The images which have come back from Juno are simply incredible. I'm 62 now and have been into astronomy from an early age. It has been such an exciting experience to watch as spacecraft and imaging technology steadily improved over the years, from the grainly, fuzzy images of the 60s and 70s to the magnificent, high-resolution vistas we're seeing today. This is an amazing time to be alive.
I'm a young adult but like you I've been into astronomy for most of my life and this is something I can't wait for, when I'm in your position and seeing the incredible photos we'll have 40 - 60 years from now!

Stick around for a while because it's only getting better. The amount of nearby earth's means if starshot actually happens, or maybe something even better, we'll have some truly jaw dropping pictures of the local region

Mmm nasa moon pictures raw are 8GB A PICTURE they are like 24,000k images and they're old pictures but still far higher quality then cameras today

Agreed. Less is more, IMO. Alex does so much with his commentary by not adding so much fluff or watering things down too much by trying to explain technical stuff or going off on tangents. Just letting us enjoy the amazing imagery and his enjoyable narration.

It is simply a beautiful example of Human ingenuity that a tool designed for observing stars for navigation purposes was able to be used to gather extraordinary detail of the surface of another world due to it's design for low light conditions
As I get older I realize one of the best things about the sciences is that stunning new discoveries will never end. The complexity and accessibility of the universe will dole out wonders forever.
Been watching for quite some time, but I just got to say I love your enthusiasm and attention to detail. This is one of the things I love about seeing the planets and their moons, along with all the mysteries they hold. Keep doing what you do!

Watching your videos of what probes send back to Earth is a near religious experience for me. The awe I feel at those images is indescribable
Yes ❣️ It is a religious experience because all the knowledge contained in all the branches of Science bring us closer to the Creator of creation - the Lord of the Worlds - ALLAH.
Allah created all the infinite number of universes that Science has proven to us to exist , yet Allah is closer to us than our own jugular vein.
Allah was not born & neither does Allah give birth. Allah has no form & no shape that humans can perceive , Allah requires no rest nor sleep , Allah needs nothing from us but all creation in all the infinite universes need Allah for existence & survival.
We humans are eternal beings & our life on Earth is just a bleep in time. Our Earthly life is merely a Simulation of our limited 5 senses , as a means of Testing us & our realtionship with our Creator.
We are ONE Human race 💟

Jupiter is my favourite Planet and I'm so glad that we have a probe like Juno investigating it...some of the Junocam Imagery turned out to be my favourite pictures ever
My favorite is earth. After 60 years of space exploration and untold expenditure of taxpayer dollars, scientists can confidently say that the vast majority of planets in the solar system are frozen toxic waste dumps from Hell.
Although sometimes it’s obvious, sometimes it’s hard to tell which images and clips are real, and which are color edited or animations. I think a little caption at the bottom or corner alerting the viewer when what they’re looking at is or isn’t real would make for a more engaging experience!
I do always appreciate these videos though :)

I know, I can't believe it. It was one of the first missions I covered on my channel, hard to think I've been doing this for over 6 years now

Jupiter is a beloved protecting older brother to our fragile terrestrial world, simply beautiful to gaze upon and know it's been there since before Earth was even a singular body instead of asteroids.
But it's polar regions? The things we haven't had the chance to even know what they look like until the most recent millisecond of Human history? They are utterly alien compared to what all Humans picture when they think of the gigantic planet, and I think it is an honour and a pleasure we get to finally explore the mystery of that world which almost every Human who has ever existed has gazed upon the softly glowing orb in our skies.
I've been obsessed by Jupiter ever since I can remember. It's mesmerising, superb video thanks
Our Solar System truly is amazing because the most fascinating discoveries and can pop up out of nowhere!
For example we might find marine life under Europa’s icy crust, a type of alien marine species we have never thought of seeing. Like that type of discovery that we might come across
Indeed, the Solar System never ceases to amaze us. With every new discovery, it opens up a new world of possibilities and wonder.

