordered an upper receiver from Uintah Precision in 300 blkout and it fits on my AR-15 lower. At 100 yds it can shoot a one ragged hole, it's the poor man's mini fix.

Soooooooooooooooo.... weeeeeeeellllllllllllllllllll.... Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... Excellent review! Seriously, your content is second to none. Beautifully designed rifle, and i absolutely love the complete package. If it was 1200-1500 I'd be on board. For 4k with good ammo it had better kill that fly at 50 every time. Thank you Sir
Haven't seen it heard of anyone figuring out how to make 300BO any better than a 1.5-2" gun. Most will hold 3" or so... Great looking rifle and hard to find much quieter....
They really make amazing rifles but the cost of this (especially double stamped) is just such a huge issue for a round (not known for extreme accuracy) and for CQB as a bolt gun. Still love that they keep presenting well built rifles.
I ABSOLUTELY love this video, the rifle is cool yes BUT I just have this thing for 300 blackout. You can hear the rounds hitting the backstop just as good as the round going of, that just tickles me to death. I may feel a 300Blackout Challenge coming about lol, at our club there was so many 300 Blackout shooters we use to launch 220gr subsonic at 200 yards at playing cards to see how many you could land. This is awesome great content. I have some of my own personal loads that would and has grouped well at 500.
That’s a no for me. I used a 7.5” Springfield Saint, swapped a 8.5” 300blk barrel with an Omega 300 or a Yankee Hill Resonator K. I swapped the hand guard to Aero, it’s about 9”. Suppressors are recessed to keep the build small for a backpack gun or truck gun. Far cheaper and very solid on accuracy. I also used the Fiochi 220 grain and had better accuracy shooting off of a backpack. Q is cool, but I think there are better options.
When will you release the comparison video? I was ready to pull the trigger on one but even with 300bo the accuracy you were getting surprised me & has me hesitant. Thanks for taking the time to make these.
With the group you fired at around 18:00, the two distinct groups make me suspect that the alternate feeding from the left vs right column on the mag is creating two separate groups. This can occur if the feed lips on the mag are such that the rounds are hitting the feed ramps differently from each column. Switching to a mag with a higher presentation angle could help ameliorate this (gen 3 PMAGs). I have seen this happen with old 20 rd GI mags before and maybe lancers have the same issue.
Almost seemed like it was shifting between two points there for awhile. I like this type of modern light bolt. I’ve considered the Sig too. But for the price I’d like better performance. You could get the same out of a Ruger Ranch for way less.
I’d like to see you try my ol dd5v3 ray see what you think….I’m puttin down bolt gun accuracy with mine and handloaded 175s..had bronze 18” in local shop Friday and broke my heart….I like the longer barrels and wish I had a 24” upper that’d work with dd…
