@jessicabeam2007 100% agree with you. I remember hearing this back in 2007 for the first time and immediately bought the UK version of StS just to own the song.
i just love finding new stuff i havent heard yet from afi. especially when the new stuff is their old harder to find stuff. ill probably never stop listening to them.
@skater13sean The chorus to this version goes: "I looked inside, (I) To find, (Wanted) The one I sent away. (To excoriate)...." instead of "(I wanted to insinuate)"
@Honeyluvscake yea I totally noticed this too, it really clashes in the "this summer created those words" bit. But the guy has such an accurate voice the rest of the time that i can only presume it to be deliberate and holds some deeper meaning.
They did it was on the 336ep and the Girls not Grey single. They were never meant to be part of an album. All their albums beyond their original punk stuff tell a story. These have their place where the band put them
yeah in the other version during the chorus davey instead says "I wanted this excoriation. I thrive on this self mutilation." Also there's more background seeking like when he says "You gave the dark to me" the rest of the band echoes it. There's probably more but those are what i first noticed listening to this version.
@XtayXXbaybeeX14 Huh? How can a file sharing site be legal? I'm not saying it's impossible but I'm curious since authorities has made such a huge deal of proclaiming all file sharing (esp. music) 100% illegal.
@JadePugetRox Totally agree. If he were to ever write a book, I'm 99% certain that Im gonna read it all in one go, no matter the number of pages :P Please, Davey, write a book already !!!
@knivesandforks Yeah, it creates a dissonance in the music that's usually associated with tension. The tension and release makes you hold on through the dissonant bits and makes the harmonies that much sweeter to the ear. *points at self* Music nerd. :)
The original demo version is much more satisfying to me.This just doesn't do it. It's too radio ready I think.Or maybe because I've been listening to the original for the past 6 or 7 years.
ummm i think you should stop misinforming people and lying about knowing former band members.... which one are you claiming to know?? You're completely wrong about almost everything you wrote. They broke up after they all graduated high school and got back together after a reunion show in like 93... Hunter joined during the end of the Very Proud Of Ya tour.. and Jade didn't join until 98.. so yeah... i think blackadder733 was telling you to stop because your information was all wrong lol
The sound of this song is like a mixture of the Art of Drowning style with Sing the Sorrow style. It's really cool
I think it was supposed to be on a B side of STS? Maybe?
@@weapon4137 it was, you can tell by the drum sound. But it also has the feel of art of drowning to the verses
It was definitely “released” during that time frame… meaning it appeared on the internet. Not sure of circumstances though.
"I've Been a Lonely One, I've Had This Whole World Drained From Me."
All of AFI's hidden tracks, bonuses, and b-sides kick major ass! This song is balls to the wall!
AFI will always be my all time favorite band
Jxohn MkKue Same!
Most definitely same
Mine too except for all the records after STS
Me too 😀 since I was 12 years old (now im 30)
@@killerwacha I wish they broke up in 2003 lol
Still one of my favorite AFI songs. This and Reivers Music. I feel like they are such underrated songs!
@jessicabeam2007 100% agree with you. I remember hearing this back in 2007 for the first time and immediately bought the UK version of StS just to own the song.
Sing the sorrow with now the world, reivers music, and synesthesia is such an amazing album.
Both versions of the chorus are lit and I have to listen the song twice everytime... Worth it
Still my favorite Bside from them. This song should have been on the album.
Maybe the only band since the Cure who can so amazingly meld pitch dark romantic imagery with pop hooks
This is one of my absolute favorite songs. So much raw emotion and amazingly contrived lyrics.
Nothing else compares.
My favorite AFI song
Michael O'Malley Same!
Been my favorite band since 2006 love every song they've ever had this will always be my favorite band
I thought the same... then Burials happened
Lilith Flowers Yeah I know I wasn't a fan of that album. I like their new song though white offerings.
I remember getting a DL code for this song with the pre-order for the album. Easily one of their best songs from those sessions.
What a great great song with wonderful poetic lyrics!
Thanks so much for this video❣️🔥🔥🍁🍁
i just love finding new stuff i havent heard yet from afi. especially when the new stuff is their old harder to find stuff. ill probably never stop listening to them.
This is the best song by Afi. Beautiful.
Absolutely Gorgeous
my absolute favorite band ever been a fan since answer that and stay fasionable and will always be a fan
Daveys lyrics cut deeper than a knife.
Agreed, forever will and always have :))
Waitaminute? Didnt Bryan Adams cut like a knife? 😂
Definitely a masterpiece showpiecing the true passion behind A Fire Inside.
♥ AFI♥
Davey should write a book, this is beautiful, he would make an amazing author.