Like the possibility of life under Europa’s and Enceladus’s icy crusts. We can study the moons of the Gas giants of our solar system and we can think of exomoons that are out there orbiting Gas giants of other star system, and they might be habitable.
I know of 2 exoplanets discovered by the Kepler space telescope. The first planet is Kepler 47c it is 4900 lightyears away from Earth, a gas giant the size of Uranus that is in the habitable zone of its star system and might have habitable exomoons, the planet is Kepler 90h a gas giant that is slightly bigger Jupiter, it is around 2500 lightyears away from Earth, and is in the habitable zone of its star system and might have habitable exomoons. Why this excited because if those exomoons potentially have oceans like the possible ones under Europa and Enceladus, then we can only imagine what the marine life might look like, it will look like unlike anything we’ve ever seen, this really excites because I will hopefully one day become a marine biologist and conservationist, and I can compare the marine life of Earth to any possible alien marine life, I mean look at the marine life in sci-fi, on the moon of Pandora from Avatar and on the planet 4546b from Subnautica, they’re truly alien and fascinating. My point is we can only imagine how alien marine life looks like
On one hand I feel lucky to be alive for these discoveries. On the other, I want to live another 1000 years to see how much more we find

Sigh…given my current age and the current state of space travel I know this is impossible but I still wish I could see Jupiter from orbit and walk on Europa. The pictures will have to do for now..

Fun fact, if there IS life on Eruopa or any of the oceans on Jupiter's moons, scientists say that any life that could exist there will very likely be much bigger than anything we've seen on earth due to the unfathomable pressure exerted beneath the ice. Fun food for thought :)
Also, if you're interested in that theory, I'd recommend watching Europa Report. It's a slow burn space horror/thriller, but it's highly worth the pay out at the end. It's one of my favorite space movies.

Highest entertainment value space channel 💯. Anton petrov an pbs both hold a candle to it, but where theyre more informative and kinda nitty gritty, you got visuals, good narration an scripting, as well as an solid consistent pace that actually grabs and then keeps attention.

I really enjoy your presentations. I ask but one favor. When images or animation are presented that are 'artist's interpretations' and not actual stills or footage, could you just throw a little chunk of text up on the screen indicating such? Amazing channel.
Jupiter's surface looks like the work of a really gifted master painter. Really awe inspiring.

What I really want to see one day though, are images of its atmosphere from inside / above with a balloon. I want to see the relief, those humongous clouds that have all the space they need to move around like ever shifting unending continents. Cloud formations on Earth are already fascinating, but they are squashed compared to what happens on Jupiter. Sadly this may be very difficult technically, and there is no plan for that in the next 20 years, which means if that ever happens, it will when I'll be very old or dead already. At least I'm confident we will do something similar on Venus in my lifetime, which is still something amazing.

One thing that I would really appreciate greatly would be a visual indication of whether the video onscreen is computer generated or real images from NASA. I'd hate to see a breathtaking time-lapse of Juno flying over Jupiter's cloud tops and write it off as computer generated. Great video man, your channel is amazing

Jupiter is such a beautiful and amazing planet. Imagine the other exotic properties that are waiting to be discovered about Jupiter's weather processes! The moons of Jupiter are also fascinating and I honestly believe that there is subsurface oceans and life in those lovely celestial objects. Thanks for the upload Astrum.

I would love to see a probe get sent right into Jupiters atmosphere, we need something that would be able to handle the extreme thermals and pressure to get a good idea of whats going on inside its atmosphere with direct readings.

Just a note. The Europa clipper mission is a NASA mission, not an ESA mission. It's an easy mistake though as ESA are also launching a mission called JUICE very soon. Which will do a couple Europa flybys, but is mostly looking at Ganymede.
In spite of all of the information you're giving me/us the only thing I could think of at 8:05 was how much Europa's surface looks like a piece of canvas with drips, lines and splatters of paint. Beautiful in it's own way. 😊

And wasn't the 2021 mission extension an extension on an extention starting back in 2018 or thereabouts when they decided to keep Juno in a higher orbit to keep getting data on the moons instead of getting closer to focus entirely on Jupiter or something to that effect?
