Slight difference, my ass; you’ve completely transformed this, no more wrong chester cheese orange skin tone. Had the same idea, but dreaded the idea of painting the headband.
Lol I appreciate it. The cheese skin tone was the only thing bad about the figure. It wasn't too hard to repaint the headband, I don't have the steadiest hands and still managed to do it.
Also the brown gloves just makes it true to the street fighter 2 Ryu

I actually had been thinking about doing this exact same mod but was holding off because I didn't think the difference would be worth tracking down the slightly more expensive player 2 figure. But after watching your video I can see it would be totally worth it! Thanks for making this available.

Nicely done. I remember when I first started kitbashing and customizing figures and was nervous as hell also. Plastic has some great ability to return to its original format and shape after it cools down. Keep up the good work and sharing.

Definitely a upgrade. Im wondering if you could soak that head in hot water & then remove the top of the hair piece. That would make painting the headband a little easier.
Hmmm I haven't tried it. You probably can, but the hair is stuck in there pretty tightly.
It might be a bit of a hassle to remove the entire hair piece rather than just painting under it.

Thank you for this. I saw a kitbash of this on Instagram and it gave Ryu brown hair. Which adds another layer of depth to the figure.
That's a great idea! Definitely need to had some brown highlights to the hair.
This should've been what Ryu looks like before Jada released the original. Looks more like the anime/game in my opinion.

I wonder if I should hold off on doing this to see if jada does a next level exclusive ryu with the pmx skin- if not though, this will be easy enough. Did you seal the red paint? If not how is it holding up at the drawstrings?
I haven't sealed the paint just yet. Someone suggested I dry brush brown highlights over the hair. I'm going to do that before I seal it.
So far, unsealed, the paint hasnt chipped off yet, but yeah it's probably best I seal it soon.

@BoArtTakeOver I prefer using mr super clear matte as a sealant. It's really good but it is a little pricey for the amount in the can. I've been experimenting with cheaper alternatives like krylon sealant, it works well but I've only sealed like 2 figures with it
The results are nice.
I kind of wish you went a little bit further with the paint.
Maybe a dry brushing of brown on the hair and gloves.

What kind of brush did you use?
I want to say the brush was a "0" to paint under the headband.

Looks great, but I prefer his gloves to be red as well, I wish they rereleased his figure with original colors, but this new skin tone, as I'm too lazy for such mods and can't paint lol.
Modding and painting wasn't too bad. But yeah I get it, I wouldn't be surprised if they do re release it with the color corrections. I was too impatient for that tho lol
IMO I would just paint the player 2 figures uniform, guntlets, and bandanna. Way easier but then again he’s supposed to be orangie he’s an 8bit character
It was WAY too much work...he has red paint in his hair now....as for the "Orange" skin...Japanese people dye their hair all sords of colors...maybe Ryu gets his summer tan at the beach😊