I think he did in the meantime since your comment! :)
Asha Nurzyński You’re right! He’s actually written 2!
@@coreyjones7062 are they good?
He was an English Lit major
It's between this and Reiver's Music as probably the best and most defining AFI song.
Agreed
"Oh."
Fucking deep
2022,Afi,i listening both of their classic and new,of course
@skater13sean
The chorus to this version goes:
"I looked inside, (I) To find, (Wanted)
The one I sent away. (To excoriate)...."
instead of "(I wanted to insinuate)"
Thanks again for your all dancing
Heeeeeeeeell Yeah!!
Love this song man 🤘 🤘 🤘
I love this song, it's so delicate
why didnt afi put this song in any of their albums?! soooooooo good!
I think this is kinda AFI's turning point. The defining moment that lead them to write sing the sorrow and eventually decemeberunderground.
omg this song...flawless
I think they were referring to the chorus. Instead of "insinuate" it is most likely "excoriate" so in all actuality it is 99.9% correct.
I L O V E this song...like whoa.
In my top 5 favorite AFI songs.
@HalenCross i agree! no wonder he was an english major at uc berkeley before he devited himself full time to afi!
amazing writer!
Love this song
2024 and it still hits
Those lyrics ... whoa
muito bom !!!!!!!!!
Shame this masterpiece isn't on apple music 😭
@FroylanRuiz1 It was a bonus track on the UK Version of STS and I'm fairly sure a B-side on one of the singles everywhere else.
@Honeyluvscake yea I totally noticed this too, it really clashes in the "this summer created those words" bit. But the guy has such an accurate voice the rest of the time that i can only presume it to be deliberate and holds some deeper meaning.
that is adorable
I have both versions of this song: Sing The Sorrow [UK version] and Girls not Grey [UK version 2]. Love the 336 version!
They did it was on the 336ep and the Girls not Grey single. They were never meant to be part of an album. All their albums beyond their original punk stuff tell a story. These have their place where the band put them
I hate the fact that this song is no longer available to purchase anywhere.
I have this 7"
the lyrics are partially incorrect near 3:13
Yeah, my favourite part too. :D
I was just going to say the same!
i LOVE this fucking song.
yeah in the other version during the chorus davey instead says "I wanted this excoriation. I thrive on this self mutilation."
Also there's more background seeking like when he says "You gave the dark to me" the rest of the band echoes it.
There's probably more but those are what i first noticed listening to this version.
Wow, you sound smart. *sarcastic voice*
LOVE IT!LOVE IT!LOVE IT! :d:D:D
2022,Afi,афі
Cheers days pheonix thunder
@killer600000 Because the Crow is a bad ass film, and this is a bad ass song.
@XtayXXbaybeeX14

Please, Davey, write a book already !!!
hmm this is not too bad.
i think i prefer the 336 version, but i like this one quite a bit as well
I like the 336 ep version a lot better. but this one is good too
@knivesandforks Yeah, it creates a dissonance in the music that's usually associated with tension. The tension and release makes you hold on through the dissonant bits and makes the harmonies that much sweeter to the ear. *points at self* Music nerd. :)
"Now,the world",
What album is this from?
this is 100%
Where part do i have wrong?
@omgpurplemangos101 It's on the UK version of Sing The Sorrow only. It can't be purchased. Really sucks, doesn't it? =/
damn this is the demo version!
Why does this song remind me of The Crow movie?
❤️❤️❤️
idk wut i wuld listen to if AFI never existed...
The lyrics aren't 100% right, but this version of the song is a pain in the ass to find.. so kudos anyway!
@Sothiamient }
im have the the original lyris and thi is perfectly righy
Infa t i just realised the 336 version is one of the vids on this profile. Check it out.
Sing The Sorrow UK and Japan Versions
it's meant metaphorically.....he's not actually talking about physically cutting himself
Pretty sure it's excoriate not insinuate.
The original demo version is much more satisfying to me.This just doesn't do it. It's too radio ready I think.Or maybe because I've been listening to the original for the past 6 or 7 years.
Sick channel
This sounds different than a version I have...
Dave Joseph There's two versions of this song. One from an EP and one as a bonus track.
This is the album version. The 336 EP has a different version
they look correct to me
really?
what part(s)? I really don't hear it
The lyrics in this song, jeez, fuck I feel just like them. Hate being a dark fucker.
i can see what you mean.. but better vocally here.
oh I see
if they're straight edge, then everyone should be
or is he. . .
hmm i wonder y? lol

Please stop.
Some post punk AFI songs are awesome but I really hate the high pitched "OH" he throws in some of the songs....
LOVE IT!LOVE IT!LOVE IT! :d:D:D
