      @@AndrewJames-ps2jc when I shot this video and a few others at this location, I was staying in a trailer on a friends farm. I was helping them maintain their crops because they were short workers and I thought it would be a fun experience and great fishing opportunity. It was right on the water, pretty sweet 👍

    You don’t seem to have a lot of line on your reels. Considering how that 20” Striper was fighting, are you concerned about a 30” Striper possibility snapping your line when it runs further than you have line?

    • @Howwerelivingfishing
      @Howwerelivingfishing  Рік тому +1

      I had to add more line after this trip was over. Yes I was definitely worried what would happen 🤣

    My son
    Try lipin your fish like a largemouth
    Best not reel when the drag is ripping..
    maybe try Heads for bait .bigger bait= bigger fish .
    Herring works well in the fall .

    • @Howwerelivingfishing
      @Howwerelivingfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the tips. I’ve found I never hook fish using heads. I find only using the fillets will get me bites and hook fish. I have to get in a habit of tightening my drag when I’m reeling in. I just don’t want it too tight if a big one bites

    • @Howwerelivingfishing
      @Howwerelivingfishing  2 роки тому

      Maybe the heads just haven’t been presented to a big enough fish yet

    Hey, nice spot! Could you please share this beach location?

    • @Howwerelivingfishing
      @Howwerelivingfishing  9 днів тому +1

      @@OleksiiIsonkin this beach is only accessible from a friends private property unless you come by atv at low tide. It’s located in walton. If you can find any place to access the coast of the bay of fundy it’s worth trying I’d think. I’ve yet to try a beach on the coast there that didn’t produce at least a few small striped bass.

    Nice video. How much weight do you put in the rig when fishing in that current in high tide?

    • @Howwerelivingfishing
      @Howwerelivingfishing  Рік тому +1

      I like having a range of weights so I can change them to suit my needs while fishing. I’ll use anywhere from a 2oz weight to a 5oz weight because that’s what my rods are rated for mostly. If I can, I’ll use as little as possible without having my bait blowing all over from the current and waves. I don’t like having too much weight when I have to retrieve. The current isn’t that bad in the spot I fished in this video so I was able to use 2-3 oz weights I think.

    How do you rig your mackerel? Just belly skin?

    • @Howwerelivingfishing
      @Howwerelivingfishing  Місяць тому +1

      @@AndrewJames-ps2jc I try to mix it up a bit and use a mixture of smaller and bigger pieces. Usually I will basically fillet off a small sliver of meat off the side of the mackerel starting at the tail end and working my way towards the pectoral fins, cutting strips just big enough that I can fold it a couple times on the hook and make either an “S” shape or a “U” shape by hooking it 2 or 3 times. Sometimes I will cut a steak right through the mackerel and hook that on, especially on the skinny end. People say big baits catch big fish so i will sometimes try larger pieces, but doing this you will lose bits from smaller fish too. Using a sharp knife and having a good cutting surface helps when cutting the mackerel because once frozen mackerel thaws it can fall apart easily when cutting it into pieces. I will say that squid is probably my favourite to use because it stays on the hook really well, it’s fairly budget friendly, and the entire squid can be used for bait so it takes up less space and makes less of a mess. Keep in mind I’m also not an expert by any means and my way may not be the best way, I’ve just found what works for me through advice from others and my own trial and error.

    • @AndrewJames-ps2jc
      @AndrewJames-ps2jc Місяць тому

      @@Howwerelivingfishing Thanks for the tip. I bring a poly cutting board with me to keep most of the fishy smell out of my kitchen and fillet mackerel right on the water (hard on the back when doing 10+) When I make my second cut to remove the rib bones I keep that slice with the belly skin for bait and then freeze it. Just haven’t had a chance to use it yet.
