This song is a song about girls who dreamed of being on stage, who have grown up, and are now standing in a special place, expressing gratitude that the smiles of their many fans have helped them grow. Their wish is to make their fans smile and invite them to sing along with them. For that reason, they will go beyond the sky. Among BAND-MAID's lyrics, this is one of the most loving.
I’ve never seen a bass and drummer more in sync than Misa & Akane. They are simply phenomenal. I started listening to Japanese music in the late 60’s…..this is the perfection of the journey.
Such a beautiful song, especially done acoustic! Did you notice the contented look on Kanami's face as she watched Miku play? A proud Sensei, for sure! MISA is just right on her highlights, lead bass for sure! Akane able to go quickly on the drums, but with the special light touch, so tasty! What can you say about the vocals, especially Saiki, just perfect!
There is a line in this song "even nobodies like us can be something" These ladies , gumble but confident & while I listen to lots of bands imho no other band has the consistent good to great song writing combined with a willingness to go almost anywhere in a song.
Beautiful isn't it? The lyrics for "Smile" were written by Miku as a thank you to their fans. It's about watching the fans smile from their view from the stage - 'Your smile makes me happy', 'I have a special view'. (The first of three 'love letters' to their fans including "About Us" and "Memorable" - often called 'The Smile Trilogy' by fans as they all contain the word 'smile'). The music was written by their long time collaborator, Kentaro Akutsu, (he wrote "Thrill") and they thought that their fans would enjoy another composition by him.
I believe these ladies are so in tune with each other because they are like sisters! Watch the akane birthday stream #1,2and 3 to see just how close and how much fun these ladies can be!❤❤❤
I saw that smile! This song always makes me smile. EVERY ONE of the members of Band-Maid has a perfectly intuitive sense of what makes a song special. It's not just technical proficiency, it's the mastery of their instruments (including voice) to this song work so well. I truly love these five young women for what they bring to this world.
Miku's acoustic guitar is Zemaitis AAS-3000HW Miku uses AAS-3000HW at concerts in Japan. In the music video Memorable, the AAJ-1000HSD-E appears in American footage.
Kentaro Akutsu really is an excellent song-writer. He has written or co-written 11 of Band-Maid's songs, including Smile. And all of his songs are catchy as hell. He's really the 6th maid.
No matter what I expect from one of their songs, they deliver something both different and better. The parts fit together in ways I couldn't think of, but can immediately recognize as perfect.
Zemaitis guitars were originally manufactured in England by an English maker after his death the family sold the business to a Japanese company and that's when Miku switched from a Rickenbacker to the Zemaitis brand guitars. I'm unsure if she owns anything else but I know that acoustic is as a Zemaitis
great reaction and analysis....i'm going to go pull out my old Eagles CD's for a walk down memory lane now....:}. this is my 13 year olds favorite song. theres just something magical about this song....
Great, you got the best version of this song (Online Okyuji 2021 DVD bonus track)- Just genius from these ladies in every way. Acoustic songs always expose a musicians true ability and I noticed Kanami giving a dance in the direction of Muki during this song- just to see how she was getting on as this was an early song with her playing acoustic. Miku's guitar is a custom model with a Cluppo related heart shaped sound hole by Zemaitis. Akane is using cluster sticks (dark hand ends- Vincent?) as she does for other acoustic songs.
Miku's acoustic guitar is a Zemaitis acoustic. not sure which model specifically as they have several. But that particular one is likely not a custom.....although as you may already know, she has her own Zemaitis signature model: The Flappy Pigeon..... Kanami, IIRC, uses an Alvarez acoustic.
❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Akane !!! 💗 and just fo you R C ...Misa !!!💗 I saw something today I never thought i would see ...Midori from Lovebites posted a pic on her social media she was standing in the Japanese Gibson showroom with a beautiful sky blue Les Paul strapped on . just imagine her and Miyako doing a duel solo both on Les Pauls .... I can only hope ! she is such an ESP girl she worked in the ESP workshop and helped make at least two ESP's to see her with any thing else especially a Les Paul was just shocking lol
One great, great reaction! I'm so glad to have found you, since you are educating me to things I haven't noticed specifically as I have listened to this so many times. I have always loved this song and now you have given me even more to appreciate it for. Thanks Man! And I have subscribed and am looking forward to many an enjoyable and educational trip with you in the future! I absolutely love Saiki's voice in this especially combined with Miku's backup vocals. Just one hell of a superb song!☺
This is one of the few ( only? ) cases where I really like the studio arrangement better, it's a jaunty bouncy tune with strings backing!, but of course not by very much as this arrangement is fabulous as well. Check it out great car driving song. ua-cam.com/video/KzCUAJIMtu0/v-deo.html

The Maids are masters at genre melding, transitions, riff production, structure, execution, and smiles! ;-)) Thx, John!

Nothing like them in the world
i love akane’s subtle performances in band maid’s acoustic / slower songs.
Mikus's playing one of her many Zemaitis guitars.Another one that makes me tear up😢🤗🕊🍌🍻☕⚾
My favorite vocal performance from Saiki ever. It's such an incredibly beautiful song.

Miku's harmonies.... 😍🥰
What a fantastic song this is. Saiki is just nailing it, too. And the harmonies from Miku. Just beautiful.
Outstanding! Real musicians

Amen.
Hard work and love of what the do and each other shines in their work.
Mincho plays the acoustic guitar like she's just sitting there snapping beans or shucking corn.
The acoustic version of Smile is the only song that hits me, like onions and lemon juice to the eyes every time.
Another amazing performance by this amazing band! BAND MAID is really very special band! Thanks for your reaction.

All I had to see was Band Maid. Thank you 🤘
One of the most versatile bands in the world.
I wonder if they know just how good they are. Amazing.
Love this song! I never get tired of listening to it, this performance is special in every way. Thanks for the reaction.
This is the first of several songs dedicated to their fans. Miku is playing a Zemitis guitar.

One of several acoustic versions. This one is from a bonus DVD from a limited edition CD. The original fully electric is much faster.
BTW this is my favorite breakdown of yours with these ladies. Fantastic job
Glad you enjoyed!

No Doubt! OMG to hear those two on Les Pauls......
@@RockCandy-ix3nn cross your fingers ;)
Miku's heart guitar is the brand she reps on all her guitars now. Zemaites!
The original is a bit faster, but it is a great acoustic.

You made a lot of great points in your reaction here. Nicely done.❤️

I'm pretty sure Kanami is playing her Alvarez Yairi. I think she has a couple. Best of the best.
